She told the front desk, and they reassured her their products are vetted and they take "non-toxic" seriously, so she trusted them. During the facial, they applied a product that was visibly blue. After the service, the technician recommended the same product...so my wife asked to see the ingredients. Only then did we learn the product contains synthetic TOXIC dye/blue coloring and other ingredients that don't align with "organic/non-toxic" marketing that is ALL over their blogs and website - after it had already been smeared all over her face. Skin is the largest organ in the body, and with her sensitivity this is not a small issue. This was also for my wife's birthday, and instead of feeling cared for, she left feeling misled and completely violated. Our trust is broken. She brought her own products to use but they ensured that they could be trusted...... I emailed management and never received a response...3 weeks later, still nothing.

I would disagree, I think the pain level is about the same as waxing. If anything, waxing does a better job of removing hair than sugaring and is faster. The only difference is that waxing is really hot right when it touches the skin but that quickly goes away. I walked away with some random spots of hair on my arms that were missed and I don't know if that was due to the sugaring process or just lack of attention to detail. I noticed it too late so it wasn't worth coming back. Also, I normally get some red bumps after waxing and I got those again today (they go away after a couple of hours) so I don't think sugaring is any better than waxing. As for the facial, it was good but I haven't ever gotten one before so I can't really compare. I did leave with my skin feeling really soft and slightly red, but I think thats normal with a facial. I told her up front that this was my first facial, so she walked me through each step of the process as she performed it. Other than that, chatting was minimal and she didn't push a single product on me (perhaps it was because I told her I use Trader Joe's moisturizer? That probably shocked her system). The treatment itself was completely luxurious and left my face newly re-hydrated. I wasn't sure what to expect as to results, but this AM my face didn't dry up like the Mojave the second I exited the shower so I guess it's still hydrated, which is good right? Also - I LOVED the bonus neck/shoulder/arm/hand massage that's included with the facial. Just a word on the facility itself: This place is literally one room. There's no need to show up early for your appointment because you'll find yourself waiting in the parking lot staring at a door tastefully marked as "occupied" with a nice ribbon, much like your college roommate would do when she was shacking up with someone in your shared space. Once inside however, it's the perfect intimate space for a spa treatment. The fact that there is no foot traffic outside your door, or voices coming from up and down the halls, amplifies the intimacy and luxury of the treatment you receive. I enjoyed this treatment so much that I fully plan on returning to pay the full price ($95 + tip) for this treatment on a semi-regular basis.
