Sad to give a review like this, but all of the staff and Veterinarian I encountered were professional and thoughtful. Truly emotionally engaged, yet knowledgeable and not candy-coating the truth about my little girl's situation. Serious, and informative. Dr. Jeff Smith really set the scenario, and I knew it was bleak. He made it a lot easier to make that final decision. 0/5 stars - if you feel like your pet needs urgent medical care, MedVet may turn you away without any examination or medical history check; if you absolutely need to go there and there's no other option, it's probably in your best interest to call them first to see if the reception staff deem your pet's urgent medical issue as "life-threatening" enough to warrant them even being willing to entertain the idea of allowing a vet to see your pet. ~~~~ TL;DR: I tried to take my severely immunocompromised cat to have a just-ruptured, infected abscess looked at and start him on some preliminary antibiotics until I could get him to our normal vet, but was pushed away by the reception staff and told that this was not serious enough for them to even take a look at, without even being able to explain his history of contracting infections from otherwise non-severe medical issues. ~~~~ I have 4 FeLV+ cats, and I am always very cognizant of the medical issues that they have and am knowledgeable enough as a medical laboratory scientist to understand when they are emergently sick or not. I typically take them to another vet that takes very, very good care of them, and recommends MedVet for emergencies. This morning one of my kitties had a sudden anal gland rupture with lots of purulent discharge and blood; he also suddenly became extremely lethargic and began throwing up. I took him straight to MedVet to get him looked at and at least get him on some antibiotics until I could get him into my normal vet. He also has a history of FIP and so his little immune system is very, very weak. I brought him in at 6am and was basically pushed away. The vet tech at reception didn't even take a look at him, and immediately dismissed me saying that they we're only taking life-threatening emergencies at that time. She didn't even give me time to explain his past medical history and why an issue such as this could cause him to become very sick; in the past he's had simple ear infections that I didn't bother to bring him to the vet about turn into full respiratory infections. She instead gave me a paper with alternate vet phone numbers, but each one I tried kept recommending that I go back to MedVet. I completely understand the reasoning behind only taking life-threatening emergencies on the weekends and holidays, but I felt very blown off when I tried to explain his history and why an issue like this could be life-threatening. In hindsight, I do realize that I should've called first, and that's on me. My cats to me are as important as children and I would've been willing to spend hundreds of dollars to just get him checked out. All I wanted was just to be listened to and to not feel like I'm a crazy lady who took her cat to a vet for a small cut. My only other experience with MedVet did result in one of my cats needing to be put down, so maybe I'm biased about my feelings regarding their care; it's not their fault that he got so sick like he did, but I do associate his death with their facility. I just want pet owners to know that it would probably be beneficial to call before going over and to expect them to decline you on weekends and holidays unless your pet is in extremely critical condition. I'm positive that their tech staff and vets are very competent, I just wasn't able to get that far to be able to interact with any of them. read more

I'm just so angry. We had an appointment here with one of the specialists and our dog was on medication. She adversely reacted to the medication she was given on Wednesday- constant vomiting. The specialist has kept in good contact via email and basically we know we are waiting on a test to come back. My beef is with their emergency team. Friday night at 10:30 we go in because she just vomited everything out of her stomach again and this is the end of the second day of vomiting. She is shaking and I'm worried super dehydrated and malnourished- not great for a dog on immunosuppressants fighting an infection. Well they put us in a room to wait and no one talks to us. We decide to leave at 1:30 because our dog was asleep and seemed to be doing fine. The next day she actually kept food down until 3ish, but then pukes and there IS BLOOD in the vomit. Well here we go back to Medvet. They check her vitals and say she is fine then tell us to just wait a little till a doctor is available. Our dog pukes while we are there, still some blood in it. FINALLY we go up to them at 9 and they FORGOT ABOUT US. They tell us to go home and wait for a call to come back. It is now noon the next day and no call. If you are worried about your animal's health- especially based on something that occurred at their facility- this is not the place to go. read more

