Had a really nice dinner here last night visiting town on business. Business colleague and I found the place on yelp and gave it a shot. Have to agree with the good reviews. We split the appetizer sampler of hummus, bisara and muhamarra, all of which were excellent. I had lentil soup and he a salad. Soup was great. I has the tuna with romesco sauce. Was very good. For dessert I had the Kunefe. Never heard of it even before but I loved it. Very nice meal and attentive service too. read more

I had the most delicious linguine ever with scallops and shrimp, my husband had an eggplant dish with sauce and my brother in law had a sampler plate with hummus and baba ganoush! Yummy! Everything was delicious and the service was amazing! Thank you Jamie! It was my Birthday and we came back for dessert later that evening. Never a Bad meal here! Service is always friendly and professional. The Salads are all terrific, my two favorites are the spinach salad and the d'estate salad with perfectly cooked salmon on top. All of their hummus and dips are delicious and homemade, the pizzas are also homemade with frech dough for reach pie baker in their really hot coal oven. Great wine list too. Such amazing flavors! Entering this restaurant felt like entering a Mediterranean space. Service was so friendly and prompt. While we were disappointed that they had run out of stuffed grape leaves, we so thoroughly enjoyed muhammara as a shared appetizer. This Syrian dish is a flavorful blend of ground walnuts, roasted red peppers, and pomegranate molasses, served with flat bread and veggies for me to accommodate my gluten free needs. Our meals came with soup or salad and we both were happy with the vegan lentil soup. It came piping hot in a very generously sized bowl. Nicely seasoned, with diced vegetables, it was more than I could finish with a meal on the way. My husband ordered a Moroccan chicken special. His excitement over the flavors enticed me to take a taste of the broth. The sweet spices of cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, Spanish paprika, and nutmeg were well balanced by the cumin and coriander. Tender chicken was combined with prunes, raisins, and carrots, and served with Basmati rice. Oh my! Such amazing flavors! My meal was delicious, but with more mild flavors. Imam Bayildi is a vegan stuffed eggplant dish, beautifully presented with a bed of Basmati rice and filled with sautéed tomatoes, peppers, and onions. The mild tomato based "au jus" added delicate and delicious flavors. We were way too full to try any desserts. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about what was gluten free and vegetarian on the menu, and it was easy to select meals for my diet. I enthusiastically suggest giving this a try! read more

We stumbled upon this gem on a trip through Helena and are we ever glad we did! Outstanding good, made fresh on site daily. The focaccia bread ranks as the only time in ever actually enjoyed focaccia. Usually it's dry, crumbly, and flavorless. This was moist and chewy, perfect texture and flavor! All the appetizers were thoughtfully prepared and presented (we shared three). I had a question about my entree as I ordered which my server answered accurately, but the chef himself came out to make certain that I knew exactly what I was ordering, then came back later to see how I liked it. I used to come here a lot with my family, until we had a horrible service experience, and we were served moldy bread, and did not return for awhile. The good news is that the service was great when I returned this evening. Bad news is that the food is fairly underwhelming for the price. The menu is comprehensive but repetitive. It has not changed much over the years. Good beer and wine selection, nice local taps. I cannot have dairy, which I alerted our waiter of. He was helpful and did check with the kitchen. He told me that I could not have the foccaccia that comes with the dinners, but that I could pay more and get flat bread (why is it more? It is an even simpler version of bread than foccaccia...why not just sub it?). I declined. The house salad was honestly my favorite part of the meal. Fantastic and fresh with a zesty (not too), house made dressing. The dinner was good but very underwhelming. Beautiful shrimp on a kebob, but overcooked and tough (loved the fire grilled flavor, just in the fire too long), plain basmati rice, and sautéed veggies with zero seasoning...didn't even taste salted. No sauce, not even oil and vinegar. So kind of dry,bland, boring. Besides the shrimp nothing was done wrong, per say, but it just wasn't exciting or worth the price point. All of the kebob dinners have the same stuff too. Meat, rice, sautéed veggies. So it feels a little..like wedding food or something catered. Not special and Mediterranean and fun. As mentioned the service was good, friendly, attentive, and good with my allergy. It was a good dinner, just nothing special, and I feel like I could make the meal better at home. read more

