After taking almost 3 years, MeetFresh has finally opened to the delight of every Asian dessert fan in Boston. The icy taro ball signature and icy grass jelly signature are generously loaded with red beans, boba, shaved ice, and taro balls. You could probably finish it by yourself but it's definitely something you can split with someone else. The Miss You Drink sounds interesting but it's basically the red bean soup with grass jelly in a cup form. It's mildly sweet and tastes good but nowhere near as alluring as the name suggests. The best bit of advice for getting service here (while the hype is still alive) is to come before opening time to beat the crowds because the line can get as long as the line in the supermarket before a snowstorm. I'm from California and I know Meet Fresh is a hugely popular Taiwanese dessert chain. However, this location fell short of its mark. Shaved Ice - all the toppings were put at the bottom of the cup and shaved ice was poured on top. This meant we had to eat spoonfuls of ice before reaching any toppings. "Hot" red bean soup - the soup was lukewarm and we had two large chunks of taro which were difficult to eat. The toppings of taro balls are underwhelming to the American palate, since it's very mild and not sweet at all. Not all was a miss though - the sesame rice balls (known as "Tang Yuan") were absolutely delicious. These are balls of rice filled with a creamy sesame paste filling. If you're expecting sweeter desserts or you're non-Taiwanese, try their sesame rice balls, or wait for their seasonal summer shaved ice items. (Perhaps the missteps could be attributed to training and staffing issues as they deal with long lines? If they work out all the kinks, they could become a mainstay of Allston's Koreatown and attract an even bigger Asian demographic.) read more

First time trying Meet Fresh & taiwanese shaved ice. Overall it was good. We got the large for 3 people and it was more than plenty. I liked the toppings and the tapioca was perfect. However when we came it seemed like the AC wasn't on or strong enough (it was a hot day) and the place felt stuffy. read more

Finally got to try meet fresh!! I was so excited that they finally opened and it definitely did not disappoint. The store front is right in the middle of Allston so very accessible! Their store has a decent amount of seating so great if you want to sit in, relax and enjoy your dessert. The taro ball signature was nice sweet but not too sweet. The mochi was delicious, very nicely chewy and the taro had a nice creamy texture. The ice below was refreshing. The only thing that was a bit off was that all the sugar was on the bottom so some parts seemed a little bland while the bottom was more sweet. As for the grass jelly signature that was really delicious. The sweetness level was balanced through the entire dessert. The mochi was nice and chewy and the grass jelly provided a balanced and refreshing taste. Definitely a great place to stop by after dinner! read more

I've been waiting for Meet Fresh to open for years and it finally happened! Located in a busy intersection of Allston, this location is always packed even in the middle of the week. There's a variety of soup desserts but we ended up with the double taro signature bowl. It consists of taro balls, taro paste, ice cream, shaved ice, and herbal jelly. It was all very delicious - especially the warm taro balls which complemented everything so well. A little pricey for the size though which bumps this down a star for me. read more

I came here on a hot day and ordered the medium size for Pudding & Q mochi milk shaved ice. Even though it was a medium, sharing it between two people was more than enough. The ice had flavor and tasted like it was incorporated with condensed milk. I felt like the caramel pudding was lacking in flavor compared to the almond pudding. The Q mochi was my favorite topping as it was packed with brown sugar flavor and was just yummy paired with the shaved ice. I would come back here to try their other stuff! read more