Medvet of Cincinnati has the worst communication with absolutely no accountability. We've spent over $11,000 over the last 3 years for our dog. This past January she had another TPOL surgery on her back right leg. It ended up getting infected because of their incompetence of not putting our dog on antibiotics until 4 days after we brought her in to get checked because it was red, leaking and she wouldn't walk on it. Their resident nurse told us it was normal and not to worry about it. 4 days later the doctor put her on antibiotics right away and told us she would most likely need to have it removed. Well we did, we dropped her off yesterday (3/29/24) to have them remove the plate out of her right leg. We go to pick her up and notice she has incisions on both back legs. They ended up removing a plate out of her left leg that was operated on over 3 years ago without telling us. Asking us or even mentioning it during any of our conversations. They left stitches in after her surgery that caused leaking and another infection. Needless to say we will never and I mean ever take our dog back there and will make sure none of our friends do the same. read more

I have to say, the staff was very nice and prompt. My dog was not feeling well and I only went to MedVet because I was under the impression that the Care Center was not taking emergencies (which I was wrong). MedVet quickly evaluated him and informed me that he had bleeding in his abdomen and the options that it could be. Dr. Kruegl promptly called me and said they wanted to run blood work. Luckily, my daughter is an Emergency Vet in another State so I had her to guide me along. Dr. Kruegl called me later and I got my daughter on the phone with us. Dr. Kruegl immediately started telling us that Quigley had a hemoabdomen and I knew from my daughter that it wasn't good. She talked so fast about what it could be, the numbers from the blood work and how a surgeon had already evaluated him and that he should go to surgery in the morning after an ultrasound. She said she performed an ultrasound but didn't see a mass. This went on for at least five minutes and my daughter kept trying to ask questions but Dr. Kruegl just kept talking over her and not allowing us to ask questions. She was pretty adamant about going to surgery but did not provide any other options such as euthanasia or medical options and she didn't provide me with a quote. My daughter stated that it was about a $6,000 surgery with no guarantee that he would be ok and Dr. Kruegl agreed that was the case. We told her that we were going to decide what to do and that we may transfer him to the Care Center in Cincinnati. When my daughter and I talked off line, she gave me the options that I could do. She suggested that I have him transferred to the Care Center and have him evaluated in the morning by a specialist. She said that it probably was cancer and if that were the case, I should euthanize because surgery wouldn't give him any quality of life and we would lose him anyway. She also said that ultrasound may find something other than cancer which may be operable. She also stated that just euthanizing was also a good option. I really wish that Dr. Kruegl would have slowed down and given me those options also and discussed the situation with us instead of just spewing that we needed to go to surgery. I can only think about all of the other, unknowing, patients that she has done this to. I went and picked him up and took him to the Care Center. MedVet had not given him any pain meds at all and he was very painful. Within 15 minutes the doctor at the Care Center found a grapefruit sized mass on his liver that was bleeding into his abdomen (he only weighs about 35 lbs). Surgery was not an option. I realize that the vet offices are overwhelmed right now and short staffed but I am so glad that I had my daughter to guide me and the Care Center to turn to while she is out of state. I just feel like MedVet wanted to go straight to surgery and offered no other options. I feel sorry for anyone who has to go into this blindly because my dog would have been subjected to an expensive surgery with no chance of recovery. The Care Center provided a very caring, wonderful atmosphere for us to say goodbye to Quigley. MedVet, not so much. read more

They allowed us to park and someone arrived in minutes to get our cat, Lucky. He was not feeling well for a couple of weeks and he whined and that's when I knew I had to bring him in. This place was great! They kept me updated all night, he stayed another day, got some procedures done (which yes was a lot for me but I took him to an ER which I expected to be a bit above the norm). The internal medicine staff called me multiple times and we have a follow up set up and he is doing much better. Great experience. read more

