This is the 5am class with Harmony. Yes it's early - but it's worth it.

The entire Mean Green experience is amazing! These guys really, truly care about their clients. First off there is something for everyone. If you are looking to tone up, build muscle and endurance, or like myself are looking to lose weight they have you covered. Second, there are a variety of classes and times to choose from for every skill level, no one is left behind. Lastly, and most important the environment and positive energy in this place is contagious, that's what sets Mean Green apart and keeps me coming back!!! If you are thinking about giving them a try DO IT you have nothing to lose and everything to gain! I have been working with The Mean Green team for almost 2 years (attending the outdoor boot camp and now indoor classes too) and I have dropped 80 lbs. Seriously, try it!

One of my good friends started CG (Ft. Worth area) in 2020. Watching her transform mentally & physically I was curious on what she was doing. Over several weeks of grilling her I decided to be brave & signed up for a class that is offered by my house & I am hooked. I am so glad I started training with Brandon as I was getting worried about my bone strength & having these horrible visions of having impaired mobility as I get older. At the camp, you go at your own pace & it is really exciting when you see/feel the milestones & improvements in your journey. After 3 months I am stronger, more flexible, faster & mentally I feel so freakin' good. Brandon will give modifications per exercise & is very hands on as he walks around to correct your form or to give you a shout out. His enthusiasm for what he does shows, he is truly vested in your journey. Did I mention he is the best trainer I've had? Ever? As mentioned above, every "camp" is different. And as I have the best trainer at CG that loves to mix things up. Don't be surprised to see cornhole, a basketball hoop or huge jenga in the parking lot. Each class is well thought out & the hour goes by very quickly. You work the whole body (cardio & strength) including your mind as Brandon leads you through a routine that makes you THINK about what you are doing or how you are going to do it. Camp Gladiator is a four week outdoor group fitness program. The workouts cycle per week & builds on the previous week's training. I like that there is a different focus per week: Week 1 - Endurance - "Full body workouts that keep your heart rate at a steady pace" Week 2 - Strength & Agility - "Agile movements to work on coordination & muscular efficiency" Week 3 - Interval - "High intensity workouts with short rest periods in between" Week 4 - Peak - "Challenging workouts that push you to your highest exertion level" This location is in the West parking lot of the Memorial Drive United Methodist Church (MDUMC!). I love this location because, duh, Brandon, it is a safe location & the people. Community is a focal point with CG & being in a class with people of different ages & fitness levels is motivating & fun. CG offers members access to unlimited workouts whether you hit an outdoor class or a virtual workout (there are so many virtual classes to choose from across 7 states). So come out & join me one fine morning at Camp Gladiator - MDUMC. One class with Brandon & you will see why I am so enthusiastic about my fitness journey. AND Brandon offers coffee after camp. Get your sweat on, grab a cup of exceptional java, hang out with other campers & don't forget to say Hi to Finley, the cutest side-kick dog! See ya there!!!!!!!

Sweating, running, push-ups, pull-ups, etc., and being expected to complete the series of assigned exercises? You probably also remember the last time you were able to do all those things with ease when you were 12. Well, Body Camp is like that. As an adult, I appreciate the simplicity of conditioning your body by using your own strength and resistance. No gym, no weights, just good old-fashioned physical labor. For me, SEAL PT is the best workout. I took classes years ago, but moved and had to drop out. I'm hoping to achieve this time around what I did then, which is to get into the best shape of my life. Graduating to the more difficult Boot Camp and eventually becoming a Lifer would be great, too. The camaraderie and results can't be found in a gym. As a side note, Instructor Harris is not boring! At least my body doesn't think so - three days straight of his workouts required multiple Advils just to function.

How do you go to sleep skinny and wake up fat?! Well, that's what happened to me...that's my story…read moreand I'm sticking to it. Almost 2 years ago I moved to Houston for work, where I work from home most times. Being in a new city not knowing anyone and working from home is the perfect storm to gain weight. I've tried working out on my own, diets, and other gyms but could never stick with it or saw any results. Finally I made up my mind this weight was not ok and I needed to make a change...I wanted a personal trainer. I did some research on Yelp and looked in to a few different trainers. But hit the jackpot when I found Above the Bar Fitness! I went in for my consulting and got the full run down on Above the Bar Fitness and took a short tour of the gym. They train out of The Core gym, the gym is clean with top of the line equipment. The gym is mostly a trainer/client environment so there aren't any classes offered. Above the Bar Fitness is a team of two trainers, Nicole and Jen. Both are very qualified and want to see you succeed. They listen to what your concerns are what your goals are and tweaking workouts to help you achieve those goals. They push you past what you think your limit is but in an encouraging way. With each workout you feel yourself getting stronger and leaner. If you're looking for a new training I definitely suggest you contact Above the Bar Fitness.

Key aspects to highlight: - They understand your starting point and where you wanna get - Set realistic goals - Monthly stats to track progress - Routine is personalized and changes periodically - They explain you why you do everything and more important, how to do it right! The gym is fully equipped and used only by personal trainers - no need to wait or fight to do the next set. I had to stop training for personal reasons but would definitely be back soon with them!
