Don't go here unless you want to be overcharged. Took our dog here and they wanted $1500-$2000 for a couple stitches in the back of his head. After being charged $169 to be told we would be overcharged we left and went to another vet and paid $500. MedVet tried to justify their cost by saying it's the same cost as what stitches would be for a human. Guess MedVet is trying to adopt a cost structure that's the same as a broken human healthcare system. read more

Two years ago, I took my elder pet there with an emergency need. And had a very bad experience with one of their doctors. I shared it and a senior veterinarian and a nurse came out and talked with me. They went the extra mile. They set boundaries with the other doctor. They were incredibly kind. And helped me discern the best course of treatment. It helped me have two more years with my elder pet. Today I knew it was time. I was drenched in tears. And took my dog for his end of life appointment. The links they went to be kind, compassionate offered me choices to take care of my specific pets needs and let me love him till his last breath.... Well, I can't imagine they could do it better. Amy was the nurse, and the lady veterinarian. I don't know her name. They were absolutely amazing. I had an amazing 17.25 years with my beloved dog. They made sure that he was honored and loved. He died peacefully on my lap. Take your pet here. They will love and respect your pet and you. read more

They saved our kitty -- she would have died if we didn't have the care from the MedVet team. We had visited several other vets who just did not have the right equipment to see her intestinal blockage (She ate a blanket which doesn't show up on some ultrasounds). After the longest five days of our lives of kitty being lethargic/not eating/clearly dying, the radiology team at MedVet was able to identify the problem and get her into surgery that day. Thank you, Dr. Z! The whole team was kind and willing to answer all our questions. They also were very empathetic and treated our kitty like a princess. If we ever have another emergency (which I do NOT want to happen) we will immediately go back to MedVet. Note: some people say communication is lacking -- however, they are triaging emergencies. While every pet is important, sometimes there are animals with more urgent needs that have to be addressed. They are doing the best they can. read more

Communication is key to good service. Explain an extended wait to your patients. Explain why they are jumped in line by people who arrive after them. Simple failures in communication resulted in a very poor experience at 4 a.m., especially after arriving to an empty waiting room. One of the subsequent pet owners commented "I wonder if they are waking the vet up." This should have been a quick and efficient process for my dog, who was in a great deal of pain when I arrived. It's a stressful event for any animal to sit in a waiting room at a vet. I left before seeing anybody as it made more sense to wait another hour to see my regular vet. - I won't come back unless it is the only option. Do better for your patients. read more

Staggeringly incompetent customer service at this location, avoid it at all costs! My wife brought in our dog for an emergency visit due to a large gash in his face. When she arrived, they told her the wait would be one hour. Two and a half hours later, my wife left in tears as she was completely ignored by the staff there and given zero indication anyone would be seeing our dog any time soon. When I called to try to get an explanation, the receptionist had the audacity to say "oh, they went to see her five minutes after she left". Yeah, sure they did... if you care about your pet, never take them here for the good of their well-being. The people who work at this location are an absolute joke. Their ER was one of the worst experiences of my life. 10 hours of waiting in a tiny room followed by a misdiagnosis, telling me my cat has larynx cancer and sending him home to die. She saw no mass and did not do a biopsy. All they did was an oral sedated exam. Then it took them 3 hours to give me my cat back for literally no reason. Also, the front desk girl is a complete bitch every single time I've ever called and even when we checked in. She should be fired. I would never go to this ER again The only positive was the vet tech was amazing (and I do not like vet techs--one killed my cat last year). read more

Brought my cat in for injury. Wasn't sure what was going on, I came home and he wouldn't let me touch his back so I rushed him to MedVet. I didn't wait long, staff did everything they could with my sassy cat who did not want to be touched. Before I left they did one more check up on his kidneys, which took two staff members to hold him down but said they didn't want me to go home not knowing if he had issues there. They prescribed pain meds and said if he wasn't better I can bring him back and would wave the appointment fee, they would have to sedate him to check further into his issue. Long story short, my cat was back to normal after 3 days and was thankful for the time the staff took to check into his pain. Cost was around $360ish for everything. The main thing I did not like is you cannot go back w your animal and the waiting room is like small cubicles so you can hear everything going on. I am giving this clinic one star because they have a fantastic vet dentist. He deserves much more than a star. The clinic deserves nothing. When I first did my consult, which had to be paid for in advance , I was in a waiting room inside the building. I was not allowed to enter the exam room with my dog, because of "construction." I did get see the vet at that time. He is a caring, knowledgeable vet, without question. When I brought my dog in for her dental surgery, I arrived to find out there was no longer a waiting room. They were coming out for her and I would wait outside. This should have been told to me in advance before waiting for weeks. I was charged $2800 in advance over the phone by the office staff. I was not allowed to speak with the vet that was going to do the surgery. The support staff came out and took my dog, admidst my protesting that I was being kept out of the building. Does anyone know that these pets are family? I was offered an option of rescheduling until October by someone over the phone that managed the clinic. It already had taken weeks to get an appointment, and it was crucial as she had an infection. During her oral surgery, they did need to talk with me over the phone to get approval to do procedures that would add money to the bill. Once again, more money up front. What if my phone had gone down? What if I could not be reached because of location? There are a dozen variables that said they should have made other arrangements. Oh, and did I say it was 90 degrees that day? So waiting in the car from 7:00 to 4:00 would have been unbearable. I understand construction, but I also know that construction can be done in a way there is a waiting area for people who have pets undergoing serious procedures that are life threatening. Once again, I must state the vet involved saved my dog's life. He is a fantastic vet. But, the clinic has procedures that are not caring in any way. These pets are family! read more

