I'm a huge fan of the arts. Apparently Detroit has a plethora of theater throughout the Metropolitan area and surrounding cities. Anyway, I visit this theater frequently. It's located on the college campus. They feature a lot of classics plays and new stuff as well. It's located in Rochester so the drive from Detroit can be taxing-- it's about 35-40mins. I've seen Little Shops of Horror, a Christmas Carol, Blues in the Night and a couple of others that I can't recall the names. The theater is pretty spacious. It's not the Opera House but it's nice and family friendly. There's also a small art gallery located inside which features some very talented artists that I believe attend or attended the university. read more

I went to Meadowbrook Theatre last night. What a wonderful experience from beginning to end. The performance was the 39th annual showing of The Christmas Carol. The theatre seats 584 people and the in and out is rather slow but well worth the wait. The Theatre has a no eating or drinking policy to preserve the Theatre's clean and polished atmosphere. The history of the Meadowbrook Theatre is on the walls to your left and right as you walk the hallway to the Theatre. It was very nostalgic reading the Theatre beginning and triumphs. The Meadowbrook Theatre is on the Oakland University Campus which provides ample parking and a short walk to the entrance. The grounds are well kept and clean. I will be coming back to visit and watch more performances this year. The 2022 schedule is up and full of all different shows to choose from. I'll be trying to get my culture on this year and why not you as well. read more

I have been going to Meadow Brook Theater for many years. I am familiar with many of the actors in the regular season as well as Christmas Carol which is always at Christmas Time. Without a doubt the best play was Christmas Carol and they are known for that play. In 2024 for the first time since I have been constantly seeing the play at least 14 years straight they replaced Scrooge at their own willingness. Thomas Mahard was magic onstage and I never grew tired of his performances as Scrooge. They had character changes that I was disappointed in but I can't describe the disappointment of not seeing Thomas Mahard work his magic. His passion and dedication to his role are nothing short of phenomenal. I can not continue with my favorite holiday Tradition. Bah humbug read more

Saw Gin Blossoms and Spin Doctors. Had pavilion seats. Great sound, a little loud so buy ear plugs if that will bother you, I did and they only cost 2.00. Good selection of food and drinks. The coffee truck was the bomb. The only thing missing was dessert or maybe I just didn't see it. read more

Took our family here to see Pete the Cat. Very nice theater and really there were no bad seats in the entire theater.

They have completely outsourced the ticket process to Ticketmaster, who over-charges, has terrible customer service, and won't let you exchange or return anything. Meadowbrook does not care about your experience, when you call them they will not help, and do not care. read more

I love this little theater. I can't believe the nay-sayers re: this theater. It is located on a university campus, and so duh...no alcohol or more explicit productions. And the review from 3 years ago was absurd, complaining about not taking photos/recording the production. Clearly that reviewer has never been to a live dramatic performance. With that being said, this theater is perfect in many ways. Well worth the trip to Rochester. It is affordable, small, no bad seats in the theater, and great acoustics. read more

Like others have observed, this spot is geared more toward a senior citizen audience. It's a safe bet for a fun outing with grandma and her pals. Free parking. Disability accessible entrance and facilities. Cute, PG rated productions. My one request: I wish they sold alcohol at the concession stand. This is not my scene and would've been better with access to cheap wine. read more

Tends not to offer the most dramatically adventurous types of plays, but knows how to get the job done and serve the crowds, living up to its title as Michigan's largest professional theatre. The theatre seems to strive to offer a personal touch, with the artistic director often visible in the crowd before the show and then appearing onstage for a pre-show speech. The casting seems to make an effort to draw at least 1 or 2 actors with a connection to Oakland University. Production values are very high on their large and wide proscenium, with a strong attention to detail, color schemes and (for the most part) use of space. Lighting, costume and sound also maintain the same high standards. Of the three plays I have seen here, two have ended in "dance parties" onstage after the bows, so perhaps that is part of the routine?! It's a surprisingly small lobby and front of house space, so don't come expecting to stay awhile before and after the show. But when you're in the theatre space itself, you'll be rewarded with excellent production standards for a great night out. read more

