5 stars for the doctor, 1 (0 really) for MedStar. Our child is a patient of Dr. Serrano and I was very happy with our last appointment. Dr. Serrano is so sharp, empirical, and eager to find a diagnosis and solution. We've also had very good interactions with her NP and her staff. Would absolutely recommend her. However, MedStar keeps cannibalizing medical practices in the DMV and it's not been for the better. Scheduling is centralized and reaching someone to schedule a basic, reasonable appointment for an existing patient through central scheduling is mission impossible. It's awful. It's a testament to Dr. Serrano that we haven't sought out another practice because dealing with Medstar is the worst. read more

I've never had worse service at a doctor than I had here. Not only do all exams take twice as long since they have a learning doctor do it first before bringing in the real doctor. But, getting DC school forms, which should be straightforward took over 6 weeks, with 10 calls to confirm that it was done. Once I went to pick it up (after being told it was done), only one of my kids had it filled out. (I had confirmed on the phone the day before that both were filled out.) This is super concerning as it seems that they lost my kids medical records multiple times. They also did not test my daughter for Lyme when she was really sick even though I had asked her to. She ended up having to go to the emergency room a week later because her Lyme had gotten so bad that she couldn't walk. This could have been prevented if they had just run a simple.blood test that we requested 5 times. Please do not go here. read more

We were seen by a Cardiologist; Dr. Robin Doroshow. Her main practice is located at Children's hospital, however, Georgetown is a satellite second office for her. Very old for todays kids and barely can relate to questions asked. She continued asking personal questions (that didn't relate to the patient's concerns at all) as she examined my daughter and it proceeded to a point where I had to ask her to stop. She then told me, I have a "right" to my privacy (as if this wasn't common knowledge, and why ask invasive questions?) I redirect the focus onto the patient (my daughter) to solve the problem she's having. She made us feel as though we were being judged. Need to heavily improve on conversational manners, also. She told my daughter maybe she has an issue concerning her Acid Reflux and keep a bottle of Maalox handy. That was not the problem, probably the most helpful thing she said during the visit. However, her analogy to a 14- year old was, "gulp caps down like alcohol." The woman irritated us and conversed with us in a patronizing manner. Her choice of words were very outdated. Truly awful service. Spent an hour on the phone trying to get access to the patient portal, was transferred to multiple different departments and no one was able to help me. This has been my experience every time I've tried to reach them about something. Would not recommend. read more

Facility is nice, but other than Dr. Ingard, and the MA we had, we are not impressed with the staff. We usually see Dr. Ingard down at the Leonardtown office, but recently relocated closer to DC, so decided to come up to Tenleytown. In the future, we will make the drive to Leonardtown instead. We saw a different doctor, Dr. T, and while she was nice, she was extremely slow, which is not how you want a one-year well baby appointment to be. Our daughter was already not thrilled to be at the doctor, but all the waiting made her worse than ever. We spent nearly an hour and a half in the exam room, but did not have any extenuating discussions or anything beyond the regular vaccines for 12-months. The MA who took her measurements was great. He was nice and quick and our daughter enjoyed him. But the office staff, doctor and the lab worker were not ones we would want to see again. The admin actually cancelled our appointment without my approval because we had this appointment and one in leonardtown scheduled. She did call to confirm, but when I tried calling back, nobody answered. I did reply a confirmation to the text I received a few days prior, so I do not think she should have cancelled. The doctor was extremely slow, which was agitating for my husband, daughter and myself. Then we were sent to do blood work to Che I for lead and anemia, but the phlebotomist poked her, clearly missed the vein, but kept trying to get blood for at least three minutes from an angry and confused toddler. I'm no medical professional, but I was an EMT about 10 years ago, and it was obvious from the beginning that a vein wasn't hit, so my husband finally walked out with our daughter and said we will be going to Leonardtown again because of the lack of professionalism showed at the DC Georgetown MedStar Pediatrics office. read more

Terrible at getting back to patients for sickness appointments. I couldn't even get them to give me a doctor's note for my kids school. No joke...7 phone calls and 3 emails. Nothing. I had to physically go in to the office to demand it. Every appt with the doctor is 2 hours long bc they are in residency and need to clear every step with acting head doctor. read more

This hospital does not keep confidentiality despite promising it, and keeps you waiting for hours.

We took our son here for his one-week checkup, hoping to lock down a pediatrician for the long term. However, it quickly became abundantly clear this is NOT the place we want to spend our next eighteen years. This was an especially bad experience, by any measure: rude, incompetent staff (from front desk to intake), dirty office, long wait times, terribly designed parking lot. While the intern and doctor seemed competent (and we momentarily suspended our doubts thinking "well if the doctors are good, that's all that matters), the exam took twice as long as would be standard (as other reviewers have noted) do to the redundancy of having both do the same work and tests. (To be clear, we're not opposed to a training institute; however, it needs to be more carefully planned out so as not to waste time and add duplicity). We left angry, cranky, and feeling we'd wasted our time. We have a number of choices and will not be going back. read more