The other was a phone call with another doctor( who wasn't doing the surgery) that told me if I didn't book a 5000 surgery And make a decision immediately I would be passed over. The GOOD: Took my 10yo Maltese mix dog because he was having syncope and seizures. Diagnosed him with pulmonary hypertension and prescribed medication for and basically resolved the issue even though they couldn't explain what was causing the Pulm HTN. The BAD: The clinic was under construction so I had to sit out in the car for hours, have discussion through phone calls. Also, I did not like that the cardiologist consulted and did $2300 worth of testing but never talked to me as the owner. Notes were discussed through the ER vet who couldn't really answer some of my questions and told me she wasn't even familiar with the med that was prescribed. I don't even know which cardiologist saw him or if follow up was needed. Then, I saw the internal medicine vet to try to find root cause for Pulm HTN and after $973 of negative test I was in the same place as before with no real answers as to what the root cause is. Advised to try to wean off seizure meds, this was not successful. Then when she called to tell me about the urine test results I informed her of this and she said she would talk to cardiologist and see what other testing we could do and get back to me and never heard back and it's been over 2 weeks now. read more

Being from New Jersey, we found ourselves far from home and, our beloved veterinarian, when our 7 year old Golden Retriever became ill. It was a Sunday afternoon when Charlie developed a sudden illness. Luckily we called our daughter's veterinarian, Cottage Animal Clinic of Carmel, and they suggested MedVet. When we arrived at 5:30 the place was packed. We read previous reviews and braced for the worst. We expected that it would be expensive and we expected that the wait would be long. Neither of those expectations were disappointing. We were there for 5 hours and it was expensive but they solved Charlie's problem and he's been on the mend since. They've also been pretty responsive with follow up questions and have been in sync with our veterinarian. I can't give them a 5 star because they don't deliver services that support their pricing but ... if the decided to dedicate themselves to great customer service, people wouldn't mind paying the prices they charge. They were amazing and so helpful and communicative and answered any of my questions without seeming annoyed by my never ending list of them they were open to visits, so understanding, and made me feel as comfortable as possible while waiting for sadie to recover. my dog is home to finish her recovery but without the team here she wouldn't have gotten better at all and i am just so so thankful, especially because she can be such a handful read more

IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. I can barely describe the anger and disgust I have with the service at this clinic and its abhorrent and predatory business tactics during a crisis. I understand that emergency veterinary medicine can be a thankless job and is in itself emotionally draining, and thank them for what they do, but the business model here is predatory. Our dog impaled himself on a fence. We physically pulled him off and rushed him to the emergency clinic where they proceeded to have a base-level employee apply pressure for 2 hours and take vitals. I was told he was stable and that they would call a surgeon. Stabilization in their eyes was to have someone apply pressure to the wound and sedate him. I'm then informed that he is spiraling AFTER 2 HOURS of nothing done and informed it would be $9000 dollars to have them call in their surgeon... Again after 2 hours of radio silence and doing nothing they offered to call a surgeon for 9K who was an hour away. I cannot fathom how an on-call emergency vet surgeon would be so far, but at this point, no meaningful care had been done and they'd wasted precious time. Their predatory business tactics continued when I stated I wanted to take my dog to another clinic with an on-staff surgeon. I was informed my dog would either "die there or be treated there" and that they would not release him to me. I would highly suggest that legal contact Dr. Lada and advise her of an owner's rights to their animals. I never signed paperwork releasing my rights to my dog, and for her to tell me that without $9K my dog would be leaving dead is not only inhumane but highly illegal. It is sickening that Dr. Lada waited until such a crucial point to offer what would be to many people, financial devastation or nothing. This "emergency vet" is not here to aid in actual emergencies, they are here to wait until the last possible moment and drain your pockets. I hope this will serve as a warning to everyone. If you want to put your pet down or you don't have an emergency, then MedVet is your place. But if your beloved pet's injury is serious, your animal will likely have to be "spiraling" before any treatment can be made. Though our surgeon was fantastic, everything else about this process has been a mess. 3 hours for any actual treatment is both inhumane to the animal and sickening. Again, I do want to give credit to the surgeon as she saved my dog and did a great job. But for those considering and in a timely emergency, please do not go here. Your animal will not likely not survive and you will have nothing more than ashes and a $10,000 bill. read more

