We stopped in last weekend and had lunch while visiting the farmers market. The lunch special for 2 with the pizza and salads is what we ordered. The salads were very simple and there is an up charge for cheese but the lettuce was fresh and the poppyseed dressing was so good. The pizza we ordered was a basic pepperoni but it was so good it didn't last long on the table! I forgot to snap a picture because we dug in so fast. Came here after visiting the C-Street farmer's market and exploring the other C-street stores and its apparently the corner stone of the reemerging C-Street. I ate here with my wife and in laws one night when we were traveling through Springfield. I was in the mood for Pizza but didn't want a chain restaurant. I looked this place up and it sounded good so we gave it a go. The pizza is incredibly thin. I've never had pizza as thin as this. This isn't a negative, it's just something I wasn't expecting. This is without a doubt the best super thin pizza we've ever had. Was in town visiting family and was reminded of this pizza staple, "rolling since 1958" on Commercial Street. Went for lunch, had a little wait but were seated in a king size booth for the four of us. Guess they knew we needed more elbow room "Stacy," the long timer with the Pizza House, properly 'abused' us, all in good fun (maybe because I had my son's Texas A& M shirt on.) I was driving by and liked the look of the place, it was lunchtime so stopped in for their lunch special. I read it was a 9" single topping and drink for $9.25 Was greeted right away by pizza cooks, order was taken by young guy, I noted I was charged additional $2ish for my soda making special not $12ish. I said I thought drink was included and he just stared at me. I sat there waiting for my pepperoni pizza listening to the banter of the cooks, the place had a nice feel to it, was warm inside. Manager sat at counter gobbling her lunch. Pizza came out after around 10 minutes, took it to the car and took a peek, this is super thin crust, burnt a bit, cut into squares, tasted ok. I grew up eating their pizza at their original location in the corner of a small strip center at Bennett & Glenstone. Their thin crust, tasty pizza was unique in town, way ahead of it's time. By cutting it in squares, it was much easier to eat - especially with it's softer center. We prefer thin crust and when we came across this restaurant's reviews while visiting Springfield and that they specialize in thin crust, we decided to give them a try. We have yet to find a restaurant that gets thin " right "at home or in our travels. As soon as we were seated, our server asked if we knew what we wanted. We kind of chuckled when we saw the tiny menu with only 2 types of salad , pizza and drinks on the menu. We guessed she figured it wouldn't take long to decide. This is not your typical pizza restaurant with grinders, wings, and anti pasta salads . They cut to the chase and do what they do best. Thin crust pizza. The small salad is just that "very" small. The diced tomato on top was equivalent to maybe a half of tomato. If there are two people in your party, do yourselves a favor and get the shareable deluxe salad. When we saw one go by, it looked more palateable.. you get a Kens dressing packet , 50 extra for more than one. Not a fan of commercial brands except Newman's own at restaurant's because they give back to charity But this restaurant is bare minimum to keep overhead low. When you get the tiny snack size paper plate, you get concerned, the pizza size and slices will be tiny. But don't worry, you will be full after eating it. They cut into tiny square sizes. There are only two sized pizzas, a personal 9" and shareable 13". We got 3 toppings, pepperoni, sausage , and mushrooms. It comes our piping hot and the toppings evenly placed. Everything stays on the pie nicely. Very flavorful and thin , just the way we love it. Service was great. We got there at about 430 pm on Friday and by the time we left, every seat and booth was taken. Bare minimum menus do really work when a restaurant gets their specialty perfect. If you enjoy thin crust pizza, this is your place to try. Theres a reason they have been successful since 1958. read more
