Aha! So that's why it's called Dirty Water Dough! Instead of using water, they use their very own IPA beer! I knew there was something just a little bit unusual about the crust! I do want to recognize it for having bolder flavors than your run-of-the-mill plain dough. Alas, good bread alone does not a good pizza make. I had the opportunity to try a slice of their Buffalo chicken. With everything together, the slice was just fine. Other than the cheese and chicken being a little bit far from the edge, I don't have any real criticisms. At the same time, I can't level any praise either, it was as average as average goes. Given their downtown location I feel that $5 for a slice is reasonable, and I also want to recognize the staff for being friendly. Also, bonus points for them having hot honey in addition to their regular parmesan, oregano, and pepper flakes. Hot honey on pizza is something that once you try it you'll have wondered how you lived without it. Final Verdict: Dirty Water Dough is a kind of place that works in a pinch, however, it is by no means a destination or something worth writing home or raving about. read more

The pizza is hot, crispy, and flavorful- a perfect, easy to eat meal that does a good job of warming you up during cold weather too. I tried the bbq chicken and the green monster. Both were good, but I would recommend the bbq chicken over the green monster due to how yummy the bbq sauce tastes. I love how the pizza dough is perfectly crispy and the crust is crunchy without there being too much crust. Inside has some seating available, including two small tables in the bay window that overlook the street. Service ranges from meh to super nice. The first time I came here, the employee at the front register was very welcoming and nice. The second time I came here, the front register employees seemed disinterested. Solid pizza place! We got a classic Margherita pizza and were not disappointed. The crust was very crispy - wish it was slightly more airy since it hardened fast, but otherwise it was delicious. Specifically, their home brewed dirty water IPA. We decided to get a small sausage pizza, which had onions, cheese, bell peppers, and jalapeños (we added). Took about 10-15 min to be ready. First impression: the cheese pull was very nice ! The pizza tasted very fresh and relatively healthy? Like, it didn't feel heavy which I liked. It was a little bland with the toppings but the extra seasonings we sprinkled on top helped a lot. We put a bunch of garlic powder and pepper flakes on all the slices. The dough was the star of the show for me. Parking/Location: it's situated on Newbury St on the block with Zara, Nike, and some boba tea shops. Parking can be tricky but it's not uncommon to find spots on Newbury St. Can also try Boylston St and the side streets for street parking. There are also lots and garages available. read more

First time popping in, they definitely had a lot of folks in and out and i can see why! Firstly, I'm told their pizza dough is made with their house brew dirty water IPA! The dough was good to the last bit, cooked to perfection. We got a small sausage pizza which has bell peppers, onions (white), sausage slices, mozzarella, and we added jalapeños! I must say the ingredients are as they come, would be nice for a more flavorful sausage spicy or Italian herb etc. or even sweet sausage. They do however have plenty of shakers -- crushed red peppers, black pepper, salt, garlic powder, oregano etc. I can see why they are busy! Great little pizza spot in Back Bay for a quick bite. I'm a fan of the thin crust and sweeter sauce that they offer on their pizzas. The meat lovers was absolutely packed with high quality meat toppings. The large pizza was more than enough to feed 5 people. I was so stuffed after 2 slices. The Greek salad was decent and a large was also enough for 4-5 people to eat. It's a bit tight inside with only 1 large table and 4-5 smaller tables so not great for groups. If I could give this 4.5 stars I would. Great location on Newbury, super friendly staff, and delicious pizza. They let you do a large half and half of any two flavors (unheard of these days!). Open late, have alcoholic beverages if desired, and sell some by the slice which is nice option to have! It's a thin crust pizza that holds up pretty good to the flop test and has a decent undercarriage, and the crust has a nice crunch. This was my second time visiting Dirty Water Dough, both times taking our pizza to-go which I would recommend. The interior is pretty chaotic and isn't the best dine-in experience, but being the location that it is, it makes it a very convenient takeout spot for a lot of people. My friend and I each ordered a small pie (which were about $15 each). Considering I got two decently sized meals out of this I would say it was worth it! We made the mistake of ordering in-person which took a decent amount of time and there wasn't anywhere comfortable to wait. But still, after getting our pizza, we head outside to enjoy it somewhere more scenic. I tried the Hawaiian pie which I really liked. The crust is very crispy here... definitely not NY-style, but it's still flavorful. None of the flavors overpowered each other, which I appreciated as well. I've been very curious about this spot and finally got the chance to visit. Their pizzas are $3 ($4 for all except cheese) which isn't too bad especially when you see how big they are and how filling one slice is. It's definitely a casual spot with not much seating but it seems to be fine considering how many pickup and to go orders I saw in just an hour. There is one person at the cashier who takes your order and she seemed helpful. Then, you'll spot in the back about 3-4 other people working on the pizzas. My favorite pizza is the BBQ Chicken one which just slaps for some reason. Now let me also point out I'm not crazy about pizza. I end up usually getting some with a group because it is the easiest and this occurs just a handful of times a year. The pizza was pretty good though the pizza makers on a mission to deliciousness. Though, nothing will beat $1 slices at any local pizza place in brooklyn. This boston style pizza has a thin crust which I think I prefer because you are not just tasting sauce but you can really taste the bread. One of my many favorite meals, snacks or treats, it takes many forms. I had just two slices and was feeling satisfied which was shocking for me. Like they really said you will leave feeling content. Then, I also had to try one of their drinks so I got one of their dirty water sodas flavored lemon rickey. It is mad sweet and I felt like a child again, just do yourself a favor and don't check the sugar content. The boxes for the large pizza are SO big. It was a bit longer than a lot of boston doors so I was struggling a little bit getting out. I had leftovers the next day and somehow the pizza tasted even better. I want to preface this review with the fact that I did not order from here myself - I attended an event that was catered by Dirty Water Dough. That being said, this is one of the better slices of pizza I've had in Boston, and I was able to try 3 different flavors at the event. The dough here is amazing - it's thin and crispy under the toppings, and just the right amount of crisp mixed with a slight chewiness in the crust. Not too chewy and not too crusty - just right. And the dough itself had a really nice flavor - like a fresh bread type of taste. The toppings were also fairly good: Chicken Alfredo - This was my favorite of the three type of pizza I tried. There was no tomato sauce, but instead there was a buttery alfredo sauce under the cheese instead. I personally would have liked a bit more of the alfredo taste, but it was still very good with the cheese, chicken, and broccoli on top. The crust (described above) mixed with this buttery sauce was a real treat - almost like a buttery garlic bread. BBQ Chicken - I normally like BBQ chicken pizza more than other flavors, but this one had a bit too much BBQ sauce on it. The chicken was great, and the cheese and dough was wonderful, but there were a few bites where the BBQ sauce was overwhelming. I did love that the crust piece I had was covered in a light drizzle of the BBQ sauce, and it tasted like candy with the chewy crunchy crust texture - still a win in my book! Pepperoni - This was probably the most normal of the three slices I had, but even then the size of the pepperoni was above average. If you look at the photo, 3 slices covered my entire slice, and the pepperoni itself had a nice and slightly spicy flavor to it. However, I wasn't too much of a fan of their marinara/pizza sauce - it didn't feel like it had too much depth to it. Still, a solid slice and the crust once again was a showstopper. All in all, the dough here is really really good. I'd definitely come back to try some other flavors, and I'd buy both the Chicken Alfredo and the BBQ Chicken slices again. 4/5 - delicious! read more
