Delicious fresh omlet. Ham was so good.

I've been here twice now when visiting and you just can't beat the charm and the "off the beaten path" vibes here. You truly feel like you've walked into a friendly neighbor's home and they've decided to cook for you....next to a fire...at their dining table. It's so cozy. I've just had breakfast here so far. It's fresh and home cooked tasting. My sister and other family members rave about the huevos rancheros. We also always rave about their coffee...they add a touch of cinnamon to it. It's so good and just something different to enjoy. Our service this time could have been a bit better...perhaps our server was new, as my sister said she doesn't typically have that experience. If you find yourself coming through or near Allenspark, don't miss this true one of a kind experience.

A friend took me there for breakfast today. He's been eating there for nearly 40 years. I had the 4 egg Mexican omelet with homemade salsa and wheat toast. Home fries. I'm so sorry I forgot to photograph the food. It was chilly outside and we devoured the food as soon as it arrived. It was plentiful and well presented. I asked for the potatoes crispy and they were perfect. The Omelet was large and perfectly cooked. The fresh salsa was spicy, with a hint of habanero. It was a perfect breakfast. Highly recommended. 8am-2pm only. Wednesday thru Sunday. It's worth the drive.

Was driving through Allenspark today and came across this cute little place and we decided to try, we're glad we did. Good food, beautiful scenery, friendly staff. It's off the beaten path but worth the drive. Note: they advertise that they are not fast food, if you're in a hurry, don't stop. You need to be able to have time to relax and enjoy.

This spot is truly a gem - a quintessential mountain town eatery with delicious food, a feel like you're in someone's warm mountain home and very welcoming servers. It's small so probably good to get there early. Clearly a place that respects the beautiful nature it's in and encourages you to slow down and enjoy where you are.

Meadow Mountain Cafe....Allenspark, CO! Great Breakfast !

What a great find right outside of Estes Park, in Allenspark! First, this pretty and quaint little Cafe is so welcoming ! We arrived @ 8:am and we're immediately greeted by our friendly waiter. We chose a little corner table outside on the pretty little porch, watching all of the feisty little hummers jockey for position at all of the feeders . I ordered two buttermilk pancakes that were as by as my plate and, were the best I've ever eaten....with a side of bacon and potatoes with onion & bell pepper...so dang good! My husband & our daughter's boyfriend ordered two fried eggs, bacon, home fries & Homemade Wheat Toast and Homemade Strawberry Preserves, with some of the best coffee they'd had in a long time...they think that they detected a hint of cinnamon...? Our daughter ordered the Crystal Springs Spinach Omelette with a side of sauteed mushrooms and potatoes with bell pepper & onions and a glass of freshly squeezed Orange Juice...perfect! It is the perfect little breakfast spot, situated just below the beautiful Rockies! Meadow Mountain Cafe has been in the Allenspark since the 1920's, and the locals say, it hasn't changed a bit. Meadow Mountain Cafe is a cozy little cabin with a toasty little potbellied stove inside. The cafe has been owned and operated by the St.John family for three generations. We will certainly be back! **Be sure to call and check their hours before you head out because, it Does Change...and, don't be in a hurry, because, they aren't. = )

Otherwise, we were mightily disappointed. Saturday, late June ~1pm - we were seated quickly enough. Took a while for the server to take our order (~10 minutes before she came for our drink order) and it took well over 45 minutes for our food to come out! They weren't particularly busy (lots of open tables) and there were a lot of servers. Maybe short staffed in the kitchen? Probably more disappointing than waiting so long was the food itself. Potato soup was "fine" but nothing special and way too much bacon. Three of us got side salads and every single one of us had warm lettuce. Not even room temperature - warm, like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. The turkey panini had way more mayo that should be allowed on a sandwich and the bread was barely toasted. We waited so long for our food we couldn't risk sending it back. As it was, we were there for so long we had to change our afternoon plans to go to RMNP because we rain out of time. Fortunately, we live only an hour away so we can go back. If you are looking to maximize your time in Estes I would not recommend Notchtop. Plenty of other options in Estes.

It was that good the first time that we decided to come back and do it all over again the next day. Parking is somewhat limited, but we arrived early on weekday mornings and had no trouble finding a spot. The restaurant is charming from the outside, with a colorful "Greetings from Estes Park" old postcard mural that makes for a great photo opportunity. Inside, the atmosphere is modern yet cozy, and both days we were lucky enough to snag a window booth. Our first experience set the tone right away. We walked in just as a server was arriving for her shift. Noticing nobody was at the host stand, she seated us before even putting away her personal belongings. That's customer service. For breakfast, I ordered a special that I can't seem to find on the menu now--an Eggs Benedict with pulled pork. I debated swapping the greens for potatoes but decided to be healthy. To my surprise, the dish was served on crispy potato pancakes instead of an English muffin, which meant I got the best of both worlds. The combination was fantastic, and honestly, I think Eggs Benedict works even better on potato pancakes than on bread. Every bite was packed with flavor. The next morning, I made myself try something different, even though I was tempted to order the same thing again. I chose the Cambridge Skillet: smoked ham and bacon with jack and cheddar cheeses over seasoned ranch potatoes, topped with two over-easy eggs and creamy hollandaise. It was delicious and hearty, although my first day's breakfast still edged it out as my favorite. I also sampled my friend's whole wheat blueberry pancake. It was enormous and surprisingly flavorful. I especially appreciated that many of their sweeter breakfast options come with eggs and a choice of bacon or sausage. It's a nice balance and makes for a more satisfying meal. The food, service, and atmosphere were consistently excellent on both visits. The Egg of Estes quickly became one of our favorite breakfast spots in Estes Park, and it's definitely somewhere we'll return on future trips.

Even though they were slammed, she never changed her smile, tone, or attitude. I was very impressed. The space was eclectic with some very fun decor. The outdoor patio was unusable as people were smoking, which was disappointing. The reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars was due to the man making the food/drinks. I stood at the counter and watched him make drinks for at least 10 customers after me before even starting my breakfast sandwich. It was disappointing to wait through customers behind me to eat.

Breakfast burrito is $18, coke another $3, 20% tip and taxes and I'm looking at around $30 for a breakfast burrito. Oh well, it's the only game in town. Dude behind the counter seemed chill, I'll roll with it, I thought. After ordering/paying/tipping, grab an available table that I had to clear off myself. The other two available were similarly still filled with the last diner's dishes even though nobody had been sitting there the 15 mins I'd been in line. Oh well, again, only game in town, right? Waitress eventually (they were busy, not dinging her here) brings me out my order and I notice a GIANT and very obvious long hair down the length of the burrito swimming in the green chile and melted cheese. I point it out to her with a smile, figuring this happens. Simple enough to fix. She shrugs irritably and has a "so what" expression on her face. Now, maybe it's just me (and probably the health inspector) but after spending $30 on a burrito and bussing the last person's table, I'd kind of like - pretty please - to NOT have hair swimming in liquid atop my food. So I asked if I could please get another $30 burrito, which seems reasonable. She rolls her eyes, asks exasperated "you want another?!" and walks off before coming back and literally slamming another on my table in clear anger before storming off. Shoulda walked out then, but I was hungry and at this point didn't think making a whole scene requesting a refund was worth it. So I ate the very mediocre burrito and left. Like I said, really wanted to like the place, but service like that at prices like that? No thanks, plenty of places to get better burritos at a third of the price with a tenth of the 'tude.
