This is our family's go-to place in Helena for a nice dinner. We've had the kabobs, pasta, pizza, and sandwiches - all wonderful. The falafel sandwich is awesome - very fresh falafel in a pita with veggies and sauce. The side salads are very nice as well. And if you are into caffeine, make sure you try the Turkish coffee. Yeah, the cup is little (and DON'T drink the last sip), but, oh, is it nice. And the buzz is terrific. I would agree with the comment on the environment - we've been either comfortable or cold, and one time very, very cold. But in the summer they have outdoor seating, which is terrific. read more

The food was awesome and the service was great. There are weird street lights indoors, mostly just being in the way, but overall the ambiance was really nice. You can order small plates or entrees. They have a huge wine list and a few beers. I would definitely go back. read more

Visiting Helena and this restaurant stood out. Upon arriving around 8PM, we were one of 4 tables. Cute ambiance and the patio was very nice. Our soup and salad ( salad was bunch mixed green with house dressing- no other toppings) took almost 25 min to come out. Bread was good but cold. Didn't bother to warm up. We then waited another 30 min for our entrees. I had veal, it was good but the vegetables were ice cold. My husband ordered lamb stew special and some Lima beans were very hard . Lamb was okay. Certainly was not worth the price. We then had to wait an extended period of time for our check. It was ridiculous. Only two other tables were being served. Check finally arrived and after another extended period we went inside to look for our waitress. Took another 8-10 min to finally settle our check. read more

I double checked my order several times (order veal and was served steak), pointed to it on the menu to avoid confusion, and still got the wrong food. We stumbled upon the Mediterranean Grill when were driving through Helena. It's a really cute place! The food was pretty good! We had the Rigatoni and Fettuccini Alfredo. We had a Turkish dish for desert. The desert, especially, was surprisingly good! The service was also good. The woman at the table behind us didn't like the lasagna( I kind of got felt like they were just trying to get a free meal), but he owner himself came and took care of it. He didn't charge them for the meal and seemed to really understand customer service. Our biggest complaint with the service was that they never refilled our water. The place was really cute. The interior is amazing! The painting on the inside and the architecture was amazing! I really appreciated that they made it feel like we were in Greece! read more

I'm so torn on whether to give this place a 1 or 2. Maybe 2 because the food was good and quirky fun waitress. However, when we made our decision on lunch we were told they were out of specials, of course I was a bit disappointed. The list didn't stop there though! She prefaced with, let's get the disappointment quickly over with.she read a list of things that ran out. About 5 things. So I ordered lentil soup and Egyptian chicken. Both were good, but took forever to come out. As I was eating I overheard another waitress add to the list of run out items. I counted about 9 or maybe 10. Then after the table placed their order, she came back out and added one more to the list. Naturally I was peeved that this place basically had no Mediterranean food on an already small menu. I've eaten here many times and the food and service is fantastic! So is the owner! Most recently I approached him about hosting our AmeriCorps end of term dinner and he graciously agreed. In addition, he developed a special menu for our team, complete with vegetarian, vegan and omnivore dishes. My favorite restaurant in Helena. A wonderful variety of Cuisine from the Mediterranean. I love the Egyptian chicken sandwich for lunch and salmon or shrimp for dinner. The soups are exquisite. OMG! This lace is honestly the best their lental soup is amazing they honestly deserve more stars. Their taste is amazing, and yea their may be complaints on the amount of seating or th portions of food, but you need to remember, this is based off of what this family owned resturaunt probably ate before they moved here. Their food is one of a kind and is hard to pass up. Even tho this is expensive, it is delicious. And even better their is a bakery next to them, so if you want a little coffee or a cookie, just go next door. This place tops every place I have ever ate at... Ever. Highly recommended! read more

Bland vegetables, steak was over cooked, we ordered medium, but it was well done and full of gristle, and the waitress was not attentive to us at all. I feel bad writing these type of reviews. I typically only write reviews when the food is delicious, however; this place was so bad I feel I should warn other fellow travelers. It wasn't just one thing that didn't taste good, it was then the second course AND the main. I realize I'm in Helena,MT and not NYC or SF but come on... babba ganoush... how do you mess that up? Or a simple Greek salad? It literally tasted like romaine with grocery store Italian dressing drenched on top. The chicken main dish was quite subpar as well. We had hopes for this place when we walked in and saw their brick oven, but then quickly noticed there were no flatbreads in the menu. I'm still curious what it's used for. Anyway, this place needs a proper chef and training. Save your money. read more

