Within 45 min got a call from Tim saying he could send a Technician today around 4:30 pm. I had two other HVAC companies out, one said my thermostat was broken and I just needed to replace it but wouldn't replace it because it was a Carrier he suggested calling someone for a second opinion. Another told me it was needing a new compressor and capacitor and because it was a Carrier that would cost over $6,000 or replace the entire thing for $15,000 Nick came out was up front on everything: pricing, expected time spent, what he thought the issue was initially, once he figured out the issue he explained what he would do and offered his understanding of where other HVAC technicians went wrong diagnosing the AC problem. The Carrier website has a list of service providers and I went with them because of their rating. I rarely do reviews and only because i feel strongly positively or negatively. I went to go buy portable heaters from Lowe's which brought a little comfort. I saw this company "Optimum Air" a few times on my search and there were quite a few reviews. I'm normally drawn by the comments and reviews and I decided to give them a try. I called made an appointment and everything was professional. I even received a text confirming my appointment that day and later that day I received another text showing, "Michael from Optimum Air Co. its on the way." And it came with a link to track their arrival along with a photo of the person. This was really professional and loved the promptness. The tracker showed that his ETA is 2:03, which is right on time, and he came, right on time. I must say, Mike is very friendly, professional, and answered all my questions. The issue I was having was no power to the unit, and before then, the fan didn't turn off at all. He fixed both. He wired something, and showed before of the issue and showed me actually what he was doing. I was so pleased by the professionalism, that I requested a quote to replace my entire furnace and a/c, because I knew that eventually it will need to be replaced. I highly recommend them and I definitely trust their service. They weren't trying to be pushy and sell me anything or sell me a new unit. He just came, did his job, answered questions, smiled, friendly, and then left.

I then called Webb and they could come out right. The technician came out, and I told him the capacitor was needing to be replaced. He confirmed it was bad. He went to the truck came back with the proper replacement. Installed it and clobbered me with a $300 bill. The service call was $100 and the capacitor was $209! I got the part number and nowhere, and I mean nowhere sells the same part for price! That's like a 1500% mark up (math may not be correct)! I asked about a Senior discount as I'm over 65..and no they don't. I won't ever use this company, nor refer anyone to this company. What really ticks me off is that it was in the cooler part of the year. I really don't like to give a bad review to any company, but this aggression will not stand, man!

Even though they were not the least expensive option, we decided to use them because they were thorough, very polite, and accommodating. Hector and Oscar came out for two days and had us up and running. They were courteous, thorough, and respectful of me and our home. When they left we would never have known they were here other than the fact the house was cool instead of sweltering. They have a web-based bidding system which made it very easy to see what they were offering us and what exactly we would be getting. They came out for a second visit to look at other options and were very complete with their explanations.

They have been a pleasure to work with and extremely professional. I've requested their service three times since we moved in. Once for an assessment, once fir a problem and today to move forward with two of their recommendations. Their crew were great guys, polite, respectful and very neat and clean. Every area that they had to walk on was covered and vacuumed when they left. We had a crew of four and all were excellent. The main point of contact for us is Cory. He does all the tech evaluation, assesses the problem and fixes on site unless it needs equipment that needs to be ordered and replaced. Cory checked in three times today, once in person. I recommend highly and plan on using them going forward. If I could rate 6 stars, I would.

CoolTech Mechanical came to my home on Thursday, May 28, 2026, for routine HVAC maintenance on two…read moreunits. The technician was professional, knowledgeable, and did good work. My issue is not with the technician. My issue is with the office's billing after the work was already quoted, approved, and completed. During the visit, the technician advised that a capacitor was out of tolerance. He showed me the reading, quoted $155 for the replacement, and showed me CoolTech's pricing sheet on his phone before I approved the work. He then completed the repair and showed me the new capacitor reading. We had already agreed to $177.15 for the maintenance visit, so I expected the total to be $332.15 before any additional discount. Because we are a disabled veteran household, I asked whether they offered any additional discount. If the answer had been no, that would have been fine. Instead, the office later claimed that after a supposed 20% discount, the total was $389. That math does not make sense. When I questioned it, I was told the technician had quoted me wrong, even though he had quoted the price and shown me the pricing sheet before I authorized the work. This is a predatory billing practice: quote and show one price in the field, complete the work, then have the office bill a higher amount afterward while claiming the original quote was wrong. My broader concern is for elderly or vulnerable customers who may not feel able to challenge a bill. Customers should get a hard copy or take a photo of any quoted pricing before authorizing work. I was not allowed to speak with the owner who the office dispatch stated had died on May 4th. We paid the bill are choosing to not use CoolTech in the future.. The technician did good work, but the office billing experience was unacceptable.