Having traveled the entire United States and across the world, I've come to expect watered down ethnic food in the US. Ersunozer has done an incredible number with his establishment, in Montana no less. Great welcoming and peaceful environment, the food was as delicious and authentic Mediterranean as I've ever experienced. Wow I was def impressed with this place. The food was amazing. Awesome decor and setup. Very tasty and on point. We ordered the lamb kabobs and chicken lasagna and both were just fabulous! Yaloosh (the waiter-Sorry if I didnt spell it right) but he def made the experience a million times better. He really knows the menu. Very friendly and funny. Really enjoyed his help. We waited a half hour for someone to say a single word to us, after which we waited another half hour for our entree to arrive. The waitress who served us was clearly not the waitress to whom the section was assigned,and for that I am very grateful, as it was obvious that the dark haired waiter and the waitress with the orange and blue scarf had no intention of serving us, and they were clearly the people who should have. What's worse is that not only was the quality of our meals sub-par, the portions were very minuscule. The icing on the cake is that later that evening when new patrons were seated, not 5 minutes later their PROPER WAITRESS was taking their order. Unbelievable, will not be coming back. read more

This is an aesthetically attractive restaurant with kind, if a little overzealous service. The food was tasty enough, though the dining experience was odd (read: not super comfortable). The reason for this is that the entire restaurant, with its ample seating, was nearly empty at the early dinner hour that we arrived. Nonetheless, we were promptly seated at the closest table to the only other diners. Without the ambiant noise of a busy restaurant, the experience of hearing everything the couple beside us was saying, and of knowing that we too had zero privacy, was very uncomfortable. In retrospect, we could have/should have asked to be reseated. Our bad. The next set of people that arrived were seated adjacent to us. Very strange indeed. read more

I was visiting Helena on a business trip (beautiful town, by the way) and had this restaurant recommended to me by a local. Upon entering the restaurant I was surprised by the atmosphere which was decidedly stuffy Italian restaurant and not "street food" as most Greek and Mediterranean restaurants tend to be. Not necessarily a bad thing, but a fancy layout usually means high prices. And well, yeah, they're high. I ordered the Chicken Brochette which is a fancy term for chicken skewers served with rice, vegetables, and a humble house salad. Price was $18 which is at least $8 too much. "Upgrading" to a side Caesar salad is $1.75 while a Greek salad is a $2.75 up charge. Huh? I wonder if Helena residents realize that such a combination will typically cost you $10 or less in major cities with much higher costs of living? While the chicken kebab itself was flavorful and cooked well, the "basmati rice" upon which it was served was absolutely indistinguishable from basic steamed white rice served at a Chinese buffet. Simply unacceptable. The vegetables were a horrid pile of cooked-to-death, salty remnants of their former selves. Again, atrocious. Looking at other Yelp reviews I would have to agree with them that this restaurant has some major temperature control issues; the air was warm and thick. Matters were not helped much by my server who, with each approach to my table, brought with him an unpleasant breeze of body odor. All the waitresses and other waiters were noticeably sweating. Outside temperatures were hovering around 50 degrees on this day. While I was finishing my meal another local bellied up next to me at the bar and told me that she had recently moved to Helena and that "the food sucks in Helena". If a restaurant such as this one has garnered such high reviews then I'd have to say that I believe her. Not recommended based on the prices which are absurd and the food which is not even up to the quality you can get from food trucks or lunch joints spread all over the United States. read more

I am a California man of many years and I've traveled all over the western US states over the past 30 years and I had the pleasure of accidentally stumbling into this great little restaurant whereby I was very surprised to see multiple choices of fish on their menu (in the center of cattle and game country) and I ordered the sword fish and in 99% of the time all chef's will over cook this wonderful fish to the Point of being dry etc , not this time and probably the first time, it was cooked to perfection, very moist as in perfectly cooked and the service was highly professional with excellence. My husband & I have tried to give Mediterranean Grill several tries over the last few years. The overall atmosphere is a little odd and the seating not very comfortable. Plus it is always chilly inside, no matter what time of year is. Average service and lots of good ***sounding*** choices on the menu. However, my husband and I both end up feeling sick the day after we've eaten at Med Grill, without exception it seems. Not sure if it's just the mix of too many different spices and flavors in a given dish or sensitive stomachs, but it makes it difficult for us to frequent this establishment unfortunately. read more

