Great curbside service during Covid, quick response considering multiple clients in parking lot waiting. Very caring doctor gave us several options as we weren't willing to spend lots of $ to pursue possible cancer tests or treatments. We decided to just have her paw treated & given pain meds to heal wound. After we got home and readied the medication to give, we discovered the vet tech had not mixed. This little bottle has powder form to be mixed with water I discovered reading the clavamox "for veterinary oral suspension" instructions on the packaging. I called the office to complain & the tech's reaction was oh, I didn't have it ready? Frustrating bc they suggested I drive back to have it mixed. The dosage also was more than the eye dropper, no such measurement as 1.3. There's one & increments if .25 so since guessing was involved I just filled the bottle with water since I couldn't possibly fill 14 dosages with an eye dropper. Very very poor service after paying over $300 for the service & medication. read more

My little girl dog CoCo needed surgery for patellar luxation. We checked several highly rated vet hospitals in Indiana. We decided on Med Vet and are more than happy. The board certified surgeon that did the operation was so professional and explained the procedure so well, we were so glad we came here. Every person that we dealt with was so helpful and reassuring. Easy to contact them on the phone for questions, etc. We can't say enough about this pet hospital. Follow up appointments were on time. Excellent Covid precautions. Excellent location. Good parking lot with numbered spaces. You call the clinic on the phone and they come get your pet. If we had a question, a vet would come to the car to explain any concerns. We have wonderful progress on a little dog and I am so happy we decided on Med Vet! Thanks to all Staff. read more

Amazing vet techs and doctors. Our experience was stressful but they were wonderful with us and our dog.

First, this place charges more to see your dog than urgent care might charge to see a human. Next, forget about any courtesy for follow up. While they have medication in house, they will refuse to provide any form of refill without another extreme fee...even though follow up care with primary vet was followed. So now, my dog does not have medicine (the online pharmacy/Fed Ex are having unexpected delays) and MedVet claims that due to turn over on their staff it is illegal for them to provide assistance without another expensive visit. They did not share they add on admin fees for "staff and resources" not sure what that means and why it is not under the 150 visit and of course they do not tell you till it's over. Our outcome was not what we wanted but we feel that our Gracie was well cared for during the time she was there. We tried another emergency hospital prior to this one and left because we were not confident in the care our dog would receive there. Med Vet is still returning our calls even though our Gracie did not make it and keeping us informed of outstanding test results that could effect our other pets. Losing a pet isn't easy but they treated us and our Gracie with compassion until the end. read more

I appreciate this establishment taking care of my fur baby! Her original vet is closed on Wednesdays, and after calling around this was the place that was open and willing to take/help my baby. They were very kind, and patient with me and my thousands of questions and even better treatment towards my dog. Because of COVID, they are asking folks to check in by stay in their cars and call upon arrival. Once checked in, someone will come to your car and bring your pet in to be seen. Another thing I appreciate is their upfront communication with me about pricing. Once my dog was examined, the vet called and gave me two options to choose from, instead of one pricier option. Hopefully this is our last time coming, but if we ever have another emergency we will definitely give this place a call! read more

Hope I don't have to go back here, obviously, but my experience there was great. Sunday evening my cat started to have some urinary problems so I called them. The woman I spoke to on the phone was very polite. I brought my cat in and the woman on the phone was the same one that greeted me at the front desk and helped me with my questions and with the form to fill out. I sat for maybe 20 minutes and then my kitty was seen. Both the vet tech and the vet were very nice and professional and easy to talk to. They attempted to do a urine sample on her but were unable to do so because she didn't have enough urine in her bladder. I expected to be charged for this attempt (since it is walk in emergency medicine, I was ready), but I happily was not! I thought the exam fee and the fee for the medication I received were both very reasonable. If you have an emergency with your pet and are in the northern Indy/Carmel area, I highly recommend this location. read more

