On our first visit, they were closed, so when we gave it a second shot months later we were happy to see they were open. It's a little hard to find, and navigation apps are going to give you two different options that both make no sense, but persevere...it's worth it! The menu didn't note which items were or could be vegan and gluten free, but I knew Mediterranean food had a high likelihood of having both. I asked for options that would work for me and ended up with a plate of falafel, grape leaves, hummus and cucumber salad. The couple working were extremely helpful and the food came out quick. You order at a window and wait for your food. It looks like there could be an area for sitting inside where stuff is stored now - maybe that was fallout of the past three years. If they used to have seating, hope it returns someday! The food! It was delicious and filling and very high quality. Whenever I'm in the area, I will make it a point to stop in. read more

Very unassuming spot with tasty food and limited hours (thus, why it took us so long to get over here). We are big fans of Naf Naf and Yassin's and needed some yummy options closer to home in Oak Ridge. While I honestly still prefer the other options I listed above a bit more, this is a solid offering and I love supporting hyper-local mom and pop spots. Also, the service was good and the food came out fast and fresh. We ordered a lamb plate and a gyro plate (this wasn't on the menu, but they offer it), and some pita chips to go with the hummus. We loved that the plates come with a good-sized portion of salad and had a ton of meat on top of a bed of rice. Note that there are no salad additions like feta, olives, onions, or peppers like many Mediterranean salad varieties come with. The salad was flavorful and well-dressed in a greek dressing with cucumbers and tomatoes.The lamb was tender and flavorful and the gyro was sliced thin but not as much flavor as we have had elsewhere in Knox. The pita chips are heavily seasoned and very thin and crispy. I don't think we would order them again because there was nothing to dip them in. We also split a samosa, which was thin and lacking flavor, if we are being honest. It had a thin layer of mushy potato and a few green peas with no notable seasoning inside and the dough tasted more like a flakey breakfast pastry than a fried maida flour dough. Personal preference, as I know many people like the phyllo dough variety. This is the one item I would not recommend. The rice we hardly ate any of. It was well-cooked but no real flavor or sauce to make it worth the calories...and that's coming from a carb- connoisseur. ;-) There was a tiny little container with each plate that I guess was hummus? We thought it was tzatziki sauce because it was so runny. It tasted good but there was no way we could dip the chips in it. We ended up pouring it over the meat, which was yummy! We will try falafels and chicken shawarma wraps next time and have feta at home to sprinkle on our salads. read more

This is an Oak Ridge hidden gem - If you are looking for delicious and home made Mediterranean food, you will not be disappointed. The restaurant is tucked away at the end of a shopping mall and only does pick up outside of one small table for 2. First time. Service was prompt and courteous. Ordered the Lamb Schwarma and Grape Leaves. Both taste wonderful. The lamb is properly cooked, great flavor and easy to chew. The food was delivered hot and fresh. The ride home was difficult because the aroma in the car was inviting. Definitely going again. read more

This food was delicious. I am only giving it a 3 because of the pita bread. It is not good at all. It is reminiscent of a flour tortilla just cut into triangles and quickly browned in a pan. The grape leaves, hummus, veggie salad, and falafels that I had were all absolutely fantastic! I recommend this place for sure, but just be prepared with your own pita if you want it to have any heft to it. read more

What a gem! I'm glad I read the reviews ahead of time so we knew what to expect - a hard-to-find hole in the wall with fresh, delicious food. I loved every bite of my veggie combo platter (crispy falafel, Mediterranean salad, stuffed grape leaves, pita and hummus). Definitely the best hummus I've ever had. Go here now! :) My boyfriend and I wanted some Mediterranean food and I did a quick Google search and this little gem popped up! It was a little out of our way, but very glad we went to check it out! Absolutely delicious! I got the veggie wrap and he got the chicken kabob combo! We also ordered the homemade hummus and warm pita bread . The owners were very informative and very kind and welcoming. The day we went, we didn't have the option to sit inside and eat, we could still observe that they were very clean inside and take care of their business. We took it to go and had a nice picnic in the park nearby across the street! I will definitely be back and recommend this place to friends and family! read more

This is a hidden gem in Oak Ridge! I've eaten here three times, gotten different things each time, and all were amazing. I attached a pic of the falafel wrap and I was starving so I got a samosa too. The wrap is huge! Didn't need the samosa (potato filling) but it was delicious. They also have a "delight sauce" I always get on the side because every meal needs a sauce. It is great! They do make everything fresh so I typically call in an order and go pick it up. The food tastes very authentic (not that I'm an expert). Highly recommend! read more

