They have drink special starting at 4 PM which are fun to try like pineapple fruit punch with pineapple and vodka cranberry and lime, or you can stick with the classic Guinness on tap which is what I did. They were also serving chicken and potatoes soup which came out more like a Stu that was slightly curried and filling. I come to McShanes quite often and today was the worst food I've ever had the many times I've been here . The service was not good at all either . Very rude bartender . Never did come ask us if anything was ok nor ask us if we wanted another drink . Sent our food back which was the shrimp scampi, they just slathered it in a shit ton of garlic and Parmesan cheese heated in in different butter and sent it back The fries were so hard you couldn't even bite into them . I hadn't been here in a while, but it's obvious the plague didn't do them any favors, that's for sure. We walked in, and it was fairly busy. Moderately so. Found a spot downstairs to eat. Never greeted, never acknowledged, nothing. Ok, I'm bored. So we gambled a bit. Then my husband had to go to the bar and ask for food menus. You would think this would prompt a bartender/waitress to come take our order, right? Nope, not here. If I wanted to order at a counter, I'd go to McDonalds. That's the way I felt about this. My husband ordered a giant monstrosity of a burger with a fried egg on it the egg was over cooked and not nearly as runny as it should have been. I ordered fish and chips and a salad. Salad was great. But how can you screw up lettuce and diced veggies? Whoever prepped the veggies had good knife skills, I'll say that. As every single piece of tomato, onion, and bell pepper were the most perfect uniform size that I've ever seen. My fish was over cooked and was like chewing on a rubber band. My husband tried to eat it and finish my plate and just couldn't do it. Their menu used to be a lot bigger and had some amazing things like Shepards pie. Now it feels like the chef left when the plague happened, and was replaced by a cook. So they had to dumb down the menu to fit that. They've moved things around inside, removing the dance floor they had downstairs, and making it just the area to eat. They do have several huge TVs, so watching a game is quite nice. Would I return? Not in the foreseeable future, that's for sure. It wasn't a horrible experience, it was simply a mediocre experience. Nothing fabulous, but nothing egregious either. read more

Stopped by to have lunch on our way up to Portland. The absolute RUDEST bar tender/ waitress told us she would NOT leaving behind the bar and said any water, drinks or food would need to be picked up at the bar. My wife and I were kind of looking around like the was the old Candid Camera show waiting for the joke to end. We are currently having lunch at Denny's and they actually brought water, silverware and menu's to our table. As a business owner who tips very large the person really f...ked up. Interesting place, appears to be a drinking and gambling place that also serves food. Not too clean. Service was friendly. A lamp plugged in at table shorted out, arced, and slightly singed my sleeve. A little near electrocution won't put me off dinner. From N California... Stopped in at the Harley shop.... Went there for lunch.... They had some good beers on tap and a full service bar... Added bonus... Then we noticed the slot machines around the corner.... Awesome!!!! Ordered the beef nachos with homemade chips... Extra Jalapenos.... Excellent... Perfect amount of sour cream and guacamole.... Had a bowl of split pea and ham soup for the table to share... Really tasty.... Wife and sister in law split the burger with garlic fries... Cooked perfectly and the garlic fries were awesome! After reading the reviews I was somewhat prepared for the experience here. You walk into a dimly lit bar with one bartender and have to wait a lil bit to be helped/get menus, which might turn some people off. I ordered a French dip with a side ceasar salad, and I have to give the food five stars. It was one of the best salads I've had since I've been in Eugene. The next comment is that the place is a lil dark and kinda run down, but for me it's perfect. I like that divey hole in the wall kind of bar experience. Also they have a weirdly cozy upstairs place with pool and some random games, I was into it. I have been to this place three times. Each time, the service is inattentive, boarding ignoring. The food isn't bad but their lack of service is why the third time I visited, I left after waiting for over 10 minutes and not one server came to our table. I saw several workers go outside to the patio a few times, but never came to serve us. It seems that you would have to be in their face at the bar in order to get decent service. We were all coming from a great bike event that contributed money to fallen soldiers families. So there was a large group of Harley riders. She really did a great job. Apart from feeling like I had pulled into the parking lot of the crime scene of my own murder, Mc Shanes was delicious, cozy on the inside, friendly, and fast. Its shady crumbling exterior was a little foreboding at first but once I entered through the heavy wooden doors and was greeted by a cheery hostess and served giant plates of crispy french fries and beautifully fried mushrooms, I fell hopelessly in love. All the food listed on the Ireland green laminated menu sounded delicious but I wound up honing in on the Chicken Cordon Blue burger with a grilled chicken breast, ham, tomato, lettuce, onion, and Swiss cheese. Delicious, but a little dry. Nothing a side of ranch dressing can't handle. The tables were clean, the waitress was very friendly, the atmosphere was incredibly comfortable and toasty, and while I haven't been to Ireland, I felt like I was sitting in one of the Irish pubs featured in movies. After watching an episode of Three Sheets, my bf had a sudden craving for Irish Coffee in the morning. Where else to go but the only Irish pub we like? McShanes we go! What a pleasant surprise it was to find that their parking lot was FULL at breakfast! Just shortly after 11 am on a Sunday and a full parking lot in this bar in the middle of nowhere?! We had never had breakfast there before so it all looked very promising. Oh and it was SO worth the drive! Hands-down the best hashbrowns in eugene! It's not just salt and pepper, there's SOMETHING else that puts McShane's hashbrowns way the heck over the top of all the other hashbrowns I've tried at other breakfast joints. They taste amazing! And to think that the hashbrowns are only a side to their breakfast dishes. Their breakfast menu is very unique but also very basic. Challah french toast, eggie in a basket, chicken fried steak, omelettes, and so on. Their country gravy is good, but not great. It's lacking something that I can't put my finger on. But the cfs is beautifully crunchy and tasty; challah french toast was wonderful. I wish I could have eaten more.....but next time! McShanes has great bartenders that make REAL drinks, yummy and very strong. The waitresses are always the most cheery and pleasant people, very attentive and helpful. And the cooks are incredibly skilled at what they do. As far as the best bar food in the Euge, I'm torn between McShane's and Highlands....tough tough choice. Breakfasts, dinners, and drinks are excellent here and I strongly advise people to check it out. Everyone here works hard to put up a great business. Huge fan of this place. This is an Irish themed bar that has a full selection of beer and wine. They also serve mixed drinks. Lots of TVs to watch sporting events are spread throughout the bar. They have one HUGE screen over the bar for (I suppose Duck football games) major games. The bar is in 3 levels. Pool tables located in the bottom floor. The main floor is where the dinning tables and bar is located. The upstairs balcony has a few tables and TVs where you can eat, drink, or watch TV. Their menu is designed with an Irish theme, but I went with a hamburger. It was awesome. The burger I ordered had everything on it egg, pastrami, bacon, ham, cheese, and of course a full condiment of veggies. The Fries that came with it are seasoned and tasted terrific. The girl who took our order didn't write it down then when the food came we told her she messed up our order she said my bad, I can get you what you ordered but it will be a wile I just put in like three orders or do you want to just eat that. This has been my go to bar for the month or so that i have live here. It has its pros and cons. Pros: Good beer on tap, good bar food, TVs to watch the games. Forest the bartender is a kool guy. However, i feel like this bar trys to take advantage of drunk people by overcharging. They have tryed to over charge my three times now and that is only being there about 6 or 7. Those are terrible numbers and that is why I really am that is more then a "mistake" so watch out for that. Plus there other bartender Hymen is a prick who also tryed to overcharge me and when i called him on it he got all sad and said i was wrong. Um no dude where the fuck is forest?