We waited 3 hours for them to say that they could fix my cat for around 4,000 which I was willing to pay. But they insisted that we put him down or take him home they didn't give my poor baby pain meds or recommendations to go anywhere eles and he was suffering in pain and passed 3 days later. I was gonna pay them up front but the charged me 300 just to get my cat back so I'll never bring a pet of mine here again. I would give them a zero, however that's not a choice. I live an hour away from Medvet, I called to see if my sick dog could be seen today; 03/16/22 and was told "Yes". In fact I was told that he needs to be seen related to his symptoms. I could of took him to another vet for a walk in however I would if had to be there between 8-10. After I arrived at Medvet- a tech checked his vitals then told me the doctors were busy today and I would need to return tomorrow. REALLY!!! I thought MedVet was a place to take your dog for an emergency. And the fact of the matter is people work! I've got my dog to another Vet hospital which im Waiting to see what's going on with him. I never leave reviews, so doing this is saying enough. I came in overnight around 2 AM and it was me, my dog, a few patients sitting in the lobby and only a young woman at the desk. I was already upset because my dog broke into a seizure and he had never had one before, so I was frightened. I never gave the girl at the desk any sort of trouble and I received nothing coldness even though I was crying. I asked for a tissue as she was checking me in, huffing and puffing as if it was the last thing she wanted to do. She pointed across the desk at the empty seats and there was a box of tissues but I could not reach it. I asked her if she could grab them for me since the tissues were quite literally on the other side of the desk. The girl said "I don't get paid enough for this" and laughed out loud. She walked over, grabbed the tissues and slammed them onto the counter in front of my face. I grabbed my dog and said I wanted to receive friendly hospitality somewhere else. The young woman looked me in the eye and said "I'm sure other places will be happy to help you ma'am!" With a big sarcastic smile. I caught her name and it was Rhyan. I hear nothing but great things about this hospital but unfortunately my first experience was awful and I will not be returning. read more

Brought my dog here because the left side of her face was drooping and she was drooling a lot. Long wait since it wasn't an extreme emergency. But nobody checked up on me in the waiting room. Once I was in the exam room, the visit was less than 15 minutes. I had an answer from the vet, and she repeatedly told me the same thing. Guess she wanted to make sure I understood what was happening with my dog. Waited another 15 plus minutes to be checked out. Good place for a true emergency and they took care of my girl. But expect to do a LOT of waiting if your pet isn't visibly in pain or hurting. read more

I brought my cat in because it was struggling to urinate for a few hours, they immediately took him back then brought us to a room and told us they thought he had a suspicious mass/cancer but couldn't be certain and recommended we hospitalize him for a few days and place a catheter and fluids. But said that could be pointless because the mass... then said he could have stones or crystals requiring surgery. Very unclear. We decided to do a temporary catheter to releive his bladder for the time being and an xray to look for stones or better look at "the mass". 700$ later no stones and still unsure about the mass we took him home not knowing what was going on. We brought him to our normal vet and did bloodwork to find out all he had was A UTI. A UTI. Why would they traumatize us and say he could have incurable cancer or have a 5,000$ hospital stay only for it to be 20$ medicine for 5 days. They are so money hungry. I'm so upset and sick they put us through that for absolutely nothing. read more

Had another vet do it for $600 who had all kinds of horrible things to say about these GRIFTERS. I brought my cat in and dropped him to be seen after working a 12 hour nightshift and went home to sleep as they said it would be close to 4 hours before he would be seen. It wasn't but an hour later they called and said I needed to come get him because of air conditioning issues from the storm days prior. I don't know why they had me come drop him off if they were having this issue and it would be hours for him to be seen. By this time it's almost noon and all other emergency vets have around a 6 hour wait time (I'm assuming also due to this issue at Med vet and patients now going elsewhere). So I had no choice but to take him home without being seen and really no other options on places to take him. I wish they would have just told me from the start so I could of taken him elsewhere. read more

