Ordered a bunch of togo food and loved all of it. The shrimp lavosh was amazing and the tabboleh was perfect.

First dinner at the Mediterranean Bistro was over a year ago. Ordered the Seafood Kabob and Shish Kabob, but was disappointed. Food was dry and tasteless. Like A.L., I was certain that it must've been an off night...after all, many of my friends and family rave about this place. Last Saturday evening, gave it another go. A little post Turkey Day family dinner. Ordered the Appetizer Platter to start (which includes hummus, baba ghanoush, dolmeh, falafel and spanakopita). I'm giving them a thumbs up for the falafel. On the recommendation of our waitress, I ordered the Lamb Shank with the barley soup. My daughter (also a serious foodie) gave the Royal Sultani Kabob with salad a go. Yet again, I thought the overall meal was pretty okay. It's not so much that the food is bad, it's just boring. The Lamb was cooked well, but the flavor of the tomato based sauce lacked any dimension. The Royal Sultani Kabob (comes with two types of meat) was cooked well, but again, was missing just a little something. I also tasted the Pomegranate Chicken (a bit too sweet and dry) and the Spicy Toss Kabob (which wasn't very spicey, but did perk up with the addition of the spiced sauce on the table). The house salad was a bit overdressed and wilty. The barley soup can improve slightly if a) it's served hot and b) you squeeze a lemon wedge or two in it. The Baklava was sweet, so sharing two orders among 10 people worked well. You should expect to spend about $15 per entree, give or take a few dollars. Again, not on my recommended list, but will more than likely eat here again in the next year because someone in my circle of peeps will have a craving- the reason, however, will continue to remain a mystery to me. read more

Mediterranean Bistro is not only the best *Mediterranean* restaurant in Omaha, it is one of the best Omaha restaurants! From the inviting and authentic decor to the helpful and knowledgeable staff, this place is tops. The tabbouleh salad is a refreshing change from your typical side dish. The kabobs are wonderful, particularly the chicken kabobs, marinated in yogurt, skewered, and grilled to perfection. The grilled vegetables are delicious. Wow what a great place. The lamb shank was so tender and the sauce was amazing. Great blend of root vegetables to accompany the meal. The chicken kabob were delicious also. We love Mediterranean Bistro, food is always excellent. Have the hummus and baba gunoush appetizer. All the kabobs are excellent but I love (an always order) either the Chicken Tabuli salad or the FESENJUN (Chicken in pomegranate sauce) with rice. a group of 12 of us went there on a tuesday. Except for 2 other people we were the only ones there. It took almost 3 hours for our meal, water glasses were not refilled and when several of us ordered dessert, the waitress rolled her eyes. at the end of our evening, the kitchen staff took the trash out walking out right next to our table. We went back to this place after 12 years few weeks ago. I don't remember what we had that time however their menu looks very diverse mixed for kabob to curry. Good selections and like the ambience also. Although we went for lunch and did not order any wine but looks like they have good selections of wine as well. read more

This place used to be so good, so either their kitchen staff had a really bad day or someone is intentionally trying to take this restaurant down. My family agrees this is the worst meal we have ever experienced. We picked up take-out and we simply could not even stomach it. The Kubideh Kabob was so tough and hard it was difficult to cut through it with a knife. How does ground beef get that tough? The Ghormeh-Sabzi was the saltiest thing we have ever tasted in our lives. No one would take more than one bite. And the Eggplant Pilau was way too sweet. Bottom Line: We tossed it all in the trash and called in an order to Jaipur and, thankfully, the Jaipur delivered the same consistency of delicious food. read more

The food here is good but if you want great service or nice staff, not the place to go! We usually carry out and we are regulars and this one time is making us definitely not go back! Tonight when I called, the waitress was extremely rude and interrupted me before I even got finished ordering. She didn't ask what kind of dressing I wanted for a salad and assumed Italian and when I got to the restaurant, she wanted to charge me a lot extra for a side of ranch so I asked her to replace it instead of the Italian and she seemed annoyed that I would even ask such a thing. She was just not pleasant whatsoever and has no business working for a restaurant, she should be behind a desk and not in the public! She was awful!!! Also, they charge a ton for very small portions, I had 3 tiny pieces of chicken and a ton of sauce. They used to have a lot bigger portions but not the case anymore!!! My father in laws stead kebab was very chewy and not edible tonight. This restaurant has truly gone downhill and we won't be going back and I will be telling everyone about our bad experience and not to go back!!! Saturday night 6:30ish and lots of open tables the entire time we were there but hostesses seemed irritated we didn't have a reservation. They sat us in the back corner booth. Fine we were ok waiting, actually expected to wait but no wait. Service was SLOW!! From the time we were seated until drinks arrived probably 30 minutes! Food was ok, we had lamb, steak, chicken & salmon at our table and by far the best was the steak kabob meat! If we go back will definitely get the steak kabob salad! She had way more meat and veggies on her huge salad than any of us got on our kabob plates! It was terribly hot in our crammed little booth and for the slow service I'd be hard pressed to go again. I will say the cucumber Bloody Mary was delicious. Excellent, authentically Mediterranean dishes plus a couple of fusionesque offerings. The fesenjan ("Pomegranate and Walnut Chicken") is comparable to what you'd find in a Persian joint in L.A. However, the mound of rice is about 1/4 the size -- just FYI. We wish they served albaloo polo too. I've been here several times, and I've always had a good experience. I love, love, love the lamb kebab. The vegetables are perfect, the lamb is moist and well prepared. I've recommended this place to several people. It's maybe a little more expensive than most, but just a little. It's worth the money. It's usually pretty quiet on a weeknight. I've not tried a lot of things on the menu, but the meals I've had have made me want to go back. I would recommend this restaurant. read more