Maria Watko was absolutely wonderful. We recently adopted a kitten named Bean, and we brought him here after some concerning symptoms. There was a bit of a wait, but she called me herself and apologized because she was dealing with a true emergency case. It wasn't good news for our sweet Bean, but she was so sweet and helpful in getting the information we needed to get him treated by our regular vet. I was a bit of a mess so my husband called, and she gladly spoke with him for a while, trying to help us the best she could and even thanked US for doing our best to get Bean well. I am not sure if I have the right words to describe how amazing this establishment and their employees are. We had to put our sweet dog a few weeks ago and while it was the hardest thing we've had to, Dr. K and Emily made it the best experience it could have been. From walking us through everything that may happen, Emily giving us all the time in the world with our sweet Piper and not rushing us, to sitting down on the floor with us and her while she actually passed. They allowed us to stay with her during the entire process and while we were struggling with our decision, as I would expect most do, Dr. K thanked us for making a "selfless decision and staying with her". I'm not sure if he knew how much those words helped us feel like we hadn't done something wrong, no matter how hard it was. They treated her like their own for the brief time they knew her and made a horrible day better for the way they treated her and us. Flash forward a few weeks after our Piper's passing, we've struggled with it almost every day. In our mail today we had a letter from the MedVet and their employees, along with Piper's paw prints. The fact that they took the time out of their day to write us a letter, made us cry out of happiness for the first time in a while. We know our Piper felt love from the start of her life to the very end. Thank you Dr. K, Emily, and the rest of the staff for everything you've done for our family. This place just stole my friends dog. She took her baby in and was given a hefty price for care. She asked to be able to have time to raise the money. Later the same day they called a rescue place saying that the dog had been abandoned. Not even a day had passed. Only hours. Now my friend has lost her support fur baby and to top it off, there were hungry pups waiting for a healthy mom to return home. Don't sign any paperwork there. Alex the cat has visited here twice during Pandemic Times. He received thoughtful, thorough care considering the circumstances. Once arriving, call the office on the number listed on signs around the parking spots. They'll ask questions regarding your pet and which parking number (they're numbered) you're in. I called the office before arriving to let them know I'd be coming and to give an overview of what the issue was. I think this expedited the process because after arrival, Alex was in triage within ten minutes. How this works: they come to your car and retrieve your animal from you. So yes, it's stressful to be separated from your fur baby but they'll be in good hands. From there, the nurse called with updates and questions before the vet saw him. Then the vet saw Alex and gave me a call with diagnosis and plan of action. Overall, visit took about 90 minutes the first time and 60 the next. For the price: yes... it's more expensive than a typical vet appointment but remember: it's for emergency care, weekend availability, and immediate answers. I would not hesitate to bring Alex back if anything happened. read more

Our dog had a seizure for the first time ever. We took them to medvet as we had done research previously and they seemed like a solid place. When we got there, we spoke to a vet tech who then told us that just talking about what happened would not be a charge. The vet came out and we talked with them under the impression that it would not be a charge. The vet looked over our dog in the lobby and measured their heart rate but it was never told to us that that would be an exam and we would then be charged 153 dollars. We then found this out at the front desk when they told us we would get some information regarding seizures. We never got that paperwork, and the vet told us we wouldn't have to pay and that the charge would be removed but going forward that would be the going rate for the exam and what that entailed. I thought okay great I completely understood. Now 30 days later we are getting an invoice and conversations that we will have to pay for something we originally were being told we wouldn't have to pay for and don't have money for. From a customer service standpoint this is completely unacceptable and unfair. I can't review the actual veterinary services but from an administrative standpoint this is not okay. read more

We had to bring our dog here because he was lethargic and vomiting. Because of COVID we had to wait in our car while they took him in to be evaluation. You pull up to a parking spot, call the number on the sign and explain the issues your pet is having. A vet tech came out to take our little guy back and called within about 30 minutes. They weren't exactly sure what was wrong with him but ran us through our options and also listed what they thought it might be. They were very up front about costs and ultimately we opted to take him home with some medication instead of getting an x-ray. He ended up being fine after about 2 days but we ended up taking a stool sample back for them to run just to make sure nothing was wrong. We had to call them a couple days later because they hadn't called which was slightly frustrating but nothing was found in his stool sample test so we were happy to hear that. There is a flat rate (I forget the exact price; maybe $150) to run a series of tests and if you have to go back within 72 hours of your initial visit, that rate is waived. This is the only animal ER close to our house and was recommended by our vet. Hopefully we will not have to go back but it's nice to have somewhere that's always open so close to our house. Expect longer wait times since this is one of the only animal ERs in the area. We ended up waiting about 2 hours altogether but it was worth it for our four legged friend! read more

If your pet needs to be seen asap I'd recommend any other emergency vet. I brought my cats in because my regular vet referred it, waited for four hours just for them to be seen. I also brought my dog in because my regular vet suggested he should be taken to an emergency vet hospital. There were two cars in the parking lot (not busy at all) and we've waited for about 3 hours once again. Not sure what the vets are doing in the back or if they're understaffed but this is kind of ridiculous. You'd think with this being an "emergency" pet hospital that they'd be quicker to see the pets you bring in. read more