Save yourself hours of wasted time and immense headaches and choose a different practice. Their admin has been horrible from the day we started there to over a year later. They have canceled our appointments without telling us, it took them 6 weeks to get a copy of my children's vaccination record for their daycare and it happened to just be sitting up at the front the whole time. The people at the front or on the phone are just unbelievably rude and have no desire to help. We have switched doctors and it's amazing how efficient our new place is. The nurse the other day said she had to call Medstar for our boys' records and was surprised at how rude they were when she realized Medstar missed up the dates of the vaccinations. I felt validated that even medical professionals are treated so poorly. Seriously, we as parents have enough to worry about, find ANYWHERE else. read more

Medstar Georgetown Pediatrics is simply wonderful. Friendly staff, super helpful, and contrary to other reviews I've read, runs pretty well on time. We were referred to a pediatric gastroenterologist at this practice for our eight-month old. Our appointment time was 9am. We were roomed at 8:50am and the doc came in minutes later. We saw Dr. Hong, and she was fantastic. Engaging, friendly, knowledgeable, and wonderful with our son. We're so happy we were referred here. read more

So much more than expected. Visited three times so far for our soon to be one year old. The appt system is easy and user friendly. The front desk ladies were courteous and helpful. The waits were less than 15 minutes every time. The lady doctors were also very helpful, and our baby took a liking to them immediately. The best surprise was the front desk lady. We recently switched childcare, and required a second medical form for Maryland from the hospital. The lady saw that we had one on file, and had another doctor just sign off on the two weeks old form, and saved us the additional fee. Very rarely do I run into people who think for your best interest, and Georgetown did. Thank you! read more

Georgetown pediatrics is putting children at risk! I called to schedule a nurse's apointment for flu shot for my children and their first available was dec 2015. When I pointed out that would expose my children to the flu for greater than 1/2 the season they said that it was staffing issues. They noted that last year they had flu clinics and flu appointments on SatS but are not doing this year. It is very disturbing that georgetown can not plan such a little thing that has the potential to save lives and stop potential illness for our children. When I asked if there was an immunization clinic at the hospital we could go to they said no and had no other suggestions within their system despite the fact we are enrolled in their clinic. I then asked to speak with the medical director and was placed on hold for 10 minutes and then hung up on. read more

If you are looking for a caring practice for your little one, then look no further. Yes, it is a teaching hospital. Yes, if you schedule during a prime time (think school year start) - you will wait. My old favorite schedule time was 10-11am on a Thursday. Yes, being a new parent is difficult enough - now you want my precious baby angel to get shots! My daughter has received care at MedStar Georgetown Pediatrics since birth (she's 11 now) and let me tell you, the care is excellent. This practice is holistic and they provide care in a way that doesn't frighten little ones. Even as a 5 year old, my daughter enjoyed meeting the "practice" doctor and the "regular" doctor. As we transition to the teen years, the doctors answer awkward questions in a straightforward caring manner. For those that said they have been waiting on the phone - stop waiting on the phone - leave a message and the nurse will call you back normally within 15 minutes or e-visit on the MedStar app. read more

The treatment and wait at Georgetown Pediatrics are terrible and getting worse. It is not uncommon to be put in a room with your baby and wait 40 min behind a closed door for anyone to come and see you, have 5 min of a resident's time, wait another 30 min for the resident to come back with a typed summary of the visit and to tell you to keep waiting for a nurse. At this point, if you are lucky, after 15-20 min a nurse will come back, give the baby a vaccine and you will go out. If you are not as lucky, you will be checking with the front desk and various nurses in the hallway for another 30 min to find out that you were either forgotten or put in the wrong room. Not to speak about fairness and equity of giving out Saturday appointments if your child has a serious infection and needs to be seen on Sat. If you follow the rules, call right at 8am, and wait for a call-back for an appointment you will never get it. You need to call every 5 min, insist on being given a time, or even better - show up un-announced to be taken seriously. It makes you wonder what the other parents did, who were given appointments before you. I used to think this is a one-time occurrence, a particularly busy day, etc. Now every single visit means so much stress that it is not worth it. We are looking for a new Pediatrician. read more

I've been taking my 21 month old to this practice since he was 6 weeks old. I would say that we have visited this practice around 20 times over the course of these last 2 years. From the moment we arrived to this practice the 1st time, we have been treated respectfully and diligently. My son's doctor (Dr. Nelson) is very dedicated and committed to my son's health. He never rushes us, he spends all the time needed to check my son, to talk to us and to answer all our questions. And for the record, I am a typical first-time mom with lots of questions about everything. He is extremely patient with me, very reassuring and sound in his advice. No matter when or how often I contact him, he always comes back to me with a timely and accurate answer. The other doctors and residents that some other times have seen my son, they all have also been good and with very good manners. The nurses are kind and have lot of patience with my son, who by the way, is very talented to scream as soon as he is taken to the room to be checked. He makes a huge fuss yet both, nurses and Dr. Nelson are very patient and friendly with him. Now, regarding the wait. Yes, sometimes there is a wait but about that, I have 2 points to make: a) they have never made us wait any more than what I normally have to wait with other doctors; in fact, ever since I arrived to this country 10 years ago, with the exception of one or 2 doctors, I have always had to wait a long time, in most cases, much longer than the average at Georgetown Pediatrics; b) in any case, the wait situation has improved a lot as time has gone by, in fact, the last couple of times we've been there, we have waited less than 10 minutes from the time we arrived. So I think they know this was a problem and I think they are taking measures to make things better. All in all, I am happy with the service provided in this practice and I would not take my son anywhere else. read more