Brought our 4.5 month puppy in with a broken leg and waited 8 hours for nothing to be done besides given pain medication. His leg was not stabilized in any way and was hanging limp when we left. Kept asking us what happened at least 7 times, waited in a examination room for an hour and a half before a veterinarian came in that told us she was "way in over her head." They told us he would be out under anesthesia and they would put a splint on his leg. We waited 4 hours for this to be done, another hour for him to be discharged, and then they brought him out looking the exact same as he did at check in. His leg was STILL hanging limp. They wanted a $5,500 deposit 3 days before they could even get him into surgery. Once we told them we wanted to find a cheaper option on the surgery, they did not preform all the tasks they told us they were going to do. An EXTREME waste of time and DO NOT recommend this "emergency clinic." We left with his leg not stabilized at all and no after care except for "keep him in a cage besides going to the bathroom." Thank you so much MedVet- incredible advice. I wish we would've went anywhere else. Wasted our whole day when we could have went someplace that actually wanted to help our boy. I paid them $2500 up front, for what I am not even sure. My little dog was having a bad breathing issue and my vet said to take her to MedVet. They did some testing and other stuff overnight. They wanted to keep her overnight again and do more testing for another $2500-$3000 with no guarantee of her being able to be fixed or healed. I said No and they gave me some meds for her. I took her home and medicated her for a week and then took her to a different urgent care pet hospital at 9 oclock at night $108.00. with their diagnosis I decided to end her suffering and put her down three days later. Make what you will of this review. I am never using MedVet again and I will not return to the Eastgate animal hospital that sent me there. They earned part of the money I paid up front. read more

I believe my beloved Boxer, Bailey, my best friend and heart and soul, would still be here if it were not for MedVet of Worthington and Cincinnati. Long story short, Cincinnati delayed her stereotactic radiation 18 days from my radiation-oncology consult on 6-9-22 (she had a very treatable BENIGN brain tumor, with an excellent prognosis, once she received three radiation sessions), despite my pleas for the treatment to begin sooner, I was told - direct quote by the vet, her brain tumor "is not going to grow." I am a registered nurse, I understand that the disease process progresses, so at some point a few days here and there do matter, and I explained this to MedVet Cincinnati, but my in-person conversation, follow-up emails and voice mails were summarily ignored. Unfortunately, Bailey ended up having cluster seizures for the first time on 6-26-22, the day before her radiation was scheduled to begin (it should have begun sooner, as I kept asking) and dying the day her radiation was to begin, 6-27-22, when the RESIDENT neurologist at Worthington, the ONLY neurologist on hand both days, convinced me there was no path forward. (I live in Columbus, so I took her to Worthington when she started clustering). MedVet of Worthington is absolutely ruthless with its demands for payment. $3,700 deposit was required up front. Despite only being hospitalized parts of 6-26-22 and 6-27-22 my phone was constantly ringing with new estimates and cost projections. I said yes to everything - I started opening credit cards and calling my mortgage company for a line of credit in case it went as high as I was hearing it could - I would have gone over $50,000 or $100,000, anything to save my dog. They said a vent is $4,000 - $6,000 for the first day, then $3,000 a day afterward (she did not need a vent). It is $1,000 - $2,000 per day of being hospitalized. A craniotomy would have been $15,000 - $22,600 (and you need to lay down a $11,400 deposit...and who wants a resident physician performing a craniotomy? All she needed was three radiation sessions). Ultimately, on 6-27-22, the kicker is, as I'm about to go say good bye to my love Bailey, the guy at the front desk made sure he told me he was charging me another $2,800 because the care she received was above projection (27 or 28 hours total in the hospital, $6,500 charge)...between Worthington and Cincinnati (MRI and CT scan..neurology consult and radiation-oncology consult..there were delays and delays and delays between all of these things, and I scheduled as quickly as they would allow me), I paid MedVet about $11,500 for a dog who didn't make it, and should have...she was still playing for three to four hours a day at the lake and woods, had a great appetite and was totally oriented...I could not get Cincinnati to understand the urgency of starting her radiation and I could not get Worthington to act like caring people (the staff who gave me her body did seem to care, but most of the in-house staff just ignores you as you sob uncontrollably over your dog)...ironically, when my main vet wanted to refer Bailey to MedVet for an MRI, I asked for a referral to Ohio State...but she said Ohio State uses a lot of resident physicians, so MedVet would be better.... yet Worthington only had a resident I had to entrust my dog's care to.... MedVet is excellent at collecting timely payment, awful at delivering timely care. Bailey also came home from MedVet Cincinnati on 6-20-22 after her CT scan with a huge hematoma from where the staff said the CT clamps were (picture attached)...there was no apology offered, and of course, no discussion of refunding any money. Dr Callahan is such a wonderful vet. During our emergency she kept us updated on the situation. She stayed with our dog until she was sure she was ready to go home. We could not have asked for better treatment during our emergency. Dr. Callahan and the rest of the staff at medvet made our dogs medical emergency a lot less stressful for us. The whole time we could tell that Brownie was in good hands. Brownie is now completely healthy thanks to the medvet staff. I took my dog Rachel to MEDVET. She would you like yipe if you touched her. The vet at MEDVET shaved the area that was wet. It was discovered that she had fasciitis. They told me that they would do a CAT scan and see if the infection had gotten into her organs. The CAT scan was done and the infection was only superficial. They did surgery to cut out the dead skin and she started her recovery. Rachel was there for about a week recovering. I'm happy to say that she is back to her old self. There are no amount words to show you how grateful I am for what the doctors and surgeons and nurses did getting Rachel well. I would recommend this place to anyone. Thanks again MEDVET. read more

