I called Daniel, who happened to be in the neighborhood and was here in a mere 20 minutes. He identified the problem, called the parts supplier, found what was needed was in stock, ran out to get the part, came back a few minutes later and finished the job. Maybe I should say "parts" since he asked if I wanted to replace both of the shelf supports. Given the age of the dishwasher, the fact that they're plastic and that one had already just broken, that seemed like an excellent idea that hadn't crossed my mind until he mentioned it.