The only reason we're with this practice is because of the doctors. Specifically the pediatric development clinic. Medstar is driving this hospital into the ground. Horrible waits, rude front desk, improper billing, the works. Once my children are old enough to be discharged from the clinic we are FLEEING this hospital and this practice. I would want to give this place a 0 star but this is not an option, just like dealing with the service and staffs. There is always a long wait, for phone calls, appointments, as well as rooms and doctors. For a wellness check up we stayed more than 3 hours for the student, then a physician and then the real qualify doctor to come see my little one. What made me really come here to rate them is 3 days ago I walked in to get my son's physical wellness form to be filled for his school, I paid rush fee for 24 to 48 hours service. I was promised to be called to pick up the form. 3 days later I was not called, so I called back and have a guy Derick answer, and while I was on the phone he made completed unrelated conversation with his colleague or patient parents, and put me on hold for 17 minutes to look for the form, which he never came back to me and have another lady pick me back up. From then I was promised a callback in 5 minute cause they can't locate my form. I waited 20 more minutes and no call back, I called again and got picked up and hung up right the way. I waited 10 more minutes To call again Derick picked up again and explain to me that my form was no where to be found, and the person handling it was not in yet. He explained that he doesn't know why I was not called because the form was filled the same day I turned in and no one was care enough to call me. He had me wait for the person to come Into work at 10am and it is 10:30 I have not heard back. It is my last time here with them and I hope all of you, if you have a choice, don't pick this place. So, I don't know where to start, how to rate and what to write. In fact while writing this I feel very very disrespectful to myself wasting my time for this place and people. Medstar should and must consider of changing George Town Pediatrics, this place should be careful with their way of conducting their "health" service to kids. I mean nobody legally or illegally has given them the right of wasting people's time and nerves. We had appointment for our 4 yrs old doughter and had our 1.5 months old boy with us, we got there at around 1 pm that is when the time for the appointment was, the nurse called us in at about 1:20 and I decided to stay in waiting lounge and take care of the little one while my wife takes care of the girl's check up. Well at around 3pm the boy woke up and started crying for his food and I had to call my wife to help and while she was back I asked her if everything is ok and she said the doc has not arrived yet (1 hour 40 minutes), what the hell!!!! But she said the doc should be there shortly, another 40 mins and I a kind of lost it there went in and asked the receptions where they were and they gave me the room number and I got there with the little one and found out that there are two residents asking questions. And this was just for a regular check up nothing more, and after all these questions and haha hihi they said everything was ok and we needed to wait for her eye and hearing test, well I asked how long they said promptly. Waited another 20 mins and could not do any more, sent my wife for checking if they are coming and apparently my wife was very mad at them at the reception and she came back with the doc who was supposed to see my doughter originally, she came and tried to apologize this and that but I was not there yet and I was super angry her and she saw it but it was too late, she as a doctor should be ashamed of herself for such a service and . They stole 4 hours of our day, and this is not it...!! I will make sure to take this to the attention of the gov officials in the department of health, this is a health organization not a torture center , nobody has the right of wasting people's time.... read more

I've been taking my twins to Georgetown Pediatrics since they were two-weeks old. They're 12 now and I honestly couldn't imagine taking them anywhere else. The care they receive is thoughtful, thorough and compassionate. Yes, it's true that sometimes there is a wait, tell me somewhere that DOESN'T. But when the girls and I are in the exam room, with their very dedicated pediatrician (Dr. Maria Marquez), I feel as though we're the only ones in the whole place. She speaks TO them, not about them through me. She makes them feel at ease while stealthily probing about puberty changes, family and nutrition. She treats my daughters with respect and kindness. To find that kind of health care in a large system is RARE, and definitely worth the rare delay. read more

Gtown pediatrics is horrible!!! I have been taking my daughter there for years, and have always dreaded the long waits, the apathetic and sometimes rude front desk. And then I rarely get to see a doctor, usually it is a resident, maybe the doctor pops in for a minute or two. Thank goodness with my younger daughter I started with a different pediatrician, Capital Area Pediatrics, they are wonderful. I literally walk right into my appointment, I see the same doctor every time, and feel like the staff actually cares about my child. Ughhh on Georgetown pediatrics, you will spend at least an hour (i am not exaggerating) for a couple minutes with a newbie doctor/resident. It will drive you crazy. Today was my last appointment with them, I am so fed up with the front desk. I was ignored, then told that there was no wait, but still was left to wait 35 minutes to go into the exam room. And I arrived early for my appointment. On the plus side, the nurses have always been so nice! read more