Do you love miscommunication and an increasing bill of course you do! "It's part of the package" it's one of their best lines. No one here on the desk staff seems to know what they are doing. When dropping my boy off for surgery I was told I had signed all the paperwork only to find that wasn't true and they needed the paperwork signed right away. Thank god I could email them a copy the First Lady on the phone admitted she didn't know how to receive an email with an e signature. The second lady was way more helpful. If you haven't signed at least 3 documents you may fall victim to this. I had to double back and bring him food which I didn't receive it or the container back. The actual Dr is great and a fantastic person. You can tell he cares. On the positive side they did clip my dogs nails. And he will walk again which was my only wish for Christmas this year. The estimate we received was between 2100 and 2600. We confirmed that the 2100 would be the low end. I asked if opting out of the neuter would bring the cost down. She implied it would for what we paid and I might as well have got the whole stupid package we put up for $2100 for the surgery and afterwords they tacked on almost an additional $400. While I was in the room getting after care instructions which were like 5 pages long the assistant bragged about a woman who sold her car to pay for a pets surgery they know how much our pets mean to us that's why they gouge us blind. So do your self a favor if you choose to go to this place which is pretty nice looking except for the bathrooms they were pretty smelly. Just know you'll have to take out a small loan to afford this place and there is no way to cut cost they will do something to raise the price. So be prepared. Ask them for a copy of any and all surgical records they did not provide them willingly. read more

Wonderful care was provided to our sick, ataxic cat as well as to us. We called at 3 am to review his symptoms and they had us come right in. With the COVID 19 isolation advisory in place, they've modified the patient flow and it worked seamlessly. We only left our car to hand off and take back our cat. Dr. Christy explained her diagnosis and treatment in detail and set up a plan for if his symptoms worsen. She was so caring and helpful. Even though it was obviously a busy night, she didn't rush us at all. No one should be so friendly at 3 am ;). Very grateful for everyone there to help our cat. read more

I had to take my dog here on a Sunday because he's ate something he should not have eaten or could possibly have had a blockage. I will not know until I go to see his vet in the morning. It is now midnight, and they just now called me to tell me he is still on a waiting list they're unprofessional, there is an entire waiting room of dogs that were worse than my dog. There is one lady that had a dog and she had been waiting there since 8 AM and when I took my dog and it was almost 2 o'clock her dog had rapidly been declining throughout the entire day, the vet tech have no clue what your dog is even there for they take their vitals and then tell others in eight hour waiting list. Can we send you back home? Why not? I only came in hour away for you to help me with my dog, pretty pathetic and sad of a veterinarian. Why even become a veterinarian if you don't help animals. I told him to remove me off the waiting list and she said well if he declines just bring him back what is the point he would not see a vet I would not recommend anyone take their dog there not on a Sunday maybe that might be the issue and then the lady told me it was OK to give my dog Pedialyte just to be told tonight it is not OK. I have been giving him fluids the wrong way. and since this app makes me have to give a star rating. It's a one because it would be a zero. read more

