Was getting error 91 on my Trane 5 ton AC/Heater. Resetting the power would sometimes get it back up. Called them up and they had a "tech" out there in a few hours. I was surprised at the response time. More on that later... The tech checked out the system, and told me that the blower and the control board were bad. I asked for an estimate on repair and also replace. Paid about $90 for the service call. So, I was thinking about what the tech said. A bad board and a bad fan. I just couldn't understand that two items could go out at the same time, nor could I understand that if I did some resets, the unit would work for a while. Received the estimate for $861.17 for the control board and $2496.17 for the fan. Also received an estimate for $17,676.13 for a 5 ton replacement of the system. I was floored by the costs and suspected some "Tomfoolery" going on... I got on the interweb and looked up the parts. I could get the control board for $300 and the fan for $1,100 (as opposed to the quoted $861.17 and $2,496.17). The replacement 5 ton unit was about $6,000 (as opposed to the quoted $17,676.13). I emailed them and asked how long the work would take. 1-2 hours for the repair or 4 hours for the replacement. According to my math, that's way over $1000 an hour. So I went up into the attic, took apart the air handler, opened up the control box and disconnected and cleaned all the contacts. I then opened up the cover on the variable speed fan and did the same. Then I cleared all the error messages on the control box and fired it up. Been working fine with no errors. The tech told me that the control board needed to be "specially programmed." I saw all of the programming settings in the menu when I was playing around with it. Nothing special about it. So, probably the reason that they respond so quickly is to beat the competition there to get that job! If I made over $1000 an hour, I'd be flying a helicopter to the suckers houses to get the quote there quick. Looking back, the tech seemed more like a salesman... read more

I called about bedroom not cooling due to raccoons tearing up ducts. I had to have them come our 3 times and still not fixed. While doing maintence on the other unit, they claimed to detect a leak in the coil, but never opened the coil to verify. Instead their entire focus was on selling me a new unit. The only way that I got to the bottom of it was by putting my brother on the phone that owns his own a/c company in another town who was easily able to learn that I was being scammed. It's a shame as I trusted these guys and only called them for years. Now, I question if the last unit I purchased was even needed. Its a shame that this industry is so corrupt. read more

The back office was absolutely terrible to work with. Their initial rep was great which is why I signed up for the annual system maintenance. They said they would call to schedule my A/C checkup within a week and I heard nothing for two months. I called them a couple of times trying to get this sorted and finally just asked that they cancel the A/C and keep the Heating checkup. The gentleman agreed, said it would be refunded, and scheduled the heating checkup. I got a call to confirm my appointment and I asked about the status of my refund which they knew nothing about. At the end of the day I ended up just cancelling the full plan but not before they went back and took away credits and everything else. Total lack of integrity and follow through. Save yourself the trouble and find someone else. read more

Exceptional service, quality product, fair price We were out of town (enjoying a break from the Texas heat) when our son informed us the AC was not working. Texas Total Comfort Systems responded within 60 minutes. Our 17 year old system was toast. TTCS arranged to be on our door step the first morning we were back home. They arrived early and went to work. In just a little over 3-hours the unit in the attic and the unit on the side of the house had been removed and replaced. This company works under the name of Pate Air Conditioning but has been bought out and is not Pate. Their costs ballooned quickly from 100 to almost 700 and they did not fix lack of cooling.Before leaving they said to give the cooling system time to cool. They said that their job was guaranteed. The next morning when I called and let them know that the air conditioner was still not working, they said so would have to pay again. These people are frauds. Do not use them. read more
