If I could give a 0 I would This is the biggest joke of medical care I've ever tried to get. 1st off they said my kidney function was normal( the guy who schedules appts) which I have Stage 3 Chronic Kidney Disease for the past 13 yrs. I was just referred back to a Nephrologist before I left my old dr. And now they're normal. How the heck did that happen. My appt was last 1/23/23 and no one would give me my lab results or return my call. It's now 2/6/23. I asked the NP to order all my meds because I needed refills that day and the pharmacy couldn't get them. My old dr did. You can talk quick to get out what u need but knock knock no one's there. Staff is incompetent and inconsistent. Been taking my kids here for over 5 years and typically spend at least an hour waiting (this is on a "quick" day for them) before being seen. That's also with an appointment. They also sometimes call to tell you your due for an appointment but then once schedule and show up for that appointment they say they were mistaken and that you were not really due yet. This happens somewhat regularly with this office. Breaking point here was that on 3 occasions they have flat out refused to see my kids on scheduled check ups because their mother wasn't present. Personally I think this was racially motivated bigotry. I'm white, my wife and step children are black. My wife does not drive because she is partially blind so most of the time I take the kids to their appointments, she is not there. Usually it's not an issue but sometimes it is. The dumbest thing about it is that the first two times we came back with her and had her fill out an authorization form for me to take the kids to their appt. We were told it would not happen again. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I literally cannot stand going to this office. The staff is inattentive, and irresponsible. I constantly have scheduling mistakes, either they schedule the wrong time or say I don't even have an appointment, when I literally have an email confirmation of time and date which makes it confusing. Not only that but the "doctors" here do not listen to the parents, my kids and I went in a week ago and got a Covid and flu test and supposedly they both came back negative. It's been 2 weeks now, I can't even get anyone on the phone to schedule another appointment, my kids are still sick as hell even with the meds the person prescribed us. Please shut this place down, I believe this is a "clinic" full of quacks and unhappy, unmotivated, entitled brats that should be reported for malpractice. Oh and we do have the flu, the doctor tried to say that we came in and got tested too early even though I literally said like 4 times in our interaction that we had been sick for a whole week before. MUST READ! I went in for an allergic reaction to something unknown 10 days ago. I told them my list of allergies and they prescribed me something with penicillin in it anyways. I sadly did not catch that and will be going to the ER for the second day in a row now since these "doctors" gave me a medicine that could have killed me. great work. read more

They hire inexperienced MA's that work closely with your children. I experienced a that MA really hurt my child during a simple swab for the flu and strep. Two of my children had the same test done here by a different MA last week and they didn't scream and cry and try to runaway. So today the test was very different because of who was doing it. When you come here there's always a hour or more wait before you are called weather you have a appointment or not. There's a very high turnover in the staff, so I guess they hire anyone to help fill the void. I have been coming here since 2013 and have seen very little improvements. It keeps getting worse. After this incident. I will not be able to return to this clinic. You can get better and faster care from elsewhere. Avoid this place with your children. read more

These are some of the rudest people I've spoken with. If they don't want to answer your question or if it's too much work for them they hang up on you. They also said I had a phone call appointment set for specific times on four different occasions. I never received a call for not one of the appointments. Come to find out they were not even put in the system except for one and they documented it as no show or I guess no answer but they never called! Andrea the manager at the Denton location was not helpful at all. The staff continued to hang up on me for no reason. I was kind and polite to each person I spoke with. So there's no reason why I should have been treated the way they treated me. I do not recommend this office to anyone because of their lack of professionalism, lying about a scheduled appointment they never scheduled, and hanging up on a patient multiple times by multiple employees. read more