Overpriced service as for the most part they have you "over the barrel". Came in late one evening with my daughters cat acting and walking woozy, ended up with an overnight for a cat only getting fluids, based on our demand, for $700 and no diagnosis (they showed us the "care" needed was $6000, then went to our hometown vet where cat was appropriately diagnosed and needed fluid, was there for two nights and was fed, had fluids, was taken care of and the bill was under $300. They quoted 5,000. to do both of our dog's knees if done in the same year. We had 1 done in February, my wife suddenly pasted away in April, and I called and told them that I couldn't go through with the 2nd because I had too much to do. Now they've gotten our 5,000 deposit for the 2 and they came up with 1 costing 4,300. That's nuts. No one said going in the 1 surgery alone was that high. I think they cook the books on clients as some sort of penalty. Never again! read more

My cat was puking around 10 times a day and had bloody stool so I called this place they Told us to rush down there we get there they take my cat and bring her back out in five minutes and said her gums are pink so she's okay we'll call u and have u come back in about 8 hours then had the nerve to tell me when they call I have an hour to get there or they'll cancel not to mention I love about 45 minutes away by far the worse place to take anything you care about read more

Medvet is the go to for specialists in Cincinnati, my dog was rushed to the ER IN 2019 with presentation of severe pain, a tense abdomen, he couldn't even poop he would just lay down, he vomiting over 20 times in a few hours, he than began the cries of pain and wouldnt stand up and was in extreme pain. The doctors immediately took him back and began assessing, I was scared as my dog was barely over a year old, they did blood work, and a abdominal ultrasound right away, to find there was something in his colon/abdomen but they couldn't identify it as there was blood and fluid blocking the view, I was notified of the options I could take but without surgery he likely would die, and of course we opted for immediate surgery. Upon surgery they discovered there was blood filling his abdomen, stomach and colon, there was no obvious cause so they suctioned the blood, and gave him some dissolving stitches inside and then closed and stapled him. They didn't feel comfortable releasing him without knowing the cause so Dr Shwartz did her own personal research on all of his symptoms and surgical findings, and kept updating me throughout his stay on his well being. He was struggling a bit, so needed some serious sedation for his issues, upon further research she found he had a rare disease but even more rare as he was found to have the atypical form of Addison's disease. Which is rare in his gender and breed. She then was able to identify how close he was to death upon arrival, and I was so thankful because that morning I was gonna board him but if I had he would've died there. They say with me and discussed how he will depend on lifelong steroids and how to properly administer. They sent me home with multiple medications all on very hourly schedules, and I was not charged for multiple visits after that, due to side effects of his medications and a very cautious owner (me.) I could not recommend this place enough, it is better than any small town vet you'll find however the prices are steep but that's because they provide services other vets cannot due to the expertise and equipment. Don't ever tell your vet they can't do something, or Medvet isn't the place to go. Your dog will be checked thoroughly, and saved in every case. My dog just had his tail amputated from a serious injury and they took care of his aftercare and boarded him while I had to work, the prices were fairly reasonable for the medical boarding. I'll only ever reccomend this place for top notch care. read more

I wish I could give ZERO STARS- I have refused to go to MedVet for years- and now I remember why. My vet called ahead to let them know my dog accidentally swallowed a piece of a razor ... took them 25 mins to even bring him in, they induced vomiting and nothing came up ( which being in the medical field - this isn't a great plan anyways but I ok'ed it bc I was panicked) then he sat in a crate alone for hours- after he didn't throw up they said it may take 2 more hours to see the vet so I could go home and they would call with updates- this was around 9pm. I finally called at 11:30pm bc I had zero update- they said it would be 3-5 more hours before he would even be seen or evaluated by a vet bc he wasn't urgent enough ( keep in mind he had a VERY SHARP razor in his stomach confirmed by X-rays from my vet and we arrived at 7pm)...he wouldn't have been seen for over 10 hours. That is RIDICULOUS. I told the tech I was picking my dog up. It was still over $200 for them to induce vomiting ( by a tech not a Vet). Zero bedside manner... one vet tech said he had water the other said he wasn't allowed to bc he hadn't seen the vet yet. What a Cluster. I'll never go back. Ever. It's care center for me from now on- I belong to many dog groups in Cincinnati and I'll be posting this on every site. Your service was appalling to say the least. read more

