I've used Automotive Solutions a few times so far for my old Duramax and my current 6.7 CTD. I usually try to do most of my work, but sometimes life gets in the way. I had the same mechanic for 40 years in Sacramento. Family friends, I knew no matter what I could trust them to get anything done. So when they closed their doors a few years ago, I was devastated. I went to 4 different mechanic in Elk Grove over 2 years for a variety of things from oil changes, to front wheel bearings to spark plugs. Every time, I felt funny. Either had things man-splained to me which I for sure did not need, or felt like I was being over charged. Then someone suggested I go to Automotive Solutions. I finally feel like I have a home again for repairs. The owner is super patient with my high maintenance a** and the guys in back are all super friendly. I don't understand at all this one star review from a dude who asked for photos and videos weeks after his repair. That sounds like someone trying to get out of a payment. My dad owned a body shop for 40 years... that is not standard practice anywhere unless it is requested on drop off. I would send ANY of my family members here for any type of repairs that fall under their umbrella. Bottom line is, if you want old school auto peeps who don't hide behind suits and flashy front offices... people who don't hire the kids fresh from the tech schools, who have been working with cars since they could hold a tool... go to Elk Grove Automotive, you will NOT be disappointed. read more

It's not easy finding a shop you can trust. This is one of those rare places. They've serviced a few of my classic cars as well as my daily driver and each time I've come away feeling like they hooked me up. They don't upsell you but they will let you know if they see something additional no pressure. They also don't leave you waiting or wondering what's going on. Great communication and quick turn around. It's the only general service shop I recommend and I don't even live in EG anymore but I will still travel or have a car towed here if I need work done I can't handle. read more

Took my family car in when I got a check engine light saying I needed a torque converter. I received great customer service from the office and mechanics in the shop. Knowing transmissions are not an easy job to do it got done in reasonable timing and my family was not out of a family car for a long time. I'm giving this place a one star as I thought in the beginning I wouldn't have a problem with them, but that wasn't the case. At first, they seem nice when I called in, but to start, they immediately after lied about how when the car was picked up, they were told it had suspension problems when driving it, but I verified that message was never given to them. I never had issues with leakage, they sent me photos of "leakage" they claimed was severe. I never noticed it nor anyone else, neither no photos of concrete or pavement oil stains. They also mentioned extra $1200 for these repairs trying to make some extra cash by any means, even if it meant finessing customers. Anyways, they had an attitude the whole process and would seemingly not like when you challenged them on these things to verify and understand more of their claims. So, to finish up, I'm in the army and I'm not in Elk Grove, but I requested evidence of the work and they said they don't have to provide proof of the auto parts used, like it was hassle I had to go back and forth with them just for simple things. They actually got emotional while I kept it professional and they threw stuff in my face because I mentioned I was done wrong by another shop. I would avoid this place. When I requested an invoice in the beginning because they were never even going to send one, they gave me attitude over the phone, trashy business. I will be seeing my car soon and I hope not to be scammed. Just literal basic maintenance stuff they provided no receipts or parts replaced like an oil change, spark plugs, brake fluid swap, coolant swap, knowing a customer is out the state, they should have the professionalism to show the customer evidence during and after the completed job, but failed to do so. Bad business practices. AVOID. Take your emotions and feelings out of place of business, don't belong there. Go to big name shops or the dealership. read more

My FIL vehicle started blowing hot air at the beginning of Summer, but we rarely use his vehicle, so we just decided to let it go. Well this week he wanted to get it fixed. Our first estimate was over $200 just to figure out if they could fix it and quoted over $2K to repair if they could. We had heard great things about Valerie and Automotive Solutions, so we like to patronize local businesses when we can. I called to set up an appointment for an estimate and they were able to get me in right away. The estimate was more than fair to check the air conditioning system. She came back with a cost of almost half of what I was quoted from another business. I gave her the green light and she said she'd have to order parts and it probably wouldn't be done until the next morning. The next morning comes and true to her word the vehicle was repaired and blowing ice cold air. It's great for a business to be accountable and stick to their word. That means a lot to me. We will be bringing all our vehicles for servicing to Automotive Solutions. If you need a reliable, trustworthy auto repair facility, look no further. I have had two cars worked on here and they are very nice and I believe very honest too.