A nightmare. I called in advance and told them my cat had a hairball, and could they help her. They said yes, they had the staff on hand. I got there at 8pm. The woman behind the counter said it might be 3-4 hours before she could get treatment, but the tech would check her out in 30-45 minutes. I told her "If it's going to be 3-4 hours, let me know, and I'll just come back tomorrow". An hour later the tech came and got my cat. Cut to the chase, 6 HOURS LATER AT 2AM, after asking for any status or progress repeatedly, I was told they hadn't gotten to her yet Everybody who had come in after me, had gotten their pet treated and left. I asked to talk to the supervisor on staff and told her it was unacceptable to tell someone 45 mins, or 3-4 hours, and leave them hanging in an unheated lobby for 6 HOURS, repeatedly telling them they were getting to my cat, when they had done nothing. I was pretty calm up to this point, but, the supervisor interrupted me and said "Do you want an explanation, or are you going to stand there and keep disrespecting me?" Yeah, telling them their service and treatment of their clients/patients is disrespectful. My problem isn't so much how long it took, but their complete contempt for me and my cat by not communicating to me the situation, and repeatedly lying to me about it. Had they told me it was going to be 6 or 12 hours, or days....that would have been a different issue. But, they are liars and don't give a damn about their customers or animals patients. read more

I recently took my cat in on a Sunday - she was having trouble breathing. She also has HCM so it wasn't something that could wait until her normal vet got her in. They took her back quickly and triaged her; she was stable, so I went home and waited for updates. She ended up staying overnight and was able to go home the next day with medicine and instructions on follow up. All of the techs were super friendly and the vet was very kind as well (vet was via phone, techs were face-to-face). An emergency vet isn't cheap. And since it's an emergency, people don't often plan. I will offer this advice: get pet insurance from one of them that offers a straight deductible and % coverage. Not going to sell any suggestions here, but the $20 (or $40 for a dog) a month you spend on insurance instead of coffee or Netflix or beers is worth it when you need it. Believe me. Or start a savings account for your pet in case of emergency. The only thing worse your pet getting critically ill is wondering how you will pay for it or even worse - not being able to pay for it. Which leads me to my second point. While I was waiting to pick her up, the vet came out and had to deliver really hard news to a dad and his daughter whose 13 year old dog was there for care. It was basically (in my words) "we need to do x immediately to stabilize her or she won't make it. But based on her symptoms and how she's presenting and other similar cases, it's probable that if you authorize x, she may have y which is a challenging diagnosis and does not have a high success rate". And x wasn't inexpensive (the dad asked). He kept asking her what he should do. His daughter was crying. He explained it was their family dog and she had been fine until that day. It was heartbreaking. Imagine that being your job - as many animals as they save, I bet they lose plenty - it's an emergency vet after all. Delivering news like that - I wouldn't make it past day one. And on top of dealing with the saddest pet owners who can't afford care or maybe they can but it's in the best interest of their pet to euthanize - the vets and techs and front office staff see plenty of people on one of the worst days of their lives when their pets don't make it. So there were a few times where I was waiting longer than I wanted to for a status update but you know what - my kitty was stable. They had more important and critical cases to deal with and a phone call with a status update can't be a priority when they need to save other people's pets. I have heard horror stories from friends and family about emergency vet visits in general (not this vet!) and I was not excited to have to take her, but the experience was great overall. They fixed my girl up and didn't try to sell me on expensive unnecessary procedures - can't ask for more! read more

Great curbside service during Covid, quick response considering multiple clients in parking lot waiting. Very caring doctor gave us several options as we weren't willing to spend lots of $ to pursue possible cancer tests or treatments. We decided to just have her paw treated & given pain meds to heal wound. After we got home and readied the medication to give, we discovered the vet tech had not mixed. This little bottle has powder form to be mixed with water I discovered reading the clavamox "for veterinary oral suspension" instructions on the packaging. I called the office to complain & the tech's reaction was oh, I didn't have it ready? Frustrating bc they suggested I drive back to have it mixed. The dosage also was more than the eye dropper, no such measurement as 1.3. There's one & increments if .25 so since guessing was involved I just filled the bottle with water since I couldn't possibly fill 14 dosages with an eye dropper. Very very poor service after paying over $300 for the service & medication. read more
