AFC then found my Aetna coverage and told me that Aetna was my SECONDARY insurance--but said their system required them to use the secondary insurance instead. The result? A $100 copay instead of $25. I questioned this several times. I asked why I couldn't use my primary BCBS coverage. Same answer: their system wouldn't allow it. I even asked them to remove Aetna so they could process my BCBS, and I was told they couldn't because doing so would be "fraud." Here's the problem: that's backwards. Coordination of Benefits generally requires the primary insurance to be billed first, followed by the secondary insurance. Aetna's own provider guidance says exactly that: bill the primary insurer first, review the primary EOB, then bill the secondary insurer. I understand computer systems have limitations. What I don't accept is being told I must pay $100 instead of my $25 primary-insurance copay because their system insists on using my SECONDARY insurance, and then having the word "fraud" thrown into the conversation when I question it. Patients with multiple insurance plans: check exactly which insurance AFC is billing before you pay. Needles today I left to another urgent care where my insurance was billed correctly. I will never step foot at AFC Urgent Care again.

The first thing they asked me for when I arrived was my health insurance card and my $100 co pay. They wouldn't even let me see a nurse or anyone or even walk back to use the bathroom without first getting my $100. Then some LPN takes my vitals. All she noted was my chief complaint is coughing. Even though I told her I had confusion and blurred vision. I get into a room and all the physicians assistant does is listen to my chest and give me meds. She doesnt look in my throat or check my eyes or feel my stomach or my lymph nodes. She then diagnosed me with "chronic cough with unknown cause." ARE YOU SERIOUS?! If I had known I was going to get some med school drop out from night school I would have never allowed them to treat me or take $100 from me. My 2 year old nephew can use a stethoscope!!! Rene was an excellent medical assistant and I wish all healthcare professionals that I meet were like that. He was very kind and did everything to make sure you felt comfortable. NP Kamrin was a bit rude and insensitive to my pain and wasn't helpful overall. I felt like she was on a power trip writing prescriptions for everything on the planet. This was my 2nd visit and like the first time, I left feeling confident and like we were well taken care of. I was able to hold my spot before arriving and received a text when it was our turn. We checked in and we're called back pretty quickly. The nurse that helped us was so sweet, kind and patient to my daughter. The doctor came in and he was amazing as well! My daughter loved Minnie Mouse so she had on a Minnie Mouse jacket and sneakers so the doctor drew her a fun picture of Minnie Mouse and gave her princess stickers AND coloring pages. My girl left there so happy she even said the doctor is her best friend and wanted to send him "heart hands" Although the flu diagnosis was no fun this visit was pleasant and I'm thankful to have gone as they provided me and my girl a positive experience.

It's not clean at all and the room they put us in was completely bare, minus the exam table and had wallpaper peeling off the wall. The MAs perfume was so strong that I immediately got a headache. MA took my baby's temp orally (after I said she had a fever at home) and didn't even get it all the way in her mouth to get an accurate reading. Then we saw the doctor. No complaints but also nothing good to write about her (except that she did tell me to call with any concerns or questions upon leaving, which I thought was very kind), it was a very quick visit from her. Doc decided my toddler needed a shot of zofran so the MA came in with it. She used the largest needle for it which left a scar and bled a lot. My husband has medical experience and called her out afterwards about the large needle and she said it was necessary to "get thru the muscle" but my child isn't 2 and barely has any thigh muscle. The MA then tried to hug my child which made the toddler freak out even more.
