While visiting Fairhope, we stopped in to McSharry's for "Dunch". Place was super quiet at 3 pm, which suited us well after an otherwise stressful day. Our waitress was a delight; friendly and very upbeat. I'm a hardcore Shepherds Pie fanatic and have tried the dish many places. This was The Best Shepherds Pie I've ever had, hand down. I even tried to get their recipe (that was a no-go) ;). My husband had the Fish and Chips and was very impressed by the flaky, tender quality of the fish which was perfectly breaded. His meal came with an aioli, which I think was a malt vinegar aioli. It was so delicious. We could literally eat that every day. We highly recommend McSharry's and will definitely be back when we're in town. read more

Lady yelled at me and told me it was my fault when all I asked was a questions. She was the manager and I'll never come back. Most ridiculous situation I've dealt with as an adult. She tried to tell my friends I was terrible person after they came back after my bad story. This place is ran by jokes and it's disappointing people like this exist at their age. Cool little bar. Nice, spacious outside and inside. Outside has plenty of shade during the day, and heaters for night. Outdoor service window is a huge plus. Outdoor speakers are loud enough to hear anywhere outside, but not so loud that you can't have a conversation. TVs are visible from any angle as well. Food and beer options are plentiful and delicious. Stopped in just for a beer, ended up staying the whole night. Highly recommend. read more

The best potato salad in all the lands. That's tall order coming from a South Carolina woman. We've lived down the street from this place for a bit and reluctantly chosen it as a new hang out. No high chairs for children. Not a kid friendly place. Very disappointed! We had read great reviews about McSharry's and were really looking forward to eating there. Got there around 6 PM on a Saturday and easily parked. We walked in and were told to sit anywhere. There was almost no one in the place. But when we asked for a high chair for our baby we were told they don't have any. What????? How can you be a restaurant and not seat children? FAIL!!!! read more

If I ever write a screenplay or novel about living in a small town, it's going to have a bar like McSharry's in the center of it. I love this place. It's everything a small-town bar should be. It's easy to get pretentious in a town like Fairhope (hello, My Place bar across the street) but McSharry's has never fallen into that trap. Ronan, the owner, is a great guy who remembers me no matter how infrequently I come in (which is every couple of months when I'm visiting my parents' home.) He goes out of his way to be friendly and ask about my mother and sister. The other bartenders are also friendly. The food is great, the patio is fun, the music is good--whether it's an iPod, a DJ, or live Irish music being played right there in the bar! The bathrooms are clean, which isn't something I take for granted coming from New Orleans. Stop in, put your feet up and have a beer! read more

I want to give this place 3.5 stars. Apparently every town, even Fairhope, needs it's "Irish Pub". I wouldn't say anything is authentic about this place, but it could be fun if I felt like reverting back to the old days of having one too many. On the Friday night we went, the DJ was playing a pretty good mashup of current music and I almost wanted to let loose, but then a group of 20 or so 21ish folks rolled in, and I realized I was old and should head to bed. Had a wonderful meal awaiting the start of the LSU game. Called ahead to make sure it would be showed, and I was reluctantly (jokingly) told they would. I guess I am in Alabama after all I'm a big fan of fish and chips and they do it right. Even had what they call "Irish" tarter sauce. Had the malt vinegar already mixed in! Doesn't mean I didn't add my own. Husband had the shepards pie. He loved it. Not only was it delicious it was huge. Honestly if we had gotten an appetizer, we could have split the shepards pie. We dined on the patio since the weather was so nice and it was great. Not even sure what the inside looks like. But I don't need to. The patio is great. I went with 3 other guys and we all enjoyed the experience. We tried their black & tan (not as easy to make well as people think) and a couple of other 'mixed beers.' Excellent. We also had the bratwurst on a bun, shepherd's pie, and fish sandwich. The pie wasn't a huge portion, but I prefer that since it's such a filling dish and you need room for the beer. The bratwurst was devoured in a few minutes. My fish sandwich was good--but the fish itself was really thick and took away from the beer batter. Had wings for an appetizer, and they were great if like the a little hot. I can't think of another wing place (including Hooter's) within 30 miles that I've liked more. The decor was interesting in a good way--very 'pubbish.' The staff could act a little less rushed, esp when it's not all that busy. But they were very good on the whole. For 4 beers, 4 meals, and an appetizer, it came to about $90 including a good tip. Not bad at all. Parking is about the same as anywhere downtown Fairhope--not great but you can find a place that's no more than 1-2 blocks away. That was my first trip, and I'll definitely be back. read more

Just passing through Fairhope from a spectacular day at Gulf Shores. This pub had an outdoor area and that's just what I wanted because I couldn't let go of the 70 degree weather. The service was quick and pleasant. I had a beer and soft shell fish tacos. I wasn't expecting for the fish to be fried but that was just the crunch that topped it off. Surprisingly good kitchen. The Shepherd's Pie is delicious. However, the (spicy) hummus with crunchy on the outside and chewy inside pita chips was insanely good. And we eat a lot of hummus from a lot of different brands. Sausage and mashed potatoes were also very tasty. About 6 draft beers, good amount of bottled beers. Unpretentious bartenders and wait staff. Still the place to be for live soccer games in Fairhope. DJ and dancing on the weekend after 10 pm. Recommend. read more

This is the place where the locals go, and for good reason. McSharry's is the place to be on the weekends in Fairhope, for any and all characters and lovers of a good time. I've had the party carry me along till after 2AM before, but I've also gone during the day for a beer with me mum - both were great experiences. For a bar is is kind of small, which makes everything louder... but the food is fantastic. Every Sunday night they have live traditional Irish musicians that really bring a fun atmosphere. The owner has this thick Irish accent and is very friendly and a fast bartender. read more

On a whim we decided to take a mentally challenged family member. I must add that this person is responsible for himself. He has the same rights as any normal person. To our surprise, he had an episode that lasted all of 30 seconds. We apologized to the manager; and tipped her very well to make up for any inconvenience. She still refused to serve us after the fact. The server totally shunned us; and acted like we didn't exist. We got our drinks regardless through friends who happen to be there. We love Irish pubs; but we won't be going back to this one. We are well connected in the service industry; so this will not be good for them. McSharrys is our go-to place in Fairhope! It's super casual and laid back, a quintessential dive bar but with really, really good food. The staff is awesome, consistently friendly and competent, even when the place is packed (like on Sunday nights for Irish music). My husband loves it so much we had his 60th birthday gathering here, and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. It's not really set up for young children. Parking is never an issue. read more

This bar is quaint and nonsmoking! We were there on Sat, March 13, 2010 for dinner and drinks. We had chips with homemade salsa-- very good. For dinner we had a GREAT burger and a Reuben sandwich.