Will they take care of your pet? Yes. Will they charge you an arm and a leg to do so? Absolutely. That is to be expected at an emergency vet though. The problem here is the lack of communication about how much things will cost, how their scheduling works, and transparency in general. If you have thousands of dollars to throw at whatever "care plan" they come up with, this is the place for you. You will not know what you are being charged for until you are home from your visit when you receive an invoice via email that you already had to pay at the vet to get your pet back. And God forbid you go on a weekend. Automatically add another $213 specialist fee (or $175 depending on which tech you have but you will definitely be charged the highest amount possible) to your total. I didn't realize the weekends were for special emergencies only. Oh and Friday's count as weekends. They didn't find anything wrong with my pet after my regular vet sent me there emergently, yet they charged me $1000 and sent me home with three medications to give her. She had been vomiting for five days straight at this point, but they said nothing was wrong. Interesting considering the regular vet that knows her disagreed. To top it all off, the vet that "examined" my pup only referred to HER as a boy anytime she talked to me. 0/10. Would not recommend to a friend. read more

I took my cat there after his regular vet took x-rays and found his jaw was dislocated. When we adopted him, 6 years ago, he was missing part of his bottom jaw, and now the remaining part was dislocated. We had noticed he was drooling and his jaw was pushed back much farther than it was the day before. The dentists at Medvet felt that his jaw had malformed over time and there was nothing they could do. I told them that his jaw did not look like this 24 hrs ago, but they dismissed me. The dentist themselves would not talk to me and kept sending another Dr out to talk to me. I asked the Dr if the Dentists had looked at the Xrays and he replied"I think so" . I told them he couldn't eat and they said that they felt he could eat and to come back if he didn't. His jaw isn't attached to anything. They did not even look at the Xrays or the notes the vet sent over and would not lend any creedence to what I had to Say. I am beyond disappointed. I would never come back here. read more

I recently, sadly, had to put my 16 year old beagle (Skip) down on such a short notice. I was heart broken along with my mom on what was going to happen in such a short time. I saw MedVet building on the way to my old job and never really though about it until the moment I had to put Skip down. Their building is very clean, well built. The staff was extremely friendly and I knew they would take care of my baby. Though it was a sad situation, I joked to my mom a couple days after that, I don't think we could have taken him anywhere better! I felt as though we had a funeral service for him and so much love spread through the room! They were very open and gentle when it came to our wishes with Skip. We had to take our dog into MedVet for an x-ray after hours, on recommendation from our regular vet. Daisy had eaten a decent quantity of rug/carpet 4 days prior, pulling the thread from the carpet. We originally thought it could be as much as 4-5 cups, but it could have been less. (Turns out, it was a little less than 2 cups...) . She had been vomiting, was lethargic and sad, and could only keep water down. With the X-ray results, they confirmed there was a foreign body in her stomach, that looked like it had started moving down the intestines. Dr. Crabtree said it was very unlikely that she would pass the carpet through her digestive system without complications based on his experience. He said she would most likely have serious complications if we let it continue through her system. It would likely get stuck in her intestines, and could perforate her intestines. From MedVet, the only viable options presented were more x-rays or ultrasounds, hospitalization, scoping and surgery - ranging from $500 to $5000 depending on the combination. When we decided to wait and talk with our regular vet, Dr. Crabtree wanted to keep her overnight. We literally had to tell him, no. (At that point, we assumed we were going to have to put her down soon if we couldn't afford the surgery, and we at least wanted her home. The last place I wanted her to spend her final days was in a sterile Carmel office complex.) We asked about natural ways for this to resolve it, and he offered none. We asked several ways, and the only option we kept getting was surgery - either "now" or within days - or she wouldn't make it. Dr. Crabtree never mentioned vomiting as a possible resolution. Again, his experience and medical advice was surgery was the only option. We brought her home Friday night, in tears. We spoke with our regular vet and let her know we would probably bring Daisy in Monday or Tuesday to have her put down, simply because we couldn't afford $4000-$5000 in unexpected vet costs. Saturday afternoon, we came home to the most amazing gift - Daisy vomited up the carpet mass finally, after about 5 days of waiting. Her spirits are back, she's eating normally, and looks like will have a full recovery. I'm so glad we didn't listen to Dr. Crabtree's limited options, and decided to wait. I only regret that we had to live through 24 hours of thinking Daisy was a goner, a stress that could have been avoided if Dr. Crabtree had explored all possibilities with us - not just the ones that brought MedVet a profit. read more