Here on work. Yelped town and found this cafe for dinner. Cool inside with a beautiful brick oven center pieced by the bar top, bar stools and tables. So, my Greek salad (for 2.50 extra with an entree) was fresh but the dressing was too watery for a Greek. And, my chicken in tomato sauce with rice and veggies was, for the most part, cooked well. But, there was wayyyyyyyyy toooooooo much garlic. I love Garlic. But, there is a limit. And, I could tell it came from a jar. Fresh garlic would be a huge improvement. It's pretty to prep garlic. My veggies were over cooked too. Not mush. But, I would've liked a more vibrant side. They didn't seem to be utilizing the brick oven pizza except for bread and baking their lasagna. And, the bread they served me was ice cold. I asked the chef manning the oven to warm it up for me. Which, he was cool about. They could be a 3 or 4 star if they made several small improvements. read more

If there is one thing I've learned from Helena MT, food portions are often pretty large. This place was no exception. The Caprese could have served 6-8 people. I would say that 2 entire balls were cut and put on the plate along with generous amounts of basil and tomatoes. They really could charge the same amount, provide half as much and make more money! The veal saltimbocco also was very large. Though what was lacking was the prosciutto, it could have been a more salty variety. And the veggies were a bit lack luster. We were in for one night in Helena. We live way out in the provinces, without decent restaurants. So we wanted something good. We chose this place, and we were very pleased. The place was about empty when we rolled up, which concerned us, but we were greeted immediately. Initially our server seemed a little frustrated, perhaps lonely, but she warmed up quickly. We ordered a couple of glasses of wine, which were very nice. The wine list was extensive. The food was ordered and came quickly. It was quite tasty. My wife had veggie lasagna, and I had an eggplant dish. Both very nice. Served nice and hot good portion size. ' The decor of this place was spectacular. Very pretty. Pretentious, over priced, and really bad service. Worse is the decor, it's leftover from a failed Italian restaurant and is just awful. I am afraid to say that the positive part of the review is over, on to our brunch. To be fair we visited MG twice for Sunday brunch. I'll describe the second visit only, because the first was exactly like the second visit. Brunch, severely overpriced at $16.95, is really just a cold buffet with a few cold salads, a couple of humus dips, two meatless pizzas and a few desserts. I truly enjoyed the pizzas, unfortunately on both visits, the staff didn't refill the empty platters for over 20 minutes. The cold salads were over dressed, swimming in vinegar and garlic. The desserts were good and saved MG from even less stars. If they were prepared in house, kudos, I am guessing though that most came from one of Helena's many excellent bakeries. If I had to come back, at gun point only, I'd order a pizza. Then I'd b probably be mad at how over priced MG is for a pizza joint. read more

This place deserves an award. Honestly the best food you can get in Montana let alone some of the best Mediterranean food I have had outside the Mediterranean. Everything was spot on. Absolutely horrible. If you want pre-cooked food reheated, save yourself some money and go by the frozen section at your local grocery. My wife had the lasagna con pollo and I the rigatoni with bollagnase. Both came in a single serving ramekin, both reheated, and both equally unappetizing. Seeing that the Med Grill currently only had 3 1/2 stars and also that they had a fairly large menu I was slightly skeptical. We went there any way. Our main server, , was perfect. tentative and courteous. We started with the muhamarra appetizer. If you are a fan of hummus this is similar but much more flavorful. We reside on the California coast and for some reason each ordered a fish or sea food dish. Two Seafood Fettuccinis and a Tuna with Romesco Sauce. Personally, one of the best or better Seafood Fettuccini I've had. Clean, fresh and flavorful. House salad was also simple and fresh. Had a taste of the tuna with romesco. Yeah, excellent as well.