FIND A PRACTICE THAT IS COMPETENT AND CARING. THIS IS NOT IT. I have been with this practice since we moved to Denton 7 months ago. Since then my kids did a preliminary physical with boosters, a uti, bronchitis and vaginal infection. Simple, common things for little girls. My first visit, knowing it was a walk in clinic, was 3 hours. I get it. But they didn't update the shot records, and I didn't notice until after I left the building, which is ILLEGAL. I hauled my kids back in after being there for almost 5 hours to get the nurse to stamp my kids immunization log. I get it. I work in a VERY busy medical practice in the back office myself. No problem. Except no one introduced themselves and I assumed I was seeing the Nurse Practitioner, since I knew the MD was male. Next visit: UTI. Needed medication and diagnosis. Same thing. No one introduced themselves. I didn't know WHO was treating my daughter. A script was electronically sent to my pharmacy, which didn't arrive for over 24 hours and 3 phone calls to the office to get them to actually send the script. Having a 3 year old with urine that feels like fire shouldn't have to wait 24 hours to start antibiotics. Next visit: my husband took them next for bronchitis. Again the staff couldn't get it together enough to get the scripts sent for over 24 hours and then mixed up which girl got what medication. Good thing I know I'm doing. Meds are given by weight of the child, and I was prescribed the 3.5year olds weight for my 18 month old, which could have caused kidney problems. It took 3 phone calls over 24 hours again then to get it fixed, which a total of 48 hours. Next: yeast infection. Yesterday I took my daughter due to a burning vaginal area again, wanting to see if it was a UTI again. No introductions from the staff. Only 1.5 hour wait which is good for a walk in clinic! Didn't know who was seeing my kids again. I was told she would call in the script. Jokes on me because I knew better. I went to the pharmacy 3 hours later and it was not there. I called the pharmacy this morning, again no prescription. Called the doctor office, who informed that it WAS sent. I told her to send it again. At noon it was not done. At 1pm it was not done. At 4pm it was not done. So I called the office AGAIN and demanded to speak to the office manager. The gal who came on the phone was NOT the manager, BUT SHE DID CALL IN THE PRESCRIPTION AND INTRODUCED HERSELF! WELL DONE VANESSA FOR BEING THE ONLY PERSON IN YOUR CLINIC WHO I TRUST. She is the offices only saving grace and the reason this medical practice got any stars. The level of care is poor. The bed side manner is poor. The customer service is poor. The staff is a reflection of the owners and the physicians and practitioners, which IS NOT A GOOD ONE. read more

I can't say enough good things about this clinic!!! First off it was only $49.00 and I was a new PT. Staff and doc was friendly. I got there 8ish 5th one in line. Waiting time was short. but waiting room was filling up. So I would say go early and avoid the waiting time! Doc save me a ton of cash! SO grateful it did not cost an arm and leg. I don't even know where to begin with this facility. I came in for the first time with my children and it will most definitely be the last. I am not one to write many reviews, but I feel that this place needs some definite changes not just for their "business" but because these patient's are being being treated poorly. My experience with the front desk staff was beyond disappointing, you have your employees consistently on their phones and making rude comments about patient's that walk up to their window. First off, people come here because their loved ones are sick not to be the talk of the office because you are "annoyed" with your position or to be ignored because your phone conversation is more important than a patient's need standing at your window. It is common courtesy to at least acknowledge a patient that is at your window and not have them standing there wondering if they are going to receive a response. I wasn't clearly able to see the receptionist badges because they weren't visible but there was a blonde young lady and another one with dark hair and glasses at the appointment's window having a conversation that did not apply to the work environment. I don't know if the other young lady was the manager or her title there, but it was very upsetting to know that there was no proper guidance. I do see that there are several unsatisfactory reviews at this place of business and it is kind of disturbing and an eye opener that the same issues continue to happen and the fact that patient's are being treated unfairly. How is it that a place of business doesn't at least attempt to make a decent change of staff or something so that patient's aren't treated this way? The provider we saw was nice and listened to my concerns but I did also feel a little rushed. As I mentioned previously, I have NEVER received such horrible service elsewhere but will be sure to never take myself, my children or recommend anyone to this clinic (MD Family Denton) due to the service we received. The physician may or may not be competent, but I wouldn't know because I've only been seen by a nurse practitioner who can't be understood and has the worst bedside manner. Twice she saw me (more than an hour wait each time because this office won't accept appointments), and both times she acted like I should be diagnosing the problems, not her. She also acted like she was slumming when she was treating me; I know patients on Obamacare HMO plans are treated like second-class citizens, but I'm still a patient and she chose to work at a sub-par medical practice. The first appointment was for a routine physical, blood tests and referrals. I have cerebral palsy and, until Affordable Care Act, I was unable to be covered by health insurance no matter what the cost; therefore, I was grateful to be seen by any medical professional--even if this one has an office staff that yells at patients and a waiting room that's full of uncomfortable, school assembly-type chairs. However, the physical consisted of the nurse practitioner asking me basic questions and barely a rudimentary exam. A tongue depressor was brushed down my right leg when I told her have increased muscle weakness and suspect I have additional nerve damage not related to CP; a tongue depressor was the best she could come up with to use. I can barely walk, I struggle with a cane and I told her I probably won't be able to do even that much soon, and she acted like I told her I just fell down, cut my knee and needed a bandage. I know she's not an orthopedist or a neurologist --she's not even a physician. I wouldn't want her to treat my worst medical conditions; however, I do expect her to exhibit more medical knowledge and skill than a below-average home health aide. I told her I have CP and it's in my medical records, but she called it multiple sclerosis twice in 10 minutes. Way to really listen to your patient, Ms. Nurse Practitioner. I respect nurse practitioners; nurse practitioners who know what they are doing and care about their patients. She doesn't fit either description. When she ordered the blood tests, the first nurse couldn't find a vein. Seriously, it took 10 minutes and at least two nurses to take a few vials of blood. Oh, well; maybe someone from nearby Texas Woman's University's nursing school will teach the nurses how to draw blood before they embarrass the practice further and bruise other patients' arms. I did receive referrals I needed: a neurologist, a physical therapist and a psychiatrist. However, the psych referral came from a secretary who just said I should to call Dr. X (I am not using his name because I haven't called him yet, and I'm unsure whether I will because his online reviews are horrible.). When I asked the secretary his specialty, she had to put me on hold to find out. They told me it would be a week or so to get the blood tests' results. It took nearly a month, and I had keep calling to learn that they had arrived; no one thought to call me. There's no sense of urgency, even though they are dealing with people's health; at times, even public health issues (AIDS, hepatitis, etc.). Lucky for me, all my blood tests showed were standard middle-age, excessive-weight-and-poor-diet problems. Frankly, I could have predicted those without the blood tests. I also knew Ms. Nurse Practitioner would lecture me about eating better and exercising more; she's right, I need to eat more nutritious food and I do need to exercise more. However, she made a lot of false assumptions about my habits; some that were dangerous assumptions, while others were simply offensive. She seemed surprised when I asked if that's all she found. Really? A patient is in front of you who has obvious mobility issues and has told you she has panic attacks and anxiety issues so bad she can barely work, and all you can say is cut down on sodas; I hardly drink sodas anymore, something I told the nurse when she took the basic medical history. Of course, Ms. Nurse Practitioner could have educated herself about my medical history if she had bothered to read my file. She didn't even bother to bring my file into the exam room. Then, she had the audacity to ask if there was anything else I needed. I told her if she didn't have the medical knowledge to assess that there were more obvious problems than poor eating habits and lack of exercise, there was nothing more for us to discuss. I left the exam room as fast as I could hobble on my cane. That is not the end. My son went to the practice to present the staff with his vaccination record so they could update it by adding his latest shots; he needs this to enter college. However, he was hassled by the dimwits at reception who said he couldn't receive them...He didn't ask for shots. I received a letter firing us as patients. Thank goodness. read more

