    Shrimp Tacos

Popped over for a last minute brunch with some friends! Was able to get seated right away and had 2 servers work together to take of our table. I'm a sucker for shrimp tacos and I loved these! We ordered the focaccia for the table and it was divine. The iced coffee hit the spot as well!

My server was Madeline she was great. Love the ambiance. I came for a late dinner. My pasta was delicious. I could have held the chicken, it had no flavor. The background music is a nice vibe. Candles at the table. It's a really cute and cozy place. I definitely recommend.

We went to the Nutcracker pop-up; everything is nicely decorated, although I wish the Nutcracker lights were lit. The flamingo shirt was a delicious drink. Nutcracker Punch cocktail with rum is OK but, very chai tasting. . My husband enjoyed his chocolate old-fashioned drink. They do have a happy hour Monday through Friday 3 to 6 PM. Excellent service The shrimp taco was absolutely amazing whatever seasoning it had had a little bit of a kick, but so flavorful! I've been craving it ever since! The happy hour potatoes were very crispy salty and delicious! I loved all the little nutcrackers on the table! We were told a new one comes out every year from the ballet. We loved the bear and wish they had had them for sale which they did reach out and find out you can only get them by going to the ballet, but they hope to have them in the future for sale. We will be back the next time we are in the area.

Common Ground to me is such a hidden gem! I've always wanted to check it out and finally had the opportunity to for brunch. They have a really great brunch menu with a lot of options to choose from. I was also able to make a reservation the day of which is rare but super nice for a last minute brunch! There's plenty of parking available in the back lot. The inside of the restaurant is super cute with nice decor and good vibes! I decided to try the shrimp tacos as it was a bit later in the day. The tacos were very flavorful, with a nice bang bang sauce topped with some avocado sauce and slaw. You also get three tacos which is a lot! I did decide to get a chocolate banana iced latte which was absolutely delicious. They use coffee from 8th and Roast so I knew it would be great! Next time, I need to try the espresso martini flight, as that looks incredible!

Yum!!! Came here for Father's Day brunch (was able to get a reservation day-off), and was pleased. The only thing I will say is that it took a weirdly long amount of time to get our appetizers out. We were starving at that point. Also, our waitress took away our plate of half-eaten croissants without asking. Otherwise, service was good. Here's what we tried: Croissant Trio: 6/10 - Pretty underwhelmed by these. The croissants were not of super high quality, and all the flavors were a bit overwhelmingly sweet. I did enjoy the chocolate one, but the jam was too sweet and the almond croissant had nearly no flavor. Focaccia: 1000/10 - WOWWW!! MUST GET!!! Out of this world. You would never expect it, but this is the best focaccia I've ever had. It comes in a gorgeous tower of perfectly crisped up, buttery focaccia sticks. They are of utmost perfection. It also comes with a plate of dips, 2 of which were absolutely mind melting to have paired with the bread. The sweet butter and the citrusy Boursin cheese just took it to new levels. Shrimp n "Grits": 7.5/10 - I really liked the sauce on this dish but I had a qualm with how the polenta was prepared. I think the dish would've been better with a looser, more liquid polenta, as having it in a cake form like this makes it so the inside of the polenta is bare and flavorless. Having a pool of polenta topped with sauce and shrimp would've really hit the nail on the head. Just some notes! Breakfast Burrito: 8.5/10 - Loved it! The pineapple salsa it comes with has a tiny kick to it, and the sweetness is great. I also love that the burrito has smashed fingerling potatoes in it, which adds a bit of richness and textural contrast. The side salad was standard. Frittata: 8/10 - I understand people who say the "deconstructed" nature of this frittata is weird. But to be honest, I liked it. While the egg cakes may have been a TINY bit dry, I loved that you oddly pick how much of the cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, sauce, and arugula to add to your bite. A fun, light choice!

Wonderful Saturday brunch. Easy to make a reservation. Seated immediately. Promptly attended to with excellent wait staff. Got the burrata toast and ceviche to start. Both were delicious and light. I got the sangria and my partner got a bourbon cocktail that both were wonderful and fairly priced. I got the steak and eggs which was a unique spin as the meat was actually short rib. This is served on a bed of crispy potatoes that gave the entire dish a wonderful combination of textures and flavors. My partner got the frittata which was light and delicious. We didn't have room for dessert but were planning on getting carrot cake. Overall an excellent Saturday Brunch!

Service was great. Place looks fine but plants were fake, yuck. The beef lettuce wraps were delicious. Other dishes were well conceived yet execution had some wins and mostly bigger fails. Scallops were seared fine but there were only 4 small pieces. Corn succotash was heavy and thick sauced, bland in flavor with no acidity or natural corn sweetness...hoped for a lighter, brighter, fresher side dish. The waitress brought some goood carrots out to replace the corn. Chicken Katsu was cooked well but no seasoning and the vinegar cabbage was no match for the large amount of marmalade. The rice was a dense pile of mush and no detectable furakake. Salads could have been saved if the peaches had some help with perhaps a candied spiced pecan to balance the super salty black cherry vinaigrette which had no cherry flavor..maybe a touch of honey in the vinaigrette would help. Wasn't hard to get a reservation on a Saturday and I don't see this place lasting much longer unless brunch is a bigger crowd. Seems like the owners have just stopped checking in on what leaves the kitchen. We went to Hugh Babys across the road afterward for some satisfaction. I paid 36 for the 4 scallops and some carrots.

