Two seemingly different worlds blended into a unique concept. Now I can't speak to utilizing any of the pharmacy services and products, but when it came down to their drinks. It definitely was better than I expected. I expected the drink to be mediocre the same way I expect hometown buffet's take on gourmet food to be. That being said the only direction to go is up and definitely enjoyed it. I had the mango green tea and it was super refreshing. This is my second time going to Medella Boba, first time was a week ago for a Yelp Elite event. I figured I would write a review for the business this second time around since I am a paying customer now. Overall I'm giving this boba spot 5 stars. Their drinks are fantastic! I had a coconut milk tea and it was delicious! Better than at a few other boba locations I've tried it at. I also bought a Green Apple Lemonade and it's really good, super refreshing. I also love the concept of the pharmacy and soda fountain shop reminiscent of the olden days (lol). For a weekend, it's not too busy with plenty of seats inside and plenty of parking. Overall, highly recommend Medella for some good Boba! read more

Perhaps the most unique new business to Downey to date is Medella Pharmacy and Boba. A popular hangout in the afternoons for Downey High students, I made my first visit here well in advance of their after school shenanigans for my own boba break. The staff is very nice and helpful. Don't be surprised if one is working in the pharmacy and comes out to greet you (and washes their hands before creating your drink). Good place for a refreshing iced tea or coffee... or both. The boba isn't my absolute favorite - it's just a bit too hard. Deeply appreciate this business helping out our daughters' PTA fundraiser. This must be the place where they send all the Chick-fil-A and In-N-Out employees to train on how to have amazing customer service, because... ...EVERY single employee that works at Medella Boba, and I mean all of them, has been the nicest, most friendly and customer oriented employee ever. You can sense it in their smile and demeanor and way they treat you. They're just so happy and not in a fake way. You would swear making drinks for customers was their dream since they were little. This is their calling! Kudos to every single one of you! (I apologize that I don't remember each of your names!) As for the drinks, I've only ever had the Java Chip with whip cream and boba and dang has it always come out tasty! I literally think about coming here after work on the way home. This boba shop quickly has become one of my favorites. My usual go-to spots are either in Artesia or Cerritos, so knowing that this place is in Downey (where I live), coming to here is much more convenient and time appropriate. I'm very heavy on quality of boba and theirs is really good here! And the consistency of the drinks are also really yummy as well I've tried different frappes--white chocolate mocha, pistachio, spiced cocoa and strawberry banana. I've tried one tea and one slush! The only thing I WISH THEY HAD or would consider having in store is adding Matcha to their frappe's My mom and I both love matcha and there's this spot out in Gardena (by my moms work) that sells them really good. Very interesting setting. As other reviews have indicated, this boba spot is located in a local pharmacy. Not the most common setting I've seen, but it definitely adds some flavor to this place! Taste was good, but it was hard to give it a 5 because I've had this exact drink elsewhere for the last 7 years and think that they have a better mango green tea. Very nice and answered all our questions since it was our first time there. They sell cute little stickers, AirPod cases and keychains too. We ordered a Tiger Tea, Honey Milk Boba and Matcha. The only one we loved and would go back for is the Tiger tea. It's a mix of milk tea and Thai tea. Matcha needed more flavor, it was simple. Honey milk boba was very aromatic, I personally wasn't a fan at all. Only suggestion would be to put more ice in cups. Great experience today 2-22-2020 at the pharmacy. They have anything you need as far as over the counter drugs. They are willing to look into getting anything they don't have.
