Customer service is very condescending and rude. They will talk down to you like your an idiot. The software is ok for small business accounting but is very limiting as it is not able to be used in a network or muliple device environment. And when you do figure out how they scold you and shut your access off. Even though their web page does not say its prohibited to put it on more than one computer, even the same users laptop, it says should not because it's not supported. I've used the software off and on for over 20 years with different clients. I have mixed feelings about it. It's inexpensive and accurate. That's the best part. Increasingly though it's becoming a nightmare to use with all the interruptions. I got a call today from one of my clients telling me he was going to ditch it for QB payroll because apparently it now displays messages when you start the program and you have to read notices immediately. I actually made a yelp account to review Medlin. Product is fine, but customer service is terrible, arrogant, and unhelpful. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere. Simple questions are treated with distain, defensiveness, and a lack of professionalism. Save yourself some time and money, small-business-owners with 1-5 employees! This software might've been decent enough in, like...1985. Nowadays, it's totally DEFUNCT, single-PC-specific GARBAGE. Not only is it slow, crash-prone, and can't even generate ACCURATE reports, it doesn't even offer the benefit of online back-up. I've had to pay a PHR to manually generate my employees' 2022 W-2's, TWICE. Customer service is ignorant, rude and condescending, and can't even manage to send an e-mail blast that isn't riddled with pathetic grammar errors. You could use an adding machine or an abacus and get more efficient results than you will with Medlin -- and for half the annual price, you can run accurate, online-backed-up payroll via Quickbooks. These people are a laughable joke and deserve to go out of business. Don't know why my pic isn't up. The software is great! One Friday afternoon while doing payroll, I had a problem. The moron at their support dept. would only email, and his responses were like he was stoned. I begged him to call me as I had to get checks ready, after 3 hours of his useless answers. I just had to guesstimate the checks. I was so mad that I was seriously thinking of finding out where the owner lived to complain in person. Luckily, I finally figured it out. Agree with Laurie C. I did get upset in an email to them as an update to their system wouldn't allow me to finish out payroll and some other things. Argued with me like I was an idiot and a liar. After explaining I've been sick and miserable and then all of this happens received an email stating that that is not an excuse for lying and swearing. The only swear word used was "bullshit." Being the fool that I am I renewed my software. Today the refunded me back because of my behavior! Who does this? Had issues a few years back with them too and they basically called me stupid. Been using the payroll software for a few years. It is straight forward, no frills, get the job done software. Had to work through an issue requiring me to inquire with their customer support which happened to be the owner/software developer. The experience was terrible. He was not supportive nor helpful in working through the issue. I basically had to suggest and hypothesize solutions pulling information out of him. I have been using Medlin Accounting Software for 5 years as a backup Payroll Software. Last year Medlin send out invitation for suggestion to improve their software, and I have asked for network version, and we are willing to pay for the network version, which convenient for user if we want to access the same company file on different computer via internal network, remote desktop, etc... and they have rejected this idea. They starting to put annoying messages when we try to put the company file on the server, or access the program from there. It's a matter of C:/ and T:/ drive, but they are not happy about it. The message last until now, and they have aggressively put more messages and popup web browsers for "warning", enough is enough, I email them and tell them that we will stop update or buying any new version for this day onward, the biggest concern is they collect our information and send out to their server without our concern or knowledge, this is a biggest security issue threat that we will stop using Medlin. We have to use firewall to block Medlin Software send in and out information, and that is a time consuming task, we also have to blocked Medlin from the root of our Windows to prevent it accessing Medlin Server in the future. It's a scary situation when the software provider send out information without customer consent. The cheap price of Medlin Software can not substitute for the information collected from customer's computers. If you want a replacement of Medlin, you can always try CFS Tax Software at https://www.taxtools.com/, the software which we has used over 20 years with trust. Beside the security and unsupported reasons, Medlin is easy and simple to use; if you want a software to use at home with no concern about security or the information may be sent out to their server, then you can buy and use it. For us, the cheap price can not be justify for loosing valuable data, today the software collect our computer's information, tomorrow it may collect our clients' information, who knows what they want from the collected information.... read more

I am using legacy software until I can get things in order. We have had to call their support a couple of times, instead of helping their standard replies are as short as humanly possible and with as little explanation as they can muster. We recently upgraded to the 2019 Payroll Professional version. We have been using this software since 2014; have had issues with their customer service every year; this year (2019) took the cake. Upon installation of the 2019 version, the previous paid versions were inaccessible due to their software glinches. We called and called, emailed, text messaged and all we got was we can't help you, it's impossible for us to call you at this time of the year; yet it's very possible for them to accept your payment at this time of the year. They answer your questions in such a rude manner as if they are not dealing with industry professionals. They won't even hear them out or even try to help you, instead they emailed us comparing our problem to a garage door opener. Medlin software support refused to call me after multiple requests or work with me to assist one of our CPAs. I and the employee I am assisting have called in and left voicemails and were told by an automated message to email their support. The signature or email address for the person handling their email support does not list the person's name. The person was rude and short in the email conversation, cannot recommend their product due to poor customer service. read more

His fix to the problem was to deactivate the software only because we recommended as a customer some improvement to his software which is good. My wife and I had been using Medlin Payroll service over 3 years. The software is good and simply to use. However the customer service from the owner is terrible. The rate was rased for the 2016 year and the new rates were not clearly displayed on the order form. We tried to resolve the matter with the owner who is too stubborn to admit an error. I have used Medlin Accounting Software for over 20 years and was quite satisfied with both the product and the beyond great customer support from Jerry Medlin. I recently purchased updated versions after being reassured all the features would still be there and they had only made improvements to their products. Other than the PDF and multi year save features, the program is full of glitches and lost, important features. Customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. Jerry is not at the helm anymore. The rep would not divulge his name when asked "because we've had threats." Paranoid, arrogant and incompetent customer support I think from a guy named Dennis. Their 'upgrade' is going to cost me thousands in labor to repair and go to another program. It would be an easy fix if he was a competent programmer and could scoot his ego aside to fix the matters. Instead, he tells me such nonsense as "No one uses dates on their statements anymore." Yeah, Dennis. Tell that to AT & T, The Gas Company, Chase, Wells Fargo and every one else.