Highly suggest Meadow Brook stop business with Ticketmaster. Can never get through and when you do you get told one thing and something entirely different happens. Told I was getting a refund, 30 min lately for a vm they are exchanging my tickets instead to the following Friday - AND DIDN'T EVEN PUT THE SEATS TOGETHER AND NOT AT ALL COMPARABLE TO WHAT I BOUGHT. Had bought center almost middle to stage and then given tickets LITERALLY AGAINT THE RIGHT WALL IN THE NOSE BLEEDS, again SEATS weren't even together. Just wow. Took me another HOUR to connect to a rep at Ticketmaster and try and figure out wtf is going on! read more

My fiancé and I came here to see A Christmas Carol. The parking was very easy, right across from the venue. The concessions are just pop, water and light snacks. The show itself was fantastic! About 15 minutes before the show starts, there are carolers that sing a bunch of different Christmas songs. The show is about 2 hours long with an intermission. It's with a heavy heart I'm writing this review as this theater is one of my favorites. They always put on a spectacular show and experience- until tonight, when I was shown just how little this theater cares about its community, staff, cast and crews. We spent a small fortune on tickets to A Christmas Carol and unfortunately, the night of our show (tonight) is a blizzard. I already live an hour away, in good conditions, however tonight it's closer to three plus a couple spin outs and almost accidents (I'm not the one driving). When I called to see what their refund or exchange policy I was told there was none- unless of course the venue cancels the show. Considering Medowbrook is on a college campus I would have assumed that they would close. However- they didn't. I'm sorry, I'm not going to risk my life, or someone else's to go to a show. I have been in theater my whole life- I fully understand the time, money, and effort involved in a production, it is no small task and deciding to cancel a show one night is extreme. I also understand that this is Michigan and snow happens, we should deal with it and know it comes with the territory of living here. But this is a *severe* winter storm warning. Schools are shutting down, companies are closed for the safety of everyone, the news is encouraging people to stay home unless absolutely necessary to leave. Is this show absolutely necessary? No. It's very disheartening that a theater so revered within its community has such little regard for the safety of their staff, cast, crew and devoted fans. read more

How delightful a conclusion to my four-day philanthropy quest for People with Criminal Records, and my ringside seat that a lobbying colleage got me for the negotations that resolved the 101-day garbage strike on the other side of the river. Every year we gather a group of friends and we head off to see A Christmas Carol. Performance is always great!! This year Tiny Tim did not "run" across the stage the entire time lol last year he did (the actor was so cute no one cared). The one thing that we did not enjoy was after the play was over the actors were begging the audience for donations/money!!! With each ticket costing $50.00 I'm sure there was no need to make us uncomfortable. I would suggest that during intermission you serve warm beverages instead of a can of soda or bottle of water. The snacks ... well I have nothing to say except embarrassing a few chocolate bars at best. Truly the show was wonderful and we will continue to come year after year, it's our tradition!! read more

They offer student tickets for $11:00 only "Two" per picture ID and seniors at a 20% discount off posted prices at the Meadowbrook box office. And every seat is a "Good" seat. Great for seeing small plays in your area. I must note - 99% of the audience is of the retired or grandparents age. Nana and Papa will love it. The shows are reasonably priced and will keep you interested. Meadow Brook in general has cool summer events like wine tastings and concerts that are very intimate and fun. I love MB! read more

Lack of business ethics.Treated my mother and me horribly! My mother is an avid supporter of this theatre so I purchased her Eflex tickets for Xmas but she had already invested in an annual membership so the tickets could not be used. When I called to inform the theatre and ask for my credit card to be credited, they gave me the run around and never credited my account. Shameful! read more

Parking was terrible, they boxed us in way too close together. We ended up taking off early from our show because we knew we would never get our car out once the traffic started. The lines were too long to enter the venue, they were not prepared for the influx of people. They wand everyone that enters and they tried to say I could not bring my "Point and Shoot" camera when the website says it is allowed. We were seated near the top of the lawn and the music wasn't really loud enough for us to enjoy over the commotion around us. It was a disappointing experience and we had similar issues last year.
