We stayed in Estes Park for two nights, and both mornings we found ourselves at The Egg of Estes for breakfast. It was that good the first time that we decided to come back and do it all over again the next day. Parking is somewhat limited, but we arrived early on weekday mornings and had no trouble finding a spot. The restaurant is charming from the outside, with a colorful "Greetings from Estes Park" old postcard mural that makes for a great photo opportunity. Inside, the atmosphere is modern yet cozy, and both days we were lucky enough to snag a window booth. Our first experience set the tone right away. We walked in just as a server was arriving for her shift. Noticing nobody was at the host stand, she seated us before even putting away her personal belongings. That's customer service. For breakfast, I ordered a special that I can't seem to find on the menu now--an Eggs Benedict with pulled pork. I debated swapping the greens for potatoes but decided to be healthy. To my surprise, the dish was served on crispy potato pancakes instead of an English muffin, which meant I got the best of both worlds. The combination was fantastic, and honestly, I think Eggs Benedict works even better on potato pancakes than on bread. Every bite was packed with flavor. The next morning, I made myself try something different, even though I was tempted to order the same thing again. I chose the Cambridge Skillet: smoked ham and bacon with jack and cheddar cheeses over seasoned ranch potatoes, topped with two over-easy eggs and creamy hollandaise. It was delicious and hearty, although my first day's breakfast still edged it out as my favorite. I also sampled my friend's whole wheat blueberry pancake. It was enormous and surprisingly flavorful. I especially appreciated that many of their sweeter breakfast options come with eggs and a choice of bacon or sausage. It's a nice balance and makes for a more satisfying meal. The food, service, and atmosphere were consistently excellent on both visits. The Egg of Estes quickly became one of our favorite breakfast spots in Estes Park, and it's definitely somewhere we'll return on future trips. read more

We like this place! My Egg-ceptional Omelette (no tomatoes) was good, the potatoes were very good, and the English muffin was as good an English muffin as I've ever had. My daughter enjoyed her Vive La France French Toast as well. Our waitress was very friendly and had good timing - there were no long waits for her to reappear, as sometimes happens elsewhere. What a lovely place for our first morning in Estes Park. We were ready for a nice meal after a day of airport food and this hit the spot. A decent chai tea latte and plenty of Diet Coke from the start for my companion. Our server was personable and offered great insights on the menu. I opted for her recommendation of the Hikers Benedict with grits as my side. I was skeptical so far from the South, but the grits were well done although I like to cook mine with salt but many restaurants do not. The Benedict was amazing with asparagus, cremini mushrooms and a perfect hollandaise sauce topped with delicious bacon. Excellent! My companion had the Wisconsin scramble with potatoes. The eggs had a variety of cheeses and he said they were very good. I imagine on weekends this place can be packed but on a late Thursday morning it was a decent crowd. Came to Egg of Estes for breakfast on Saturday around 0900. We were seated with no wait and staff was friendly. I ordered the traditional egg platter with eggs, turkey sausage, and the apple whole wheat pancakes. All good but the pancakes left a little to be desired. Would maybe try a different flavor next time. My husband got the special eggs Benedict with mole pork and potato rounds, he also said good not great. This is the best breakfast spot. My wife and I always get the same thing. For me, it's the spinach bacon mushroom omelette with the green chili on the side instead of the hollandaise sauce it comes with. I got the fruit instead of the potatoes today, plus the English muffin. It's still my favorite omelette. My wife got the Mexican omelette, holding the chorizo and adding avocado. She forgot to substitute the English muffin for the tortilla, but they brought her one anyway. The in-laws had the brioche French toast, which I tasted and it was fantastic, and the strawberry banana waffle, which also looked good. We went to The Egg of Estes on a Saturday morning @ 11am. There was a very long wait, approximately 40 minutes or so even though they said @ 20. But let me tell you the food was worth the wait. I ordered the Parisian Benedict, which was ham and cheese on a half of croissant with poached egg and hollandaise sauce. It was probably the best breakfast I had had in a very long time. The croissant was so buttery and the Swiss cheese was melted over the ham and mushrooms. It was delicious. My husband ordered the Hiker's Benedict with fried potatoes which was also very good. I definitely would recommend this place for breakfast. Just be aware you may have to wait if you go on a Saturday morning when it's very busy. read more

What a wonderful gem! As a local I had not had the chance to stop by. I ran into someone at the local library who recommended it so I figured I'd give it a go. While to looks like a standard diner from the outside it was more welcoming and vibrant on the inside. I was greeted and seated right away. There was a lot of food been eaten by other customers and lots of chatter. What a great start to the day! I ordered coffee and an omelet. I didn't have to wait to long to get either! I dug right in and was not disappointed! Yum! The eggs were super fluffy (have to find out the secret) yet very filling. The endless coffee was also good. The waitress and another runner made sure I had everything I needed with out being overly intrusive. I really enjoyed my breakfast here before going leaf peeping in Rocky Mountain. We got a variety of meal options, from the skillets to hash to French toast, and all were great. The food was so good, we went twice in one wedding weekend. Freaking delicious. I had to request the eggs done correctly for my Avocado toast the second trip - one egg on top of each avocado toast half. The oatmeal side was so good the first time, we split the entree version the second time. My wife's loved her Breakfast Burrito the first time, but went with a Denver omelet the second time time. Both were excellent. The service was excellent both times, with different servers. The ambience was perfect. We like diners, and the front gave that vibe. Unfortunately, the service completely ruined our experience. We came as a family with two kids, and from the start, our server was unnecessarily rude and harsh. While taking our order, he repeatedly said things like, "Now you. No, I said you. Again, I said you order," in a condescending tone. He dropped one of the eggs for the Benedict. I didn't say anything at the time because of his attitude, but the replacement egg didn't come out until 15 minutes later, long after the rest of the food. His behavior turned what should have been a pleasant family meal into an unpleasant experience.
