This is a great local pizza spot located in the South End. They have an outdoor patio that's fun to sit out on during the summer. I feel like it's pretty casual during the day, but can still be a good date night spot in the evening. The servers have always been so nice when I go! They make wood fired pizzas and their Pepperoni is my favorite. The crust is nice and charred/crispy too, which I like. They also make their own ice cream and have pints for sale! My cousin and I ordered the Alsatian pie which had sauteed onions, shallots, garlic, creme fraiche, bacon & gruyere cheese. The pizza was perfectly crispy but also soft where it needed to be. Give that pizza a monster score. It was perfect. Crispy, no flop, good undercarriage... if you know, know. I got a simple pepperoni but the waitress recommends the sausage, fennel & ricotta. Pro Tip: Save room for ice cream. Most specifically, the coffee chocolate chip cookie scooped ice cream. Sourdough-styled pizza, made fresh. Once dough runs out for the day, options become minimal. With that being said, there are plenty of options still available, event at 9 PM. Can order a Small pie (10 in/4 slices), which serves 1-2 people. Can also order a Large pie (14 in/8 slices), which serves 2-4 people. The Alsatian is, most definitely, the best pizza option on the menu. Caramelized onions, shallots, garlic, creme fresh, bacon and gruyere. Chef's kiss! Our second option, the mushroom Swiss Chard, was just meh. Picco is love, Picco is life. Service has always been friendly and efficient. It gets busy, but you don't feel cramped. Great place to catch up with friends and colleagues. The line to get ice cream can get long in the summer. I can't say I like everything on the menu, but that's okay because there's always ice cream at the end. The meatballs are kind of bland. The acorn squash and brussels spouts are delicious. The hot honey wings are yummy, but a bit dry. The rigatoni and sausage were scrumptious. The alsatian pizza was meh. Sausage fennel and ricotta was fantastic. Four cheese is also really good. But honestly with the pizzas you can just add whatever toppings you want. Now the ice cream. This is my love letter to Picco's ice cream. You get so much ice cream in the small (photo) for just $5. You can also get a kids for $3 and it's a great size scoop! I love that the flavors changes and I haven't tried a flavor I didn't like. And don't disregard their dairy free flavors, they make them so creamy! The dark chocolate sorbet and the peach flavors were both delicious and made me question how they were dairy free. Otherwise, the caramel swirl, blueberry miso, coffee, cinnamon, peanut butter swirl, all delicious. You literally can't go wrong with Picco's ice cream. read more

If I could give more stars, I would. I've been a big fan of Picco's for a long time, since they opened in Boston. So when I found out they were opening a location out in the suburbs, I was more than excited. My husband and I decided to try it out this weekend. The location is beautiful, definitely such a great use of the space. Unfortunately we were both a bit overwhelmed and decided it would be best to change our order to take out. That was on us, we were very grateful that the staff was so accommodating and understanding. Of course the food was absolutely delightful . Overall pretty mediocre experience, mostly due to service. Felt like the restaurant was very understaffed despite it being half empty on a Monday night. We waited forever to order and ultimately it was the host who took our order, however then we never had refills of our waters or were checked in on and it was difficult to get our waitress to stop by so we could ask for the bill. From a food perspective, we did enjoy the corn chowder and the mac and cheese had a nice blend of cheeses for flavoring. Pizza was fine, a step up from most pizza chains probably but otherwise not too impressive. If anything, the food I would come back for is the ice cream. Scoops are pretty typically priced for the area and can be ordered at the counter for take out (pints also available). I tried the passionfruit and it had a nice flavor and texture. read more

I never write reviews. Truly never. But this pizza forced my hand. I noticed this place was the highest rated on the One Bite app and, by pure fate, it was about 300 feet from my hotel. No pilgrimage required. I ordered a small pepperoni with caramelized onions and... wow. Like, wow. I love food, but when people describe something as "fresh," I usually roll my eyes. I get it now. Every ingredient tasted top-tier. The crust had the perfect char, the sauce and cheese were balanced, and the toppings actually tasted like themselves. It was one of those rare slices that makes you pause mid-bite and smile like an idiot. Yes, it was around $20 -- but it's easily two meals for me, and worth every penny. It's been a long time since a piece of pizza genuinely made me happy. I showed up five minutes early on purpose because I wanted this thing hot and at peak perfection. It's fine, I'll show up, eat it cold, and order another one to go. I'd be happy if Picco was the only pizza I could eat for the rest of my life. The sauce is fragrant, fresh, and sweet. The crust is fluffy, moist, and crispy on the outsides. The cheese is ridiculously good. It doesn't get any better, seriously. One criticism is please pick up the damn phone. The waitress said that was fine, happy to move an umbrella so the table is shaded, all good. We settle down at a table the waitress pointed us to as good with the dog, and then the waitress sends the owner out to say they refuse to move the umbrellas so we're shaded. We leave. My friend and I visited here on a Friday night and it was a vibe! This place was completely packed with groups of all sizes, but lucky we were able to get seated immediately. Our waitress was very friendly/attentive but gave us time to look through the menu. I first decided to try their specialty sangria, which had fresh fruit and herbs mixed in. It was very tasty and refreshing and was the perfect start to the meal. We split some roasted broccoli, which were perfectly cooked with some lemon and green goddess dressing drizzled over top. Honestly, I could've eaten the entire plate of broccoli for dinner and left happy. However, we came here for the pizza and decided to do a half & half with traditional cheese and their mushroom, swiss chard, and fontina. The pizza had an incredible char to it, while also being slightly soft and floppy. It's a really delicious style of pizza - completely different from NY/NJ slices - but one of my favorites. I wasn't a big fan of their mushroom, swiss chard, and fontina slices since there was just a little too much going on texturally for me, but the cheese was absolutely perfect. I was a bit disappointed with how they cut the pizza (we ordered a large and it was cut into 6 very uneven slices) but we made the most of it. The brick oven style pie we ordered was absolutely terrific and I could not find a single thing wrong with it. The crust is so light yet chewy it reminded me of sourdough bread. Prior to that we started with an amazing salad that had mangos, peanuts and avocado with chili peppers.
