The Rock Inn was a great respite for great food after spending the day in RMNP. Sam A was an excellent and attentive server who provided good suggestions and fast (but not rushed) service. We started with the Devils on Horseback (bacon wrapped figs) appetizer which was tasty. We ordered a couple flights of local beers, and then dove into our main courses which included (2) Gold Canyon burgers, bison marinara and pasta calypso. Each was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. We were stuffed... but that did not stop us from order some yummy bread pudding. This is exactly what you want out of a mountain town restaurant. It's cozy and cabin-y, with great food and service. Some of the standout elements...the evening we went there was live music and the musician playing was really enjoyable. It wasn't too loud and was a really fun addition. There's great art throughout the place. I enjoyed walking around looking at all the pieces. One other element they sticks out to me is how much our server loved her job! Oh how I've missed you! This is hands down my favorite place to eat whenever I'm in Estes. Everything here is consistently amazing. The appetizers are a must--especially the elk sausage and the Cajun shrimp over a bed of grits... sooooo good. The main dishes are just as impressive. The steaks are incredibly tender and packed with flavor--cooked perfectly every time. Pair that with their great cocktails, and it's a win all around. Service is always top-notch. The staff and front greeters are some of the nicest people and truly make you feel welcome. One tip: if you're visiting in the winter, getting a table is easy. Summer? Whoa. What an unexpected hidden gem of a place. When reading the menu it seems simple and honestly uninteresting to me. However our food was absolutely delicious and great execution. My favorite meal for my entire visit in Colorado. The elk sausage was delicious, the bison meatballs were tender, flavorful and cooked to perfection. The stroganoff, which they don't advertise is with house made noodles !!!! Was a true highlight. They cooked the mushrooms in a way that they were able to infuse flavor in it which I usually encounter a plain boring button mushroom. Not here at all. I don't eat beef, but the filet in the dish was so tender I wouldn't even known it! And the orange cheesecake was truly a chefs kiss. The Christmas decor was cozy and inviting, and the live music was nice. Our waitress was attentive and when our meatballs came with onions instead of mushrooms she addressed it quickly. This has a roadside tavern in a log cabin kind of feel and seemed like a place locals would go. It was a fun experience. At 6pm on a Saturday in October it was very busy, but things moved really quickly, so wait time for a table or food was not bad at all. The live music was a nice background, not so loud that you couldn't enjoy a conversation. The staff were extremely friendly and courteous. The Cajun shrimp appetizer was well done and tasted great. The warm bread and cinnamon butter was delicious. Caesar salad, steak, and veggies were disappointing. The filet was surprisingly dry and a little tough. I never add salt to my food, but the steak needed it. The veggies were kind of bland too. The brownie sundae was amazing!! They really nailed the appetizer and dessert. Live music and great food on a beautiful Friday evening in a rustic setting. We sat outside on the enclosed patio. The acoustic music was great, the temperature was perfect for a fun family dinner. They have a variety of options on the menu with some weekly specials and an extensive drink menu. I had the Pineapple Pico Trout. The trout was cooked perfectly, light and flakey. The pico had a bit more kick to it than I expected but it wasn't too much spice (it could be too much for some who don't care for hotter spices). It was on a bed of fresh steamed veggies which were great. I also had a side Caesar salad which was the perfect size and the dressing was creamy with a good about of Parmesan flakes. One of the best places to eat at in Estes Park! We came here for a nice dinner after hiking in the Rocky Mountains and were able to snag a table for two on a Saturday at 7pm. There was live music and the musicians were very good! The interior is like a cabin and adds to the overall aesthetic of the Rock Inn. We tried the trout and stroganoff and were very happy with the meal. All the entrees come with bread and butter which was a highlight because their butter is a cinnamon honey butter! 10/10 butter! The staff was great at getting us to a table but our waitress seemed too busy for questions about the menu or bringing a water bowl for our dog. My favorite restaurant in the area! It has such a cozy, western vibe and the food is delicious. We ordered the salmon, pizza, and steak and all were perfection. The entrees come with bread and cinnamon butter which reminded me of a better version of the Texas Roadhouse rolls/ butter. Did the touristy thing and visited Estes Park last Wednesday, 5-8-24. Per usual, the first stop was Coffee on the Rocks, per usual, a great delight for everyone! By happenstance, the flyer for live music at The Rock Mountain Inn Tavern was lying around inside the shop. After scanning the QR code that was presented, we saw that there was live music starting at 5pm. After investigation, we found this to be a common event for them, live music most nights, including weekdays. We decided to make that our last stop before heading out of town. It did not disappoint. They have a select menu which is helpful in creating better quality control. They do display specials as part of their menu, if you'd rather try that. They have a wide variety of drink options that are reasonably priced and they also have several Mocktails. Definitely a popular local hangout and special tourist dive. Be sure to stop by! Thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant! We had no reservation so waited at a high top near the door and enjoyed a cocktail and local beer. They have live music nightly which is one of the draws. Menu was clearly marked for gluten free items which I appreciated. Hubby had stroganoff and I had a salad/grain bowl with a red pepper cream sauce (sauce was soooo yummy). This place was popping on a Saturday night. Maybe they are most nights. Showed up a little after 5:30 and were told an hour wait. Even though they were turning tables fast, it was probably close to an hour, if not longer. Service was great once we were seated. We started with a bottle of house red wine, which was fine. The vibe as soon as you walk in is great! It has an old rustic cabin vibe and really suites the experience. There is are all over from local artists which was a nice touch. The service was excellent. We were seated right away and our served was knowledgeable and prompt. Our food came out very very quick as well. The food itself was delicious. You can tell they use lots of locally sourced ingredients. As an appetizer we got the corn dip. For entrees, my husband got the 1/2lb burger and it was delicious and perfectly cooked. Even his French fries were above average for fries. I got the bison meet balls with red quinoa and vegetables. The gravy was flavour full and the meat balls were moist. Highlight of the meal was the apple and raisin bread pudding. A large portion, served warm with cream. It was the perfect cozy dessert. Ordered Beef Stroganof (Special of the evening). My wife had a chicken dish. My problem was that my dish had a bone in it the size of a fingernail. Thankfully it didn't knock a filling out or break a tooth. I placed it on a bread dish for the waitress to see. Waitress did come around and looked at it. Didn't do or say anything about it other than " hmmmm, where did that come from"? My wife's dish was ok. No response from the restaurants management??
