Not sure what happened to this place. Paper 'table cloths' toilet cake smell in the air, food came out cold, semi rude 'hostess'. Lots of staff but not a lot of patrons. Was pretty cheap for Dallas prices and the food that came out hot was was pretty good. More Highway diner vibe than Dallas Design District. read more

We came here on Thanksgiving for our brunch meal. We were running 10 minutes or so late. When we called the restaurant receptionist said that they will hold the table for 15 minutes. So, beware - if you want to eat there and you are running a bit late - you will be cancelled if they are busy. Have to valet park in the narrow parking lot. The waiters were attentive, but the food is overpriced. They have creative. cutsey names - had the one eye jack with description of pit smoked ham (dry thinly sliced) applewood smoked bacon(not cooked, not crispy) just an egg over easy on top toasted bread - bottom soggy bread although advertised as jalapeno cheddar bread. It came with soggy fries. Overpriced cocktails and craft beer. We also ordered their "Thanksgiving special" $32 - 4 slice of dry white meat turkey, lump of squash casserole, green beans, dressing and gravy - all with no flavor. It has a good atmosphere, and you can eat outside when the weather is nice, and it is in the Arts District. read more

Portions are shareable - which is great for my boyfriend and I! We prefer to do that. Food was fresh, very tasty! We got everything from salads, to a meat & cheese board, to the roasted chicken. Service was great too! Everyone was so kind and food was always brought out quick :) We sat at the bar, there are small TVs at the bar if you're looking for a place to watch something! Came in on a Monday night and the restaurant was packed. We were told there would be a wait for a table so we opted to sit at the bar. The service was great and a couple bartenders were very attentive. They have a ton of draft beer and a lot of variety, and bottled beers as well. Their craft cocktail game is on point and I enjoyed a great seasonal cocktail featuring tequila and pumpkin butter. The idea of this place is to share food with one another, however, we opted to enjoy separate dishes. My mom enjoyed her Sheep Herder's Pie and I had the Vegan Meatballs. The meatball dish was much larger than I expected, and quite filling, given that it didn't come with bread or anything. The flavor of the meatballs was great, enough sauce, and topped with fried onion. Really great! However, the dish came out room temperature. Would've been great to have it come out warm, and this was just an overlook but it didn't bother me enough to complain and I really didn't want to wait to eat. My mom's dish came out very hot. We enjoyed the ambiance here and would be a great place to come with friends or for a date night. The unique decorations even include stained glass windows (one of them is Elvis!). A suggestion I have to the restaurant is to consider marking which items are vegan or can be made vegan. I'm sure the gluten-free folk feel the same way about the menu markings. It makes us feel way more comfortable choosing to dine at a place where you don't have to ask a bunch of questions. It's just nicer for the diner and the wait staff. read more

Came in on a weeknight to have a girls night out. It was pretty busy the whole time but we were sat quickly. For happy hour I got a margarita. It was meh. It didn't have a ton of flavor and was heavily garnished and many times I found my self sucking up herbs that were in over abundance in my drink. We got the crispy chicken skin to start. They took a LONG time to come out. Like a good 25 minutes. But ok. Your busy. But when we got them I was a little irritated. They were not hot so they obviously had been sitting a while and only some of them were crispy. There was a sauce poured on top and on the spots the sauce was too heavy the skin was soggy. The the sauce was delightfully spicy, heat with good flavor. It was maybe an Asian type sauce not sure. But because they cold they were hard to bite through and even harder to cut. Poor execution or perhaps they sat too long but the flavor was good. We also got the Belgian mussels with frites on top. The fries were very small. Very frite like. They were warmish and crispy. I liked them. The mussels were tender and there were a good amount. But at least 5 didn't have a mussel in it or didn't open. The wine sauce that the mussels were in was my favorite part of the meal. Delicious, a little garlicky. We dipped out frites in the broth but there were so thin they they became soggy almost instantly. We asked for bread to go with it and it was much better. I could of drank the sauce. The place was busy. Service was slow and but our sever was decent. It was like $60 for 2 drinks and 2 plates. Over all a little bit of a pricey meal for just ok food. I'd return for the mussels but probably not much else. read more

Went for my first time today to celebrate my birthday for lunch. Started with hummus and baked feta cheese-pita was perfect, hummus tasty, feta piping hot and perfectly flavored. Then shared Cobb salad and Farrotto. Cobb was one of the best I've ever had, Farrotto was a creative and tasty twist on risotto. The grain was perfect and plump, and the mushrooms and cheese spot on! Only disappointment was we ordered olive oil cake for birthday cake and they had none and no carrot cake. Was told they were not ready. Really? On Valentine's Day, no cake???? Popped in for a quick lunch while in Dallas, what a perfect lunch spot! Despite being on a busier road the patio is quaint & peaceful, situated so that a slight breeze blew through while we dined. They offer several different seating areas- the main dining room, the patio & the beer garden, something for everyone. I enjoyed the roasted beet & carrot salad while my husband the short rib pie. Both were delicious in their own right, I would have liked a few more beets & carrots but overall I felt it was a decent value. The short rib pie was deceptively large, my husband unable to finish but was left thoroughly satisfied. Two thumbs up! read more

