All the food is great is so tasty! You get big portions. Wish sides were included but they are not too much more.

Was craving banana pudding and after a quick search, found Joe's has one available. While this…read moredessert isn't your traditionally made banana pudding, it is very good! This shareable dessert has bananas and vanilla wafers on the bottom with banana pudding on top. The difference Joe's has versus other traditional banana pudding is that the pudding is whipped. The light texture is super creamy and delicious. Topped with toffee pieces, the pudding finishes with a nice crunch. If you're just looking for dessert, I suggest ordering online for carryout. Otherwise, you may wind up waiting in the long line for BBQ. If you've not been to this location, it is a great opportunity to eat in the gas station and enjoy the ambiance. Service is excellent and the servers are very friendly. They also help manage seating to ensure you have enough seating for your party as you aren't permitted to save seats before you get your food.

This place was packed to the brim to get a table which now I understand whyyy. The line went fairly fast so I was happy (hangry Steph was about to make an appearance) You order first, then get a table while you wait for your grub, this seemed to get the people flowing in and out. The sauces are homemade and delicious I got the special which was like the size of my head hahaha I couldn't finish the bread but boy was it yummy. Perfectly q-ed up with the sauce and the fried onion rings. I was living my best heart attack dream. The cornbread was so warm and fresh, and the pickles were perfectly salty (like your MIL, jk). Truly was refreshing to get this meal and eat what I believe Kansas dreams are made of. They do have a to go spot which we got some cornbread to go on wit us on our plane ride.

The casual, counter-service setup has a true neighborhood BBQ joint feel, and it's easy to see why both locals and visitors recommend it. The restaurant is especially known for its ribs and burnt ends, and it's common for popular items to sell out later in the day, so arriving early is a smart idea. The barbecue was outstanding. The meat was tender, smoky, and packed with flavor, with the perfect balance of bark and juiciness. Every bite tasted like it had spent hours in the smoker, and the house barbecue sauce complemented the meat without masking its natural flavor. Portions were generous, making it an excellent value for the quality you receive. The sides were just as enjoyable and rounded out the meal nicely. Everything was served hot and fresh, and the fast-moving counter service kept the line moving efficiently even when the restaurant was busy. Overall, Slap's BBQ delivers exactly what people hope to find when they come to Kansas City for barbecue--authentic smoked meats, generous portions, and a laid-back atmosphere. Whether you're a local or visiting for the first time, this is a barbecue destination that's well worth experiencing.

Smoky, juicy, and the most flavorful item on the plate. I'd order this again. 2. Sausage - Solid texture with balanced flavor and good smoke. 3. Pork - Tender with good smoke, but still could've used a little more flavor. 4. Brisket - The weakest of the group. Thinly sliced, no real bark, and lacking the richness and seasoning you want from good brisket. Sides: - Baked beans: very one-note sweet. - Hush puppies: good flavor, just fried harder than I prefer. They were generous with the extras--lots of pickles, jalapeños, sliced bread, plus both sweet and spicy BBQ sauces included. Overall: decent BBQ with excellent smoke, but I wanted more flavor to back it up.

I finally understand the hype around Wolfpack and I'm so glad I gave them a few chances before…read morecodifying my thoughts on this Yelp review. Some background: I've been a few times now, but never under good circumstances. The first time I was at their food truck right when they opened and they were short on a few items. When I got home the sides weren't great, but I kind of chalked it up to them not being fully ready for me. The second time I went, in contrast I was probably their last diner in their newly opened space. I had a friend with me who had just come off the plane and needed a late dinner. The food was good, but again they were out of a bunch of things we wanted to try and I wasn't blown away. Now, my husband and I made the trip over to their location in Columbus Park about a month ago during regular dining hours and had an absolutely incredible bbq dinner from start to finish. The server was amazing, the food was insanely tender and delicious, and we left so so so full in the best way possible. This was what I had heard from others and what I was expecting and I was so happy to be able to report that they do live up to the hype, and if you catch them on an off day, give some grace and try again as this local spot is worth it. Oh, and get the cheese dip with bbq in it - I forget what kind of meat that features but holy hell was that great.

We snuck in unannounced on Father's Day and he was exactly right, it was 5 star. The kids took me out for Father's Day and the place was busy. We arrived around 5:30 or 6. Our server came over and gave us menus, but informed us that they were out of ribs and pulled pork. My daughter had her heart set on pulled pork and I wanted a slab to share. Not a problem, we went to our backups. My eldest daughter went for the Smoked Turkey BLT, my youngest daughter ordered the Mac & Cheese, and my sone ordered a burger. I went full in and created my own plate, Brisket, Pork Belly Burnt Ends, Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage, Onion Rings, and Lemon Pepper Slaw. Now my kids are not the biggest BBQ fans, but they all loved their meals. My eldest remarked her turkey was not dry and really good. As for mine? BRILLIANT! The sausage was some of the best jalapeno cheddar I have had in recent years, the burnt ends were succulent and flavorful. The brisket was just the tye of brisket I have been hunting for. It was sliced from the connected flat and point (most places here only do the flat) and there was that beautiful line of rendered fat dividing the two parts. It had great smoke flavor (needed no sauce) and was definitely juicy. Wolfpack has lured me in and we will return soon. Side Note: The reason I snuck in unannounced was to be able to give a true and honest review without the possibility of getting better than usual because of the owner's invite back to try them again after my first visit. The level of service, the quality of food, and the overall atmosphere won them a 5 star, nothing else. This is a great local BBQ joint.

I also thought the Barbecue sauces were very good. Plus I wasn't hassled for asking for more sauce or asked to pay a up charge. Classy place ! The Barbecue beans were also off the hook. They were so meaty and delicious. I could honestly make a meal out of them. This is not a hole in the wall place that makes you feel like you went back in time. The establishment obviously takes pride in everything they do. It shows in so many ways. The place was clean and the employees were well dressed. The cooking staff management team looked like they were proud to wear their beautiful black uniform, very professional and impressive. Putting that all aside the atmosphere is very impressive. Price wise it was comparable to the other outdated dirty places. Definitely a place to bring your guests especially if they are visiting Kansas City. If I needed a catering service, hands-down, they are my first choice. I'm flying out tomorrow afternoon but work here all the time and I will certainly stop back in today to get an another taste of heavenly food.

No, this is more of a sit-yourself-down kind of place, instead of being a make-your-way-to-the-bar-for-yet-another-drink kind of place. But they serve up some Joe's Kansas City BBQ, so you know they've got a reason to pull you in. Nothing says Kansas City quite like smoked meats & fabulous sauces, so get comfy & sample a Z-Man. There is plenty else on the menu, but if you're vegan or vegan-ish, then good luck or maybe have a cheat day. The BBQ is fantastic and Ice House has added their own bar & grille twists, so you have options beyond smoked meats. Seating is pretty good, and with both a wraparound bar and table service, there are plenty of options. As is the norm these days, there are screens in all directions, so you just don't miss a single moment of sportsball if that's your jam. P&L is a jammed up place when events are happening, so if you can find yourself a spot to sit and enjoy, then that's a win. County Road offers that and more, and it's only real knock is the service levels, which can be slow at busy times. But hey, if you have a seat and maybe a drink, then wait just a few extra minutes for servers to plow their way through the bar crowd. Definitely worth it for the BBQ alone.