First time trying this restaurant, came here with my sister and we truly enjoyed ourselves. We came on a Sunday and the restaurant had a super chill vibe. I was surprised that it wasn't busier bc the food was amazing. My sister got the smash burger - 5 stars I got the roasted chicken with butternut squash purée (they ran out of cauliflower) with spinach. I think they should keep the butternut squash purée as an option. - 4 stars Perfect spot for a group, date, happy hour, etc. I totally recommend and I will be back.

The space is white and bright. The staff was very nice and attentive. We went for Sunday brunch. My friends shared the carrot cake French toast to start and really enjoyed it. We all had the Frittata for our main course. It's a deconstructed version. I was not a fan. It ended up being basically layers of over cooked scrambled eggs cut into a circle, with some bacon sprinkled on it and some tomato and arugula with a vinaigrette. I would not get it again. Maybe their other items are better. I also got a drip coffee, the only sugar options were brown or stevia.

Have been hearing a lot about Common Ground and wanted to go try it. I like the atmosphere, although I think they could move the morning coffee stuff on the main bar and put in more seating rather than lose business at night. The food was very good, but not sure I could can follow the Yelp Elite 5 star trend. Good solid 4, probably 4.25 or 4.5. Here is the review. I went last Friday with my kids for an early birthday meal (Mine was on Sunday). My "apertif" was called Exisiting Conditions, which is a brown butter washed bourbon cocktail with apple brandy, amaro, sweet vermouth, ancho chili, raspberry and bitters (kind of like a not so sweet old fashioned?). Excellent start. Favorite drink name: Don't BNA Hole, by far. For starters, we shared the tartar and the focaccia plate. They were out of the jam with the focaccia, so had a humus instead as one of the side options. Boursin was right on point as was the sorghum butter, but the humus fell a bit short for me (great humus, but did not complement the bread as much). The tartar was very good, but would have preferred a good carpacio (which they don't do) or the hamachi crudo, which they did not have that day. During dinner, I switched to the white chocolate pistaccio espresso martini. My daughter did the honey lavender version. I found both good, but the white chocolate was a level above the other, but the honey lavender is very unique. They have other options, as well. For our mains, we chose the steak and chicken dishes with a side of potatoes and the asparagus (only one not pictured). Both mains were great, although I love a well seasoned and cooked steak, so that was my go to at this point. Potatoes were a mix of small roasted potatoes (the closest you can find in a normal grocery would be the mixed fingerlings). We ended up with two desserts: Carrot Cake and Mousse Crumble. The carrot cake was the winner for me, as the mousse looks a bit like a disaster. Flavorwise, the mouse is nice, however. Not overly sweet and has some peanut brittle to bring in some other flavors. About $60 per person, with drinks and all three courses, so not bad. Great experience. I will return some time and try some other menu items.

Shrimp and "Grits" w/ chai latte

Grateful to my fellow Yelpers for leading me to Common Ground for a late lunch. We arrived after the lunch crowd, but first impressions were positive due to the classy decor / hip environment. The quieter location was a refreshing break from lively Broadway. I ordered the shrimp and "grits," and the slightly spicy red pepper polenta paired so well with the sweet shrimp, which were a perfectly cooked texture. The braised short rib looked great, but my son was enjoying so much he wasn't letting me taste it...maybe next time! I'm usually a black coffee guy, but was glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried the chai latte, which was very good. This is definitely the kind of place I was like in my neighborhood, as it seems equally enjoyable for a brunch meal or a late night cocktail and snack. Oh, and the server was so nice...she knew we were visiting from out of town, and unprompted, she brought us a list of recommended activities in the areas.

    Breakfast Sandwich, Crispy Smashed Fingerlings

Stopped in for brunch on a cold Saturday afternoon. They were fairly busy but my party of two were seated with no wait. Service was good and the food came out pretty quick. I ordered the Breakfast Sandwich which comes on a buttered croissant with American cheese, local AF sausage and a scrambled egg. The quality of the sausage and bread were good, I wasn't crazy about the "scrambled" egg. My partner had the Smash Burger "Breakfast Style" (egg any way + two pieces of bacon) and it was top tier. From the bun to the double black hawk wagyu patties that just seemed to melt in your mouth, it checked all the boxes. Can't wait to come back and try their lunch menu.

Common grounds is a new restaurant on Charlotte avenue taking the old Chaatable space. Inside is beautiful! They completely redesigned the space with a very modern look. We stopped in to check out the new place and had no trouble being seated immediately. We started off with a glass of wine and the focaccia bread (pictured) as an appetizer. We both ended up ordering the smash burger which was delicious! Then we finished the night with a selection from their various espresso martinis. Service was excellent! Will definitely be back! Also parking behind the building or on the side street.

There was no live music available at the time, but they did have a DJ which I thought was spinning the turntable rather well. It's my bad that I didn't also catch on that his is basically a Tequila Bar, rather than a more general craft cocktail establishment. Judging by the well stocked bar and the word of our waitress, other alcohol and their associated craft creations are available, but it's pretty much off menu and not well into our waitress' repertoire. And yes, Cinco de Mayo was just a few days away. One member of our party just wanted a soft drink, which was not possible that night as their CO2 was down. That did make me wonder whether the non-alcohol drinkers had much to chose from here. I suppose we could have then wandered over to the Redemption Bar at Chief's? Anyway, we're not Tequila Drinkers, and since other drink options appeared to be guesswork, we left towards more traditional mixed drinks (and live music) at a nearby Printers Alley bar. This was a rare night that I really wanted a craft cocktail in a smooth environment, and in the end it just wasn't the same.
