Fried catfish was ok. Chicken fried steak was good. White gravy must have been from a jar or pkg mixed with water...nasty! Mashed potatoes tastes like from potato flake pkg. Cole slaw was swimming in white liquid like miracle whip mixed with water. The table wasn't wiped before we sat down. Still had glass condensation rings on table & a wadded up straw pkg. We drove over 1 1/2 hours to go there based on a google review. Must have been a family member or possibly an employee giving this restaurant a high review. It was less than average, hence the 2 stars. It was so cold in the dining room that my husband had to go fetch our jackets out of our vehicle & the customer next to us offered to rent one of our jackets as he was freezing cold. We were traveling on 412 East and were getting hungry for lunch so my wife pulled up the trusty Yelp app and found this gem right off the highway just a few miles up the road. Not a very big place, but very nice as it has recently been remodeled. Restrooms are on the outside and are gender neutral. You walk in and seat yourself and they have a nice waiting area with seating in the entry if all of the tables are full. We were quickly met by super friendly down home staff that took our drink order. This is a Pepsi place so if you like Coke, get the iced tea. It is spectacular! We started with some fried green tomatoes with ranch that were on the specials board. Oh. My. Goodness. They were the best I have had in awhile. Definitely in season and not greasy. So good! I had the catfish filet with fries and coleslaw and my wife had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and a dinner salad. All of it was outstanding and the service was excellent throughout our meal. If you order the chicken fried steak or mashed potatoes be sure you like butter because the cream sauce for the steak and the mashed potatoes were full of it! Both rich, creamy and delicious. The catfish was super white and flaky with none of that muddy gray stuff no one likes. Coleslaw was tangy and sweet as it should be and the steak fries were nice. You pay up front with the cashier so no waiting for your check to be processed. We will definitely come here again and can't wait to try some other menu items. We ordered with a large group (9) and the service was better than some more expensive restaurants I have eaten in. I ordered the pork chop (16 oz. ) with brown butter sauce. It was probably the best pork chop I have ever had!! All the other people in our group raved about theirs. The Reuben sandwich looked amazing!! It's a small place so go early. This place never disappoints. The ham and eggs are wonderful, they give you a huge ham steak. The cheeseburgers and onion rings are the best anywhere. Awesome little Restaurant!!! Food & Service were 100% The food is fantastic. I had the Chicken & Shrimp Combo and loved it. Wife ordered the Seafood Platter (this is actually enough for 2 people) without knowing how much food was piled on the plate when they brought it out. Everything was fresh, HOT, and very delicious. There are plenty of options on the menu....sandwiches, steaks, fish, chicken, and much more. They offer a few desserts which we had no stomach space to try......maybe next time!!! So I gave 4/5 stars (deducting a star) for a couple reasons: 1. The bathrooms were outside on the side of the building and the area was not lit at all which wasn't a very inviting amenity in the dark evening hours. My wife needed to use the restroom but the women's was locked (no one inside) and it was 23° outside and who wants to use the restroom in below freezing conditions. We opted for the Wal-Mart down the street. 2. The table space is minimal here so if you've got the hankering for their cuisine, I suggest you get there early or at non peak hours or else you'll find yourself hanging out in the waiting area. 3. Payment for your meal is made at the counter which just so happens to be right next to the only entry/exit into the kitchen, placing you right in the path of navigating wait staff so naturally you feel "in the way". All that said we will be back......before rush hour and with empty bladders!!! read more