I brought my 14 yr old mini poodle in this morning. She was suffering from sever diarrhea, was lethargic, not eating or drinking and pretty dehydrated. They were extremely busy and because of Covid issues I couldn't go in with my baby. I arrived called and they came out promptly to take Jazzy in for an assessment. The vet tech called for her information and they took her vitals. She was stable. They brought her back out to me but then said they could keep her for further assessment. I went home and waited about an hour for a call back. The doctor called said she needed fluids and some medications. After the treatment they called me to pick her up about an hour later. Sent home some meds for her. Fortunately she perked up ate some food drank some water and seems to be feeling much better. I know she didn't have a life threatening event but she is an old girl and could have gone south fast. The team at Med Vet was kind and professional. Cost was a bit higher then what my vet would have charged but not ridiculous. I have had a few other experiences at Med Vet . A couple were not extreme. But 2 years ago Christmas my sweet 16 year old cat AliKat reached the end. We brought her in and after giving her an assessment we all agreed that the best thing sould be go put her down. That is the worst hardest decision to make but the kindest when you know there is nothing but suffering left for your best friend. I have had the unfortunate task of losing many cats under the same circumstances and this experience was the best,if that is the proper word, I could have ever had. They have a special room where you, your family and pet can sit comfortably and say good bye. The doctor vet technicians and rest of the staff couldn't have been dearer. Each experience there has been 5 star as far as I'm concerned. read more

I want to start off by saying I had loved Dr. Schwartz- she had communicated effectively and great with me up. Prior to today I hadn't experienced any issues with the front desk but I was told at drop off that she would leave a detailed message once my dog was out of surgery. When listening to her voicemail she said he was doing well but that she'd call me back later and we would go from there. When I called back to see if there were any notes from her the woman who answered was very abrasive and off putting telling me again that if she needed to tell me anything that I would find it on the voicemail. Then why tell me she will call again later to go from there? I know your job is stressful but we are also stressed due to dropping off our animals to go into surgery and the only communication be through phone. The last thing you want to deal with is someone not being helpful or welcoming on the phone, and the tone of your voice does make a difference. UPDATE: I called again because I never heard back from the doctor and to just check on him. When asking when discharge would call me to pick him up the woman on the phone asked if he was still in the building under their care. While she was very polite and apologized for the lack of communication after not hearing back or getting a detailed voicemail there is a serious lack of communication. To not know if my 9month old, 6 pound dog is in the building or how he is doing after giving them $2,400 is not how things should be done. Not to mention the rudeness and abrasive attitude I've had from half of the people I've talked to including discharge. Only giving two stars because of the two women I talked to who were nice and apologized for the lack of communication and could actually update me on how my dog was doing. read more

We have been trying get a diagnosis for a long time and all I ever got was she is old and has arthritis. I have tried several different medications vetprofen, rimadyl and nothing worked. Dr Maritato knew exactly what was wrong with my Prue and she is getting better. I cannot say enough about this place everyone was friendly and compassionate, never once did I feel anyone was afraid of Prue. I felt really comfortable and confident that she got the best care possible. read more

My dog has an ongoing issue with incontinence. I visited the first time and got some really out of the box thinking, which was nice since my vet had run out of ideas. When nothing worked, the next time I brought her in, I got the same questions. $375. The vet even said they didn't do much. A possible solution would be $2600 (on the low side) for a vulvoplasty. They say someone from the team will call tomorrow. I'd like to shop around but whatever. The surgery team calls and we talk for 5 minutes. "Okay, now we're going to transfer you to billing." Excuse me? No one said anything about this costing anything. Okay, well, how much can this be? $175. For 5 minutes ON THE PHONE. I spoke with the surgery manager about how I wasn't told about the cost. Though, I understand there should probably be one, $175 is steep, especially in these times. However, there was nothing they could/would do. That's $550 in two days and we're no closer to getting this solved. Not unless I pay the $2600. With the hardships of covid, they'll bleed you dry before you even get to what will help your pet... Edit: my vet called me not an hour afterward and quoted the surgery at $500. They thought they had the procedure wrong at first due to the price disparity. I wish I'd just saved my money from MedVet and used it to pay for the surgery with my vet. read more