I used to swear by this place. A recent 1 star experience reduced this 5 star review into 3. The chicken skewers are normally so good, freshly seasoned and freshly grilled. But when I came in recently they tasted like nothing. Flat out..nothing. Pass the salt please. The tabbouleh was also really wet and watery and soupy. Gross. The hummus was pasty gravy. And the dipping sauce was spoiled yuck. I can't even describe what old herb or vegetable exploded in it. But I just wince at the smell. Blech.Makes me shudder from the nastiness. I couldn't even finish my meal. In the past it's been a lot better than this. Off day, maybe? You got to be a reliable spot, man. After a handful of visits, I'm off to find a new Mediterranean place. So so so so good. Truly authentic stuff. Refreshing from the Americanized Mediterranean food usually found locally. The prices were very fair. I got a greek salad with lamb and the lamb was just phenomenal. The taste and tenderness was amazing. We tried the pita and also had a combo plate with chicken and with rice and the tomato cucumber salad and the baba ganoush. I know I spelled it wrong but you get it. We also had some baklava!!! This was a 40 mins drive for us but with all the high reviews and stars, we had to try. And we are so happy we did. Owners were very pleasant and welcoming. I only had the Greek salad and Somosa for lunch, due to a dinner party later that night. The salad was pretty decent, my only complaint was that the olives were not pitted. The Somosa was very good, with peas, carrots, potatoes and spiced nicely. Next time I'm up that way, I will have to try their entrees. they definitely are popular, as there was a pretty good flow of take out's going on when I was waiting. read more

At Mediterranean Delight, "Mediterranean" means the foods of the eastern Mediterranean region (places like Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, and Israel) -- hummus, baba ganouj, kebabs, tabouleh, pita bread, stuffed grape leaves, tabouli, moussaka, baklava, and the like. It's in seedy-looking surroundings on the back side of the Ridgeway Center shopping center -- although the address is Bus Terminal Road, it's actually much closer to Division Road. (From Division Road, you can get to it from the unmarked entrance road just north of the auto body shop. Alternatively, turn off Oak Ridge Turnpike into the "Methodist Medical Therapy" lot -- and follow the driveway on the right to pass the big Methodist Medical building and find Mediterranean Delight back behind things.) Don't let the surroundings worry you -- the friendly, hard-working couple who own and operate the place (and who hail from Jordan, I recently learned) take pride in quality, as indicated by the high score on the restaurant inspection sheet posted on the wall. They can accommodate pretty much any appetite, offering appetizer plates, salads, sandwiches, complete dinners, and catering trays with lots of choices to serve a crowd. Vegetarians will not feel restricted, as many menu items are meat-free. Customers are advised to call ahead, and allow about 20 minutes for hot entrees that are cooked to order, such as beef kebabs and chicken tawook (skewered chicken, served with rice). Lured in by positive reviews. It is hard to find, but I persisted- to my later regret. Ordered lamb shawarma wrap and water to drink. Was directed to small dining room next door. Noted no bathroom available. Fortunately my need for one was not urgent. After about ten minutes my wrap arrived, but without the water. Wrap was way under seasoned and very bland as a result. LOVE this place!!! There's no way words can be sufficient. This place is out of the way, and tiny. Unless you knew about it, you'd likely never find it. There's no fine-in unless you want to eat outside, but it's very worth it. The owner prepares each order as it is ordered. The food isn't sitting around waiting to be served. He is great about gluten free food if you need it, and his sign advertises gluten free meals. His food is beyond excellent and very authentic to the food genre. Don't let the physical appearance or location fool you. This is one of my favorite places to eat in town. Real food made by real people. Nothing processed or packaged. Just really good food. Kind of off the beaten path to find this place but once you do, it's a cute little place with great service and tasty food. I ordered the combo plate with a chicken kabob, baba ganooj, and tabouli. It was all pretty tasty. Prices are reasonable. They do have a little room next door to where you place your order, with tables and chairs to sit and eat. For the area, I wasn't expecting to find any good ethnic foods but this place is decent. I would try something other than the kabob next time though. read more

This place is awesome! My husband, who does not like this "kind of food" loved his meal. He got the beef shawarma and I got the beef kabob. I treaded lightly, just in case he did not like his. I wanted to be able to switch orders. He will never be able to say he hates "this kind of food" again. Awesome food... no kidding! We are both fans of Mediterranean Delight. We will be back. hmmm...I'm a little confused as to how/why this place is so raved about. In their defense, we did order it to go and something gets lost in translation from take-out 9 times out of 10. The 7 layer dip tasted more like 7 years old dip. It was just flavorless and it had cheese! How can cheese have no taste? Only if it is old. My assumption is that this dip had been sitting for a few days and the only thing you could taste were the olives. Gross. The hummus was interesting. It was thick but yet runny. I will say lumpy. That is probably the best way to describe it. The pita bread was that kind that is basically a cut up wrap. You know what I mean...we've all had that before. The falafel wrap wasn't bad...just wasn't anything special. My associate had the Chicken Kabob and said it was disgusting. She said it was spiceless and tasted old as dirt. The sauce that was served on the side was so nasty it almost made her throw up. The rice was dry. Overall we were disappointed. Maybe we came on an off day.