After reading through the reviews, I figured I would add my own since I used to work here many years ago. Through the years since then, I have periodically stopped back in...sometimes take-out, sometimes bringing a friend to dine-in. I will say that there are some definite hits and misses with the food. Hits: spanakopita, lavosh, hummus & baba ghanoush, chicken kabobs, tabouli. Misses: pomegranate chicken (too sweet), Sabzi (somtimes bland). I know firsthand that the food quality is very high, but I have witnessed the price increase over the years to the point of being unreasonable. Quite a few people have complained about the service...one of their main servers is great (very attentive & helpful) but some of the newer servers have clearly not been trained well. Overall, I gave it 3 stars because of the inconsistency of food & service. read more

Seriously.....we have ordered from this place multiple times and each time, they mess up our order. And every time they mess it up the order it is to their benefit. For example, today I ordered 2 veggie skewers, a side of feta and olives, spicy toss chicken, and a small plate of shish kebab. What I received was two veggie kebabs (15 dollar difference in their favor), an appetizer size of feta and olives (4 in their favor), a kubideh versus the small plate (7 in their favor) and veggie spicy toss versus the chicken (2 in their favor). Been going to your restaurant for many years now on & off AND once again after leaving lunch Tuesday decided I had to complain!!! It doesn't matter what you order or how many people you have in your party it takes WAY too long.. I'm talking 25 mins to get a Greek salad with grilled chicken. Decided to give it a try after a recommendation. Location is a little hidden and was a bit skeptical based on dates appearance of the interior. Menu states they've been in business 20 years and decor backs up that claim. Had a steady stream of patrons (seemed to be mostly an older clientele) so they do a good amount of business. We tried the Appetizer Platter to get a sampling and enjoyed everything but the Dolmeh which although had a lot of flavor seemed a little overlooked. We were highly disappointed that they were out of spanakopita, but at least they offered a sub. Seems odd to be out of a popular appetizer so early in the evening on a Saturday night. We got the Combo Kabob and the Caspian Lamb Kabob for our main course. The beef was so tender it was amazing! And the flavor of the chicken as fantastic too! This place has the best Mediterranean place in Omaha. We get their catering all the time at work and I've also ate in a few times and the food is always good and fresh. The beef and chicken kabobs are my favorite, as well as the pitas, rice and grilled vegetables. My only few complaints about this place is sometimes it makes me a little tummy sick and also the service could be better. When ordering catering over the phone once the lady who answered lectured me about calling at a busy time and told me to call back later. My last issue is the decor, this inside of this place is really dated and it could be cleaner but overall the food is wondeful. read more

I ordered the falafel wrap, with a side of potatoes. I was given a choice of tortilla flavors, I chose the spinach. The wrap was VERY good. Th falafel was crunchy and nutty flavored. The lettuce and vegetables were fresh. It was served with a small dish of tadziki & hummus. The potato's were also good, but did not stand out like the wrap. We went on game day, so the place was empty - only 3 tables were occupied. We had the appetizer platter, vegetarian knobs and chicken kabobs. The dolmas were warm and very good. Gross! Rude and unkept staff! Food was cold and of poor quality. We were one of five tables dining for lunch. While the staff loudly discussed tattoo shop preferences, cats and going on a smoke break a fellow guest had to get up from his table to ask for the check. Our check however, was laid on the table before we were finished. I will not be surprised when they go out of business! walked in average dress. everyone was decked out. waitress didn't want to seat us. had my daughter who asked if they had rice 4 times. and the waitress never answered her.. ordered 2 salads which took an hour to get. served 5 other tables that came in after us. i used the restroom saw our salads in the back. asked the waitress how long it takes for a salad. right before she brought them too us. her child that is in a car seat behind the counter needed a diaper change. so she did that and you can see her walking back with kid on hip and dirty diaper in hand, then brings our salads. so needless to say we didn't stay or eat or pay. rudest people i have ever met. we weren't dressed nice enough for them. i firmly believe they tried to wait us out in hopes we would leave before they have to bring us our food. all because we didn't look nice enough for them. never go there again!!!!!!! oh and by the way the other waitress was half dressed. wife beater with black bra hanging out. but we weren't dressed nice enough. read more