Automotive solution was fair in price,, honest and timely. I'm a shade tree mechanic that does not like having to admit when I can't complete a repair and having to go to a shop. In this case I had no choice as my 2007 GMC Yukon Denali needed a rear main seal and an oil pan gasket. Valarie got my vehicle in right away and offered me a fair and reasonable price for the repair. As with any repair things are fluid and change. Valerie was outstanding at communicating with me throughout the repair and knew what she was talking about. I'm happy with my experience and may even decide to do a few less of my own repairs now that I have a reliable repair shop to go to! read more

Excellent customer service and repair. Valerie is very personable and compassionate. She goes the extra mile for her customers. She found me a great deal on a transmission, and then when the clutch also needed to be changed (she showed me the old one and pointed out the spots of wear, overheating, and cracks), ended up tracking down and finding me one when it seemed everyone, including the manufacturer, had them on backorder. I have struggled leaving this review as I thought I kind of knew Valerie and I don't try to damage business, specially small business but in this instance I got completely screwed. She got me in right away knowing my situation and knowing when I needed the car back. At the time I was extremely grateful that she was able to get us in as my husband was working a ton and was not able to do the work on the vehicle. I was taking my son to a month long hospital stay in Colorado and I was planning on taking my car. They decided to do extra work on my vehicle that I had asked her not to do and the vehicle was not done on time and therefore I couldn't pick it up. We had to take our only other vehicle and leave my husband without a car. They did deliver my car (after they did the work I had asked them not to do) and getting payment (I felt like I had no choice but to pay due to my situation, me not being in California and my husband not having a vehicle) and when my husband got the car back the spark plugs were not put in all the way so the car was not working properly. They also changed the radiator and put the wrong one in it. I end it up loosing my transmission because of this as my car was not cooling properly. My car has never worked the same ever since I got it back. I personally decided not to take it back because I feel that I cannot trust someone who has all ready done so much damage to my vehicle to try to fix it and thankfully my husband and son know engines so they knew exactly what was wrong with the car. I took my car in March and I end it up buying a new vehicle due to the damage done to my car. It has been extremely frustrating and I have lost a lot of money due to the poor quality of their work. I definitely will say, bring it to the shop at your own risk. I just know I my self will never be bringing my vehicles back to their shop. read more

This is a family run auto repair shop that does excellent quality work. The owner and manager, Mike Single, is also very trustworthy and won't charge for unnecessary services. I've been a regular customer for nearly 10 years. Be prepared to leave your vehicle and return when it is finished, usually around the end of the day. They have very limited accommodations for customers. Therefore, you'll probably need to have a ride to get home (or work) and a second ride to pick up the vehicle after work. read more

So my Excursion needed some A/C work done because we were going camping this week so i brought it down to see what they could do. In the middle of checking and fixing my issue he noticed my battery light was on (which i didnt notice till he showed me) and asked if i minded if he could check it out to which i said sure...had he not seen it on i would have been stuck somewhere with a broken vehicle because the alternator was shot. He then sent down someone to pick up a new one and installed it right then and there. The prices were good and the service was amazing and i recommend them to anybody who needs honest help. Prices are fair, i have serious concerns about the quality of the mechanics.Are they really certified? If the owner does the work, the job might turn out ok. If one of his suspect (Newly paroled) mechanics do the work, you will end up spending twice as much for several return visits and damaged parts because of poor installations, terribly long waiting periods for repairs to be completed, & repairs may not be warrantied. Do homework before committing any work to this shop. I refuse to any more! read more

They said they won't take long and when I pass by the place I saw my car was still the same way I parked it no one working in it . 10 mins later they called and said they've been working on it for 1 hour and said they have to charge more!
