When I asked, they said the computer made them charge the service fee. This is in addition to having the system prompt for a tip in addition. The ironic part is that we weren't even standing next to each other in line. Then if you are going to charge a service fee, we would expect to have some solid service that is pretty prompt. Small things such as being able to get water when and as soon as you sit down (perhaps they were busy?), as well as having the sufficient amount of silverware (perhaps they just miscounted?) and actually people smile when they're helping you (perhaps it was the end of the day and they were tired?).
