Mebane Air is the HVAC contractor for my apartment management company. When my AC unit went out, I contacted my landlord, who immediately called Mebane Air to set up an appointment. A technician came to my apartment within 24 hours and determined that the part needed to be replaced. The part took two days to order, but I was able to check on the status of the order by calling Mebane Air. The woman who answered my call was very patient and helpful. I quickly got too deep trying to troubleshoot our poorly behaving air conditioning unit, and needed professional help. Mebane air got someone to our house same day and he immediately started trying to find the problem, from replacing air filters to checking wiring. In no time, he was able to determine our wiring was wrong on the attic unit. So he fixed that, then looked at our outside unit to determine how we could run more efficiently. Bottom line: our system is running perfectly, and my wife and I are very satisfied with the service we received. Mebane air will be our first call as our system ages. read more

Our HVAC broke down and we didn't realize it until almost 11pm since it had been a warm day-- I called Mebane Air figuring I'd get an answering machine and they would call me in the morning. I chose them because they've worked with a colleague's rental management group for 15 years and they recommended them. He answered the phone(!) and was very pleasant, no problem calling late!! (wow!) He was at my door at 8:15 this morning. He fixed my HVAC, explaining exactly what the problem was and how to fix it and discussed if it even needed fixing- no snow job at all. I just bought a house here in Mebane moving from raleigh (apartment) and previously Durham (house). We scheduled the HVAC inspection and the tech showed up exactly on time and i received a confirmation call from the sweet receptionist a half hour before. the tech was very professional and polite. A week after moving in we had a small concern with our HVAC unit and decided to call Mebane Air to come out and service the unit. Libby arrived exactly on time with a smile and a handshake. the confirmation call came just as before with a smiling voice at 8:00 AM. Libby was professional and very polite throughout the entire service call and explained what was going on with the unit and even looked into the crawl space with me to address some questions i had about the duct work. When i lived in Durham i had a few service calls with other HVAC companies and was told that i needed to replace my entire unit because it was "done for". After 3 different opinions i discovered that all we needed was an $80 part. I'm very glad to know that Mebane Air was more concerned with my best interest rather than inflating my balance due. We will certainly use them again, and in fact decided to sign up for their bi-annual maintenance service program. read more

What they are looking for and what they are working on is described to me in layman terms that I can understand. My best interest is their best interest. I called Mebane Air after a recommendation from a local handyman in our neighborhood. I was glad to have my call answered by a kind office assistant who said she would relay my heat Pump issues to their maintenance technicians who were on their first call. Forty five minutes after the call the Mebane Air van pulls up and within 20 minutes my heat pump was working again and I had reliable heat again. The guys at Mebane Air are my hero's! I was scheduled to have my downstairs air conditioner replaced on Wednesday and Tuesday night my upstairs air conditioner died. I left a message for David(after hours) and he returned my call 30 minutes later! I was super impressed by that alone, but David said he would start first thing in the morning and see if he could find the equipment to replace my upstairs unit as well. Forgot to mention it was during a heat wave! Three trucks and six guys later, they had both units installed and up and running by 7:30 pm Wednesday evening! Between diagnosing, waiting for a replacement part and calling them daily to get them to come back out to replacement it and finish the work took about a weeks time. I will use them again and I recommend them to folks as they did a good job. Just need to stay on top of them. read more

We called Mebane Air on Thursday, June 30, and Kevin was able to come to our house within 30 minutes - awesome! He was here for 10 minutes, said we needed Freon, put some in the unit and that was it. Still charged for the whole hour. My husband asked if there was a possible leak he should check for since it was low, but was told that wasn't necessary, that this should fix the problem. By Saturday, July 2, the temperature in the house was rising again, so we called back. Kevin came again, put his gauges on the unit, and said there was way too much Freon - so he took some back out (didn't offer any sort of refund, even though we had paid for the amount that he put in there). Went up in the attic, cleaned off a vent, and said that might work or it might not - that we should keep the receipt until Tuesday. Charged us for an hour and a half - overtime as well since it was a holiday weekend. A few hours later it is obvious that the problem is not fixed. We called again and the owner told us he and his partner would come out on Tuesday to see if they can figure out what's wrong. At this point we are out over $500, no one has done anything to see what is actually wrong with the unit, and we still don't have air. On Tuesday, July 5, the owner and his partner come out to see what the issue is with the unit. They again tell my husband that they are not sure what the problem is but that it might be clogged up there. They offer to put some vents on either end of the tubing for $250, which MIGHT fix the problem. The only way they can guarantee to fix the problem is for us to purchase a whole new unit. My husband asked if they could check to see if that was truly the problem, but they told him they didn't have their tools with them. Why they would come out to diagnose the problem with our unit and not bring their tools is lost to me. They said they could come back tomorrow morning with their tools to check and see if that is really the problem. So, 5 months pregnant, in the middle of July, with no air conditioning - I would not recommend their service to anyone. They have been here three times and have played guessing games about what is wrong with out unit without ever actually trying to figure out what is wrong, and have charged us over $500 and we still don't have air. read more