Ok, Meacham's totally rocks. I love, love, love this place. They have some crazy awesome fried mushrooms that I order pretty much every time I go there. The waiters are super nice and put up with my crazy requests for extra blue cheese dressing. While I am on the topic of epic blue cheese dressings Meacham's deserves top billing. When I think I have a favorite menu item I try something else and have not been disappointed so far. They have a very affordable side splitting burger that is probably around 3/4 to 1 pound for a ridiculous price of less than $5.00. They also have a crazy good french dip sandwich with super salty beef brothy goodness to sop it down with. I have found that I like the Philly Sandwich and then add a side of the au jus sauce as it seems a little meatier that way. What else...well we have just got down the menu to the fried chicken which is everything that fried chicken is supposed to be. Crispy, tasty and not soggy. Very good flavor and reheats very well since eating the entire plate is nearly impossible. The last time I went there I wanted to go out on a limb and try some frog legs which I never had before. My reckoning is that Meacham's would offer a pretty good idea of what that would taste like. Sort of reminded me of a cross between fish and chicken and was not bad. The only weird aspect was how sticky they make your fingers. I was finding it difficult to keep the napkins from making my hands into paper mache. The last item I have had there is probably the most expensive on the menu at around $18.00. That would be the prime rib steak (I think that was the cut). WOW talk about awesome. They had sort of an off putting looking butter sauce on top that I was sure would not taste good. I generally am not a fan of steak being mixed with sauces or gravy of any kind. Turns out the sauce was really good. I am a big fan of French foods with the different sauces and I have to admit I have never had one quite like this. It was like a butter gravy almost mixed with Au Jus style seasoning. It helped to bring out the flavor of the steak and had I the ability I probably would have eaten the plate to get the last few drops. All in all this place is one of the best around here...I have it as my #1 at the moment. I think the owner was sick for a while and they had to close down so we are super happy she is back up and running and the restaurant has reopened. My only really sad part is they have discontinued the sausage and gravy with biscuits as I am using that as my southern restaurant barometer. I would imagine theirs was pretty darn good but I never had the opportunity to get it since it was ALWAYS sold out when we got there. I suppose other peoples tummies have answered that question for me. read more

Meacham's has some SERIOUSLY good food. What these people can do to an onion ring is absolutely diabolical. Everything I've ordered here has been so far beyond what I expected out of a hidden place in a hidden town. The chicken fried steak, pork chops, burgers, even the clam chowder and butterfly shrimp deliciously highlight a truly well rounded menu. I've never been even remotely disappointed with the food here. However..... The servers seem to have caught onto the fact that people will come in droves to belly up to their tables no matter what they do. They have to be the most unwelcoming people I've ever seen at a restaurant. Your drinks will probably stay filled, they won't forget about you or anything, but it seems like every trip to your table is an inconvenience for them. They regularly slam the drinks on the table, rush you through the ordering process, never greet you when you walk in the door (the process for getting a table is still a bit of a mystery to me), and definitely don't show any appreciation for you coming in. Also, I'm fairly certain that our last waitress was wearing pajamas. I guess they know that there's nowhere else to go. Why go to all the trouble of being nice? It does save you from having to tip well, though. I'd still come for the eats, and even though I'll probably have spit in my food on my next trip I bet they'll somehow find a way to make that taste delicious. read more

A wonderful find. Well worth a drive. Food was very good. I'm hard to please and everything I had was good. The whole catfish was huge but perfectly cooked. The salad was very fresh. The second night I had chicken livers. I have only liked them in two other places: my house and one local restaurant. My husband had the fried whitefish special and really liked it These were superb. I've past this place a hundred times on my trek from Fayetteville to Jonesboro and always say I'm going to stop. Today was the day and I just figured out what I've been missing for the past 9 years. This place is awesome!!! I went off the rail a bit and ordered the grilled chicken livers, yes I said chicken livers, topped with grilled onions and a side of mashed potatoes. The meal started with an excellent bowl of homemade cream of chicken soup then came the entree. The livers were grilled to perfection nice and crunchy on the outside and not over cooked on the inside. Mashed potatoes were also homemade nice and creamy with a big scoop of melted butter folded into the center. I'm sure most of you are not into liver but don't let that stop you, the place is now packed with a bunch of smiling faces and full bellies. I have gone to this restaurant many, many times. And I keep coming back because it serves the best American food I have ever had. Try the clam chowder, the mushroom soup, the pork chops (i just started salivating), the chicken fried steak sandwich, the onion rings. Basically everything is good. The salads are the only weak spot, they are pretty basic fair. Not bad just not special. Whenever I go to another American restaurant that isn't Meacham's I always end up thinking, "Man, I could have gone to Meacham's." And the prices, the prices are even fair. Its like ten bucks a head for most meals, the most expensive meal on the menu is $20. Its such a freaking bargain. And the portions are large. I just, I don't know why anyone goes anywhere else for American food. read more

Dining options in Hardy are limited to say it nicely. If you're looking for a good bite while in the area, this is a good choice. Service was just a bit slow, but the food was excellent. The menu is pretty big and the board with the specials had MANY different options available. It's moderately priced (not fast food cheap, but definitely less expensive than many places).