This place is so nice! The food was so good and the service was amazing! I came with my sister and we loved everything about it! I looks so pretty, we sat outside and they have such nice planters and the street isn't super busy. We shared a sandwich and a salad and they were both amazing. This is the best place to eat in Helena. We have been back every time we come and it is consistently wonderful. It is a real treat to even find Mediterranean food in Montana! A friend and I went here for their Sunday brunch. We had heard years back while in Helena that we needed to try it, how good it was, etc. Well, the service was good. The place was not busy for a brunch, we were there at 12:15pm. I had to ask three separate times for things to be filled that were being left empty on the "buffet" bar. I was not going to pay such a high price for just a little salad. They definitely need to step it up if they want to charge such a high price and keep things filled and fresh. May or may not try it again when in town but definitely letting everyone know that had suggested it, it is not what it use to be. Oh, and for the main dish, most of it is pasta, super cheap to make. Worst meal I have ever had. I had the mussel special and it was terrible. Weirdly sweet and there was almost no mussel. The shell was stuffed with rice which made it mushy and again the meal was weirdly sweet to the point where it was inedible. I've been to Mediterranean Grill several times recently. Usually for lunch, and I've been impressed by the food and the wait staff is always knowledgeable and helpful. My only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that often they're out of some things I order. Sometimes early in the week after the weekend they're out of a lot of things. My fiance and I just had lunch at "The Mediterranean Grill" after our typical Saturday morning of errands and shopping. I had the appetizer sampler (hummus, baba gahnnouj, and tapanade.... sorry about poor spelling), he had the Greek salad. While the potions were substantial, the fare was light and perfect for an afternoon out and about. The service was friendly and attentive. The wine list was a nice size and very reasonably as well. The med grill is classified as Greek but is definitely more Mediterranean with a lot of middle eastern fare, and a focus of Turkish and Lebanese food. Overall, we feel this will quickly become our favorite Helena lunch spot. read more

I was pretty disappointed with my experience here. The service was lacking, and we were there early when it wasn't busy at all. I had the paella for dinner, and it was easily the most bland paella I've ever eaten. My wife and I went here to get a quick lunch before seeing a show. We had a little over an hour to eat and make it over to the theater. We ordered the appetizer sampler and we each got a grilled chicken Caesar salad. The appetizer dip trio was really good, as well as our server, he was great, very friendly. Our salads on the other hand were NOT good. They had very little dressing or flavor to them. The chicken was dry and had a weird seasoning on it. The worst part of all was this lunch with only water to drink was $50! Outrageous in my opinion. They charged us $15 for the chicken on our salads in addition to the cost of the salad itself. My wife only got a half order of the salad but still paid the full price for the chicken. I'd also add that this was not a large amount of chicken for either plate. We had eaten here a couple times in past years, this time with a party of 7. There was a slight crowd, but no waiting around and we were seated right away outside. Took about 15 minutes to order drinks and not one of our group of 7 could understand a word our waiter said in his thick accent but it took another 10 min to get our drinks and order which was when the horror began. We did finally order and after a full hour and a second bottle of wine, our waiter informed us that our food would be served in FOUR minutes because of a new waiter but that he would be back shortly, but after another 25 - 30 min he came to tell us it would be another "few" minutes. We saw 2 couples leave who arrived before us and I kept racking my brain trying to figure out what made our meals take so long while my brother in-law had to wait almost 30 minutes to get a simple diet coke. After another 10 - 15 minutes, our food finally came, which was almost all steaks, 2 of which were totally raw, and it took another 10 - 15 minutes to cook. I had ordered the fillet medallions and roasted red potatoes, but instead got an over-cooked single fillet and cubed home fries which were also horribly overcooked. Not a SINGLE of our group of seven actually received what we ordered and after 2 and a half hours, didn't even get a cut in price despite a couple complaints, though they threw in one of the bottles of wine. We swore never to return and as we were leaving my nephew in the restroom overheard the cooks (who had taken several smoking breaks on the patio while we waited) squawking about how "rude" we were just to ask for an update on when our food would finally be delivered. I've had better Mediterranean food out of food stands at our local fairgrounds for about a quarter the price and was very disappointed to have never been given a single apology. So if you're in Helena, your best bet is to stay far away. The only excuse for the long wait was 'a new cook', but there was no excuse for the awful service. read more