I usually don't dock off stars for service because I'm all about the food and I have never had service so bad that it truly affected a meal but for Meddlesome Moth...I have to take off stars. The service was so ridiculously slow that it ruined lunch. It was so slow that we ate appetizers at Meddlesome Moth (we planned on having a full meal here) and had a real lunch at Shake Shack. My sister and I came in at 2:00pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was 2/3 empty inside so I figured we got lucky and came at a good time because it wasn't busy. WRONG. It took 5 minutes before we got a table - which is fine - 5 minutes is nothing. They gave us the dinner menu when it was still lunch time but since it was my first time there I had no idea. 2:20pm - Finally ordering! It took our server 15 minutes to even get to our table to ask us for our order - as I was ordering she realized that our menus were the dinner menus since half of the items we ordered were dinner exclusive. Cool, so we sat there for 15 minutes basically wasting our time looking at the wrong menu while waiting on our server. She put in the half of our order that was lunch available - the Belgian mussels and the Bratwurst kolaches - and came back with the lunch menu so we could figure out what entrees we wanted. 2:40pm - 20 minutes after looking at the lunch menu, our food still hadn't arrived. We looked around at the restaurant that was now half full and saw other people who had gotten there after us already finishing their food. We had looked around the restaurant multiple times for our server but she was pretty much MIA. At this point, my sister and I decided that since service was so painfully slow we should get out of there ASAP. We would continue waiting for our mussels and kolaches and forgo ordering an entree because we did not want to be there all afternoon and have the dinner crowd come in and get their food before us. We spent the next few minutes talking about what we would get at Shake Shack. 2:47pm - We finally got our Belgian mussels and Bratwurst kolaches. The Belgian mussels were actually pretty tasty. I would give them a 4/5. The mussels seemed pretty fresh and the lemon white wine butter sauce had a great flavor. It came with a plate of un-toasted bread but we ended up submerging them into the sauce anyway so we didn't mind too much that they were cold pieces of bread. The Bratwurst kolaches were on the featured menu and were a major letdown. The pastry tasted like it came straight from a Pillsbury Crescent can. Each kolache was small and came with a tiny slice of Bratwurst. Not worth the $11. 3:00pm - Finished our food and asked for the check which she came back with at 3:05pm. 3:15pm - Our waitress finally came back with our credit card. Pretty disappointing to spend 1 hour and 15 minutes in a restaurant where we basically only ate appetizers. The only good things about Meddlesome Moth were the Belgian mussels and the guy (not our server) who kept coming over every 5 minutes to make sure our ice waters were filled to the brim. read more

This is a place that has been on my must try list for a very long time. I've heard good things from friends and based on the reviews here (and the design), I decided to visit while my husband and I were in the area. We came around 4:30pm on a Sunday so it was pretty empty and we were seated right away. We ordered the guacamole, mixed greens salad, steak sticks, pork belly bites, and cod & chips. The guacamole was standard, nothing too special. The greens salad was decent; a little too much dressing but the pomegranate and nuts gave it a nice crunch. The steak sticks were cooked to a perfect medium and they were delicious with the kimchee. The pork belly bites were nice and a thick cut but too much cinnamon. Almost overpowering the pork. The cod was nice and crunchy. The fries, I was so disappointed! They were so soggy!! Okay, food is decent but let's talk about price... wtf??! We paid $84.44 (not including tip) for this meal! We did get two drinks ($5 each) but then STILL! $74.44 for the food and we left not feeling full at all!! (And I'm a tiny Asian so it doesn't take much to fill me up) Service was great, our waiter was very nice, attentive, and helpful! BUT I don't know if I would come back here again for decent food and steep prices. read more

Maybe not the most modern of restaurants, but still a fine experience. We came here with a large group and were able to get a patio reservation. The patio is enclosed and has an air conditioning unit but isn't really air-conditioned, per-se. It was a brunch and the brunch menu had a ok number of options. I wish their menu had more vegetarian and vegan options. Specifically, there are not really any vegan options because every item has meat, eggs, or some form of dairy on it. I guess you can ask for it with no cheese but would prefer if they had some options that were more "stand alone" for vegans/dairy-free. I got the avocado toast and it was pretty ok. I was surprised at the ratio of toast to salad that it came with. The toast itself was pretty small and it came with a TON of salad greens. I would have preferred if they had done a bigger toast and less salad. I probably wouldn't come back on my own, but I do think they are able to accommodate a large group pretty well and keep everyone generally satisfied. read more

