My heater failed just as a cold snap started. I contacted Alternative-Aire, because they'd been great in the past. They were great again. They had someone on site the same day. He fixed and explained the issue. I asked whether the "guilty" part should be replaced. He did not try to "sell" me but said, probably yes. He then asked about warranty, helped me find the right information, and arranged to get the replacement part under the--just barely--still active warranty. These guys are awesome! read more

semi-annual checkup. He was a total professional from start to finish, and it was evident that he was very knowledgeable and highly experienced. One thing he noticed is that one of our units is very overpowered. So, he could adjust the blower to run at a lower pressure except when it's very cold. I had a heat tune-up, and the price was reasonable ($129 + tax) and Aaron was friendly and professional. I haven't been cleaning my washable filter, and he recommended using a regular pleated filter, telling me specifically what kind to get. He's going to get me a price to potentially replace the defrost board; however, the whole system is 15 years old, and he said unless we get a lot of cold weather it may not be worth replacing it given the age of the HVAC system. As an added bonus, their technician, Enrique, is an all-around terrific human being! When he was last at my house (18 months ago), my young daughter had recently been diagnosed with cancer. Enrique was absolutely amazing! Here's the story... we recently had a corporate company (which we were a member of for 3 years) come do a yearly systems check (it was working fine), add Freon, and then noticed the system wasn't working after they left. We had that same company come back out next day to check, they said the compressor was bad and I needed to either jump start the compressor ($500), replace the compressor ($4500), or get an entirely new unit (approx $15,000). I had Alternative Aire come out for a quote on a new unit, but Enrique wanted to look to see what the actual issue could be. Within 10 mins diagnosed that the capacitor was incorrectly wired causing the compressor to not start. Now it works very well and I could not be more pleased with his service. read more

They responded within an hour of my call to their office. Gas heat failed on my old split system. Enrique was the tech and he was fabulous. Listened to my description of the issue. Had the gas heating tubes dismantled in 10 minutes. Cleaned them and then reassembled everything in its proper orientation which is difficult. He let me watch him work and answered all my questions. I've used this company for years, including replacing my system 2-3 years ago, with excellent experiences until recently. In August, my AC went out. I made an online request for ASAP service, and followed up with at least 2 voicemail messages (no one picked the phone when I called) over the next several days. Nothing. Not even the courtesy of a reply to say they couldn't help for whatever reason. I even wondered if they'd gone out of business, but apparently not. My heater started making a rattling noise when the heater was cycling on. AA came out last year to replace a part that made the same noise, so I was thinking it was the same issue ($600 repair). The technician (and two associates) came out to check the issue and said it was the part from last year causing the noise. They quickly evaluated the part and found the rubber gaskets had come loose and only needed to be tightened! They also changed the air filter for me and did a quick diagnostic of a few other parts and gave me a thumbs up. No over selling or trying to twist my arm! I will never do business with this company. My AC went out at my rental, and I called this company after a friend had recommended their service since I don't live in the state. The tech came to the house and did the work without prior agreement. By doing this, the tech took away my right to verify the problem and compare costs. When I brought this up to the company and explained this was shady, they saw red and did their best to gaslight me by making me feel wrong to have wanted verbal communication before the work was done. I did demand that the coil cleaning be removed from my invoice because the tech explained to me on the phone that this was not part of the issue but because it was "dirty," it needed to be done. They might do good work, but not discussing the issues before doing the work is unacceptable. read more
