If I could give Mediacom 0 stars, I absolutely would. Mediacom is the absolute worst service that I have ever had the displeasure of being forced to have in a rural town. Customer service is absolute dog shit. They will never actually tell you a solution to your problem, only beat around the bush. The internet service is absolutely atrocious. Does not stay connected for more than a couple hours at a time. Constant replacement of fried modems. I wish someone would put Mediacom out of business. But that won't happen so long as they can force small towns to use them. read more

Have had mediacom service for over a year; never had a problem. However, in the past month my service - Internet only, through which my banking, Netflix, and school work all rely upon - has gone out twice. No big deal right? Nothing's perfect. Except that getting a technician out to my house to fix the problem takes 7-10 business days. This means that my home is completely without service for over a week- twice in one month! The first time I was completely without Internet (8 days total) was during finals week. So that was fun. This time it's gone out the week before Christmas, when 95% of my online shopping gets done. Sorry kids, Christmas is on hold this year while I wait 6 days for mediacom to roll through and spend 15 minutes fixing the problem. Customer service is very nice, but completely useless when it comes to resolving the issue in a TIMELY manner. And there's absolutely no other option; residential customers are the lowest priority (below business customers, for example) despite the fact that having a reliable Internet connection is basically essential for functioning these days. Spent over an hour on hold with an outsourced C.S. rep somewhere overseas (I think India but also possibly the Philippines) only to be told that sorry, 6 days from now was the absolute soonest a technician could come out and service the modem. (p.s. I don't live in bumfuckville anywhere; literally 3 miles from the nearest satellite office). This is insane, there's GOT to be a better system! I can understand it happening once, but twice in one month!? At this rate I've gone more days without Internet this December than days with adequate service. Which I pay for. Which is the only service I need to consistently function properly. Great customer service - really nice people, and they TRY to be helpful - but terrible, TERRIBLE response time. If Mediacom were an ambulance service the pets would have already eaten my face out of desperation and then gone into hiding in an effort to escape the smell of my extremely advanced, decomposing body. read more

I have lived in several cities in Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia and Alaska. This company is by far the very worst cable company ever and I have no other competing companies available to me, in this area. I could not get reliable internet service for the first six months of service, but that's only the beginning. They would send someone out, say they have fixed it, leave and then I had problems getting online. This happened over and over and over again. One of them came out and actually had the audacity to accuse me of stealing cable from the neighbor. As it turned out, I have two cable boxes because we have an addition to the house. They (all of them) were completely ignoring the huge cable box that was located on the very same side of the house as the other one. The jerk who made the accusation even went so far as to drill a hole through my wall right beside my front door to "rewire" it, which wasn't necessary. A FREAKING HOLE!!!! I know this wasn't necessary because when I asked him about that second box, he literally said, "That's not ours." I then asked him why it said Mediacom in HUGE FREAKING LETTERS on the box. I could actually see the blood drain from his face, but did he even apologize? No. The moron freaking drilled a hole in the wall because he didn't even bother looking at the other box!!! Then let us discuss, for a moment, how I nearly got fired because of Mediacom. I had problems again and they said they'd send a tech out on a certain day. There was no tech, he was a no show. I missed an entire day of work for that. Oh, but we're only getting started here! When I called them they assured me that the next day they would come. They didn't. I was livid when I called back again. It took them 4 freaking days... FOUR... to finally show up. I missed FOUR days of work because of these people and nearly lost my job. Then there was the problem with sending out the wrong tech person. They would send out an indoor tech, who would tell me that I needed an outdoor tech. I would call to schedule the outdoor tech, telling them that this is what the tech said that day. They would send me another freaking indoor tech. This went on several times as well. When I called the final time and I insisted that it had better be an outdoor tech, he actually said to me, "No, you need an indoor tech. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about." I then launched into a tirade. No company has ever made me so angry! I didn't cuss, but I was freaking pissed off. The service reps weren't even bothering to READ THE FREAKING HISTORY OF MY ACCOUNT, WHERE TECHS WERE LOGGING IN WHAT I REALLY NEEDED!!! Now today, here I am, once again, with a spotty connection. I had three Mediacom employees tell me that outdoor lines need replacing every 2-3 years. It's been 5. Well, 4 really if you count how long it took them to realize that you insert line A into slot A. This is something a 3-year-old would have known. I just called them and no surprise, they are sending an indoor tech, refusing (even after I spoke to the supervisor) to send me what I am requesting. That's right, the customer is NEVER right according to Mediacom's policies because they have a "protocol" to follow which doesn't include making the customer happy. If you Google my user name with the keyword "reviews", you'll see that I've written tons of reviews all over. Not once have I ever said, "don't use these people" or "don't buy it". I won't break that rule, but I am giving you fair warning here. You will be VERY sorry if you decide to go with this company. Their history is not just a one time problem. This has been going on for years. If you decide to use Mediacom, prepare for damage to your house, missed days at work and to be treated very VERY badly and disrespectfully. I cannot stress this enough. Use them at your own risk and consider yourself gravely warned. read more

Mediacom knows what the problem is. The node that my area is connected to has too many users to offer the experience that they advertise. My internet is constantly off and on every 2 or 3 mins. Its so frustrating trying to run a home business. When it works its amazing but... it doesn't work in Creola Alabama. read more

Worst Internet provider experience ever! They lost our install check and then put the pressure back on us for their mistake... said they would fire the install person if we didn't write another check. No one was ever held accountable for losing our personal information. Funny thing is that we tried to use a card to pay for the install but the install rep didn't want to hassle with getting on the phone to do this and encouraged us to write the check, which was lost. Total incompetence! Of course we wrote the check so they weren't fired. Two months later another/different check was sent back to us torn in half with a note that they couldn't process our payment because the check was torn, which resulted in a past due amount. Seriously!!?? Thank goodness it was only a temporary situation where we moved 2 months later and were able to cancel this service. Had them in another State and didn't have these issues so must be this office. Based on this recent experience, will NEVER use Mediacom again anywhere and would not recommend them to even my worst enemies, well maybe to my WORST enemies.
