I had an intermittent electrical issue with my car. Several other repair shops had demurred giving me an appointment, because they dislike trying to diagnose electrical issues. Enter Mechanical Solutions and Repair. Miguel had a look under the hood while I sat down with a book in the waiting area. I was willing to wait as long as it took to figure out the problem. In less than 10 minutes, Miguel calls me over and said he'd found the problem. A new part that another shop had installed last spring had become loose (read: had been improperly secured). Miguel had it fixed already with washers above and below the connection point and tightened down securely. I already know that I'll be bringing my vehicles to this shop in the future. No only had he listened carefully to the history of the troubles with the car, but he used it to help diagnose the problem. read more

Miguel is AN ABSOLUTE ANGEL!!!!! The first time I came here to get my rear suspension fixed because going over bumps felt like my back end was going to break off. I was over due for an oil change so they took care of that for me as well. They were able to identify other issues that I knew existed but weren't urgent to be fixed so I was thankful it was recognized. I left feeling fairly, if not under charged and knew I would be coming back the next time I had an issue. Well, that next time was today when my car turned off on me out of nowhere. Thank GOD it happened when I was driving down waterman and close enough to the shop. After panicking for a few minutes, I was able to get my car half way started and slowly chugged it along the side of the road with my hazards on until I got there. Miguel took a look and said they could fix it. I was fully prepared to leave it there all week but it was done in just a few hours. When he was finished, he politely let me know that the oil filter I was using before was actually the incorrect one and then gave me the box of the correct kind of filters to use in the future.