I brought my 16 yr old cat to the ER on a Saturday for complications related to her tumor biopsy performed the day prior and ultimately made the decision to say goodbye to her. I was VERY adamant with the ER staff that the one thing I wanted the most was to get a mold of her paw print completed. Weeks went by and I still had not received anything from MEDVET. When I called them to find out the status the staff could not locate the mold. It wasn't until two days later I finally received a call from MEDVET stating even though they have the order to complete the paw print mold, the tech never completed it. Apparently, the tech was told that the oncology department had completed it prior. I was also told it is a two person verification process. So I am confused as to why no one verified that the oncology department completed the paw print mold and since it was a Saturday and oncology was closed, why didn't they just make another mold?!? I am completely devastated. I will never trust them to perform a bereavement on any of my fur babies ever again! read more

Our dog was attacked by another dog and needed emergency care . From the front door to the end they are awesome there ! They make sure your dogs heart rate is stable before they take them back , laid down on floor to look under our girl to see her injury instead of making her be distorted to see it ! Have you ever seen this happen anywhere ? If I could take them there for everything we would ! read more

The staff at MedVet took wonderful care of our baby on two separate occasions- first when she had bilateral CCL tears, and then when she needed an episioplasty to correct recurring UTIs. Both times we were of course very upset and concerned about the risks and what the eventual outcome would be, but both times they ended up making her as good as new. The recovery time on the bilateral CCL repair was shorter than we had been told (although of course we partly attribute that to her being such a tough girl!), and the episioplasty went smoothly as well. She has not had a UTI since. Four stars and not five because of the cost. I'll continue to take her here if- God forbid- we need any more surgery in the future, because I feel very good about leaving her in their competent hands. But although I personally feel blessed to be able to provide that type of care for her, I still recognize that the price tag can get extremely large. Worth it, no doubt. But prohibitively expensive for many, and being an animal lover, that is a little sad. I am extremely grateful for the expert care of Dr. Schwartz and all of the other staff who operated on our girl and kept her safe and as comfortable as possible during her stays. Here's hoping that we don't need to use their services in 2017 like we did in 2016. read more

I'm shocked by the reviews that are posted. We were referred by our primary vet to go here after a biopsied growth showed signs of mast cell tumors in our Golden Retriever. We met with Dr. Back who did a series of tests at a surprisingly favorable cost. She followed up and was incredibly thorough on phone and in person... and promptly replied to my "over-thinking it" emails. We were actually referred back to our primary vet because the surgical removal of remaining cysts could be done by them at a cheaper cost. They acknowledge that they are advanced and not primary care and that there are savings in only using their services when necessary. We ran into some issues post surgery with the work the primary did with the dog's wound. We decided to take her to MedVet ER. The doctor was amazing and reassuring and patched her right up. Again, leaving with a surprisingly affordable bill. We've never waited (no more than what is reasonably expected), but have had a wait just like your human PCP. The emergency visit was super quick. This place is super clean and super professional. I actually posted this when I went to yelp to see if they also do primary care because that's how satisfied we are with our experience. Caution that some of the other comments may be unfair or harsh, but I'm empathetic to their situations and some outcomes are terribly unfortunate. read more

Brought my kitty here and had one of the best veterinary experiences I've ever had. My usual vet wasn't open and her voicemail suggested MedVet, so that's where we went. The staff was very friendly and concerned with her condition, and they were incredibly attentive when I had to go through her laundry list of medical history. Dr. Jeff Smith treated her in a gentle and timely manner, took the time to explain her condition and our treatment options, and sent us on our way feeling comfortable with the next steps of at-home care.