Overall, I had a good experience with MedVet. It is a 24 hour pet emergency facility, and as such, it is fairly pricey - but that would be the same at any emergency hospital. When my cat swallowed some yarn and it got stuck inside him - on New Year's Eve, of all times - they were quick to see him and performed the emergency surgery the same day. All staff members were friendly and helpful, and thanks to the quick intervention, my cat is now back to his normal self again.. I hope I won't have to deal with emergency situations like this again, but if I needed an emergency vet, I would use MedVet again. read more

We took our sweet dog here after he had suffered from a stroke. They took him in immediately and were very knowledgeable and honest about his condition. Unfortunately, it was his time to go. The team was very respectful of our situation and gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye. A week later, we received a hand written card from the team with a notecard of our dog's paw print. The team at Medvet knows how difficult it is to lose a family member and we are grateful for them! My husband took our dog (who had stopped eating) to MedVet because they offered "emergency services." He waited 2.5 hours to be seen, and then waited an entire hour in the car without updates on our pup once he went in. When the vet finally called for an update, we had to wait over an hour in the car for our dog to be discharged.. which seem to have happened because someone simply forgot to check him out. The service/feedback we got from the vet was good and helpful, but the service was nowhere near timely. If we have to do another emergency run, we likely won't be going here.. as we don't often have 5 hours to give away (without knowing it would be that long). The best laid operations won't work if the place is understaffed and overwhelmed! read more

Everyone here is nice & pet friendly, really like Dr. Ball, but I'm not happy with their cost. My dogs surgery, $3200.00, each bandage change, $32.00, staple removal, $160.00. Last night (a few wks later) I found that they had forgotten a staple in his leg & was going to charge me an Emergancy visit, removal & bandage if I took him in today (sun) to have it removed. Chesty Puller's sister (I have 5 huskies) helped him out of his e-collar & bandages, when I went to re bandage his lag it looked like it had a start of infection, to take him in would be $100.00 for the office visit plus anything else they would have to do. When his foot swelled up & had I taken him in I'd have to pay yet more fees. So make sure you have deep pockets if you use this vet. I understand you get what you pay for & specialist cost more then regular vets, but I feel & this is my personal feelings, but I feel the owner of this clinic is money greedy more than wanting to help our fur kids. I'll update when his splint comes off. June 4, 2018 UPDATE Here we are 4 years later and had the plate taken off Chesty Pullers leg here at NC state. Dr. K said the plate was put on great and looked amazing... so again, I like Dr. Ball and she did a great job putting the plate on, but will stand by my statements of the nickel and dime nonsense. We just paid $1,900.00 to have the plate taken off, that was with the surgery, one screw with flesh... sent out to biopsy, bandages, bandages, pain medication and a sling to take home and suture removal AND the autoclaved the plate and screws and sent them home with me. The removal was done at NC State veterinarian school and hospital in Raleigh North Carolina. I am happy with Dr. Ball and her work and will recommend her, but again, have deep pockets. read more

My dog had a seizure at 12:30AM on a sunday. This was the first time my dog had a seizure and the first time I've been in the presence of a dog who had a seizure. I was stressed out and I immediately called my dog's usual vet. Of course they were closed and it was already outside of the on-call technician hours. I followed their voice options though and it led me to Circle City Vets. The tech I spoke to on the phone was very nice, and they put up with me calling them multiple times for directions because I kept forgetting. There were two techs at the front when I arrived around 1:40am, and they came out to help put my dog on a gurney since she was still extremely disoriented and was essentially a dead weight. The doctor and tech I spoke with in the examination room were very kind and attentive. They were very helpful, knowledgeable and clear about what might have happened, what services they offered, and they were also very open upfront about costs and estimated costs. I kept my dog there for 24 hr monitoring and true to their word they called at the times they said they would call to update me on her status. They were quick when I went to visit my dog in the middle of her 24 hrs. They even gave a follow-up call a few days after I had picked up my dog to check on her recovery. I would definitely come back here and recommend this place to others. read more

I had to bring my dog in for an ultrasound and unfortunately found out she would need to be euthanized same day due to her condition. The technician, Amber, was very sweet and sympathetic to my situation. She made some of the worst news of my life more bearable. I would recommend this location to any pet parents.