I had an amazing time here at meddlesome moth !! I had a 9:00pm reservation and ended up getting there 30 minutes later, although they closed at 10:00pm they didn't rush me or make me feel pressured! I had an excellent server!! Food was hot and served in a timely manner. We had the pork belly and duck wings as an appetizer which was amazing (the pictures do the taste no Justice) our entrees was the roasted chicken and ribeye steak!! Which also was very seasoned and not dry at all !! And for my drink I had a lemon drop which was great as well. Would definitely recommend this place for a date night ! We went to Meddlesome Moth to celebrate our successful offer to buy a condo near there in Oak Lawn, Dallas. It's a beautiful restaurant featuring stained glass tributes to three musical giants. Go see who they are! Their menu is creative and the food is delicious. Fortunately for me, this restaurant has vegan options. Sonny, our server, advised me on possibilities and worked with the kitchen to put together a highly satisfying visit. The stained glass windows along the wall mimicking a cathedral are wonderful and catch your attention. The food is good too. The duck wings are amazing. We got an order, then doubled down. I would've tripled down if I could. The pork belly, while highly recommended, were more of a dud. The beer list is long and full of good options, from hearty and high ABV stouts to hazy and hoppy IPAs. For less than $50 per person, we had the bone marrow, cheese/charcuterie board, wagyu beef tartare, pig & fig, half dozen oysters, rabbit pot pie, and their featured salad, which was honeydew, peach, figs, honey, watercress, and a cheese and prosciutto (and a drink each). My favorites by far were the salad, the tartare, and the pot pie. I was impressed by all that we could get for the price, and the quality of the food was impressive. Service was great, our server was attentive, fast, and friendly. It was relatively busy that night, but I didn't really ever feel like we couldn't find him, and the turnaround for food after ordering was pretty fast. There were a few mistakes (he thought I said hummus instead of lemons; someone else brought a drink to our table that wasn't ours), but everyone was so friendly and chill that it wasn't a big imposition. The most confusing thing about this place is the vibe -- what is it?! I'm super confused on if it's supposed to be dressy vs casual, pub vs open-kitchen concept, etc. Maybe the theme is that there is no theme? I wouldn't come back for the vibe for sure. read more

Great food! My girlfriends and I went today and we enjoyed every bite! I had the omelette with potatoes and the potatoes were some of the best I've eaten... the WAFFLE is EVERYTHING. My friend had the chicken and waffle and ate all of her food... that never happens! Another friend had the Mother and Daughter and it was equally as delicious. We had a small issue but it was resolved rather quickly. We spoke with the Manager, Ryan, and he was the nicest guy! We will surely be back! read more

2018 Christmas dinner review This was our 2nd year to celebrate Christmas dinner at MM, the first being last year (2017). A review from the 2017 experience would have been a full, enthusiastic 4 stars...maybe even 5. It was so good, we were excited to come back again this year. Sadly, while not a bad experience overall, we'll be looking for a new place to enjoy Christmas dinner in 2019. Positives: Very friendly staff and a very attentive waiter Amazing beer selection Creative menu options if you're in the mood to share Unfortunates: Limited specials for the holiday. Prime rib and a seafood platter. Last year, the duck special was off-the-hook good. The prime rib was sliced super thin and was just kind of blah--but priced at $45 for the smaller cut. It was also sitting alone on the plate in a 1/2" or more of au jus. Sort of a prime rib soup. Had it been a $25 slice of meat, my expectations would have been adjusted accordingly. Ambiance The indoor part of the restaurant is great, but our only seating option for our 6 pm reservation was a table for 2 in a busy path right by the entrance. The hostess very politely offered an option on the enclosed, mostly heated patio which she said would be nice and was quieter. Quieter and not in a traffic zone sounded great--and would have been except we got to look directly at this metal, industrial style aluminum bar against the wall. Not the kind of ambiance you want for the price point of MM. All in all, I'll come back to MM for drinks, appetizers or maybe even some of the sharable plates if I'm in the area. It still has a lot of positive things going for it. But, it won't be a place I'll spend $200 again for a holiday meal. They played music at the correct level and we sit and vibed for my friend's birthday. They were SO GOOD but the portion very large and they are very rich - I couldn't eat them all but I could imagine this is great to share with a few people and some beer. I also had the mussels - they were quite good. The beer taps here are insane. I'm not a huge beer person but if you are you must go - the entire bar is lined with beer taps across - had to be at least 25 different beers (if not more) on tap. Many of them craft. read more