I've been going to Denton Family Healthcare about once a month for almost 10 years now. Yes, you will sometimes have to wait 1-2-3 hours to see Dr. Evans but he is the best that's why his patients who know him will wait that long to see him. If you see a nurse practitioner, the wait is only about 20-30 minutes. All the nurse practitioners I've seen were great! I've been to specialist doctors who were horrible and surgeons who screwed up my eye and foot big time (none referred by Dr. Evans' office). The office staff at Denton Family Healthcare can be a little...er...cranky at times but they ARE professional. And as far as getting prescriptions filled, sometimes the Walmart pharmacy screws up, sometimes it's the doctor's office that messes up and sometimes it's both but just call the staff at Dr. Evans office and they will make sure it gets done. I've had to go to dozens of other doctors for various reasons but always kept Dr. Evans as my main doctor. I am comfortable in Dr. Evans office and trust his staff, his nurse practitioner's and associate doctors. You must understand that I have always HATED going to doctors and had to be practically on my death bed before I'd go to a doctor before I was in a car wreck. I still hate going to doctors but have no choice. When I go to Dr. Evans' office I know I will be taken care of and most of the staff know me by name. They are not perfect but they try and the office manager is fantastic. She has helped me through many tough times and made sure my medical needs were cared for. I've been going there so long I can "read" the atmosphere and whether the office is having a good day or bad day but no one else would know this unless they knew everyone and what they go through on any given day. It's a big office with many personnel and very busy. But they do their jobs and are professional every time I've been there which is a lot considering I go every month for 10 years. Some doctors I've been to don't even take your blood pressure, weight, pulse or listen to your lungs and heart yet prescribe dangerous prescriptions not even caring if you should take those meds. At Dr. Evans office, you may have to wait and watch The View (barf) for a while but every time you will get caring and QUALITY healthcare. The title says "Denton FAMILY Healthcare" and that means healthcare for the whole family as well as you are treated like family (except for sharing the TV remote, that I'd like to get my hands on!