It had caramel pudding, black sugar boba, vanilla ice cream, and I think some grass jelly. The taro balls made it even better. It was so good and I like how the ice was sweet and had a lot of flavor. I had been waiting 2 years for Meet Fresh to open, and it finally did! I liked them back in TX and CA and was excited for them here. I didn't think it was going to open until I saw their FB ad. The drinks here are really solid. They taste pretty similar to what you might get from Gong Cha but I like Gong Cha. I got the Win Win one which has both lychee jelly and boba, and the combo is quite tasty! We got a customizable dessert with the icy taro balls, red bean, potaro, boba other tangyuan balls. I wish there were a lot more glutinous rice balls (tangyuan), the bigger ones with fillings, because those were the best tasting ones. The other ones were not as good but still fun to eat. Since there was no dine-in, our entire shaved ice just melted by the time we got home...which was sad, but the soup was still sweet and good. This dessert is a lot better than you would think, and is worth the try! I know I'll definitely have the craving for it every now and then. Be prepared that the dessert will be pretty filling. I've always liked their grass jelly, but I recently tried their shaved ice - and wow, it a game changer. Definitely come with friends and try the shaved ice. I've also always managed to find seating inside. If the tables are full, if you just wait a bit, I'm sure a group will leave and a table will open up soon! read more

Came here on a Sunday around 6pm and it wasn't as busy as the post-dinner rush. We were able to find a table quickly. For two of us, we got the Icy Taro Ball Signature. I also ordered a Fluffy Green Tea with Boba for myself. Both came out relatively quickly. The texture of the small balls were perfectly chewy and the whole thing was a moderate amount of sweetness. Great desserts! I was visiting from out of town, but I would love to go again if I had the chance. Staff were very friendly and the place was clean and well kept. The only downside is that the neighborhood looks very old, dead and little dangerous. If you're planning on visiting here, I highly recommend taking uber/lyft there, instead of taking the public transportation. read more

I came along for my vacation in Boston and I think the people here are really nice until I walked into this place. A male staff with the blond hair. Quaint environment with an extensive menu. There was a lot of people so it took maybe like 10 mins to stalk a table for 5. We ordered the icy grass jelly signature which has taro balls, grass jelly shaved ice and grass jelly. The grass jelly was fresh and it wasn't too sweet. It's very refreshing. We also got the mango and passion fruit green tea with lychee topping. There's no option to adjust the sugar and we asked if it was sweet, they said no ... which was a lie, we couldn't drink it and had to dilute it down at home. The last item ordered was pudding & Q Mochi milk shaved ice. That included almond pudding, caramel pudding, mini q, q Mochi, melon jelly and ice cream. It wasn't too bad, the best thing was the almond pudding. Overall would definitely come back and try other items. read more

I ordered 1 oolong tea. Nothing complicated. I watched what I thought was my drink just sit there behind the counter. After 10 minutes, I checked on my drink, without even checking, looking or trying, the guy told me it wasn't ready. After 10 more minutes I watched the guy put the same drink I was watching for the last 20 mins onto the pick up counter. 20 minutes for an iced oolong tea. Absolutely ridiculous. Ice is melted, boba is hard. I don't understand why you would continue to make other orders when 10 orders have been fulfilled and you just leave it sitting behind the counter to melt? Honestly, 0/5 if I could. read more

Yesterday was my third time coming to this place and let me just say it exceeded my expectations. The past few times I would've rated it maybe a 3.5 out of five because the ice was not soft and felt very crunchy/not smooth. However yesterday the ice was so soft and it had such a great flavor; I was really impressed. I really like the atmosphere within the store. It really reminds me of Asia!! Sometimes I have to come here. It's been pretty full however, it's never been too difficult to snag a table if you just wait a few minutes. My favorite dish is definitely the signature grass jelly-- it tastes soooo good with the coffee creamer they give you I highly recommend it!!!! read more

The first two times I've been here, the sweet soups were amazing. However, I'm pretty disappointed with my order this time around. I've ordered one hot red bean soup signature and one hot grass jelly signature for takeout, but they gave me two red bean soup signatures instead. Normally I wouldn't mind if the business was busy, but I literally was the only customer in the store at the time. The worst part though is that both sweet soups were sour/spoiled. I get that it's a tough economy, but as a food service business, you really can't sell food that isn't fresh to your customers. It's really disappointing because these types of behaviors are repeated, and as a customer, I'm not looking to buy food I can't safely consume. read more

Finally able to check this place out now that they're opened! The place is well air-conditioned (a plus during the hot summer) with good seating options. They have a long counter next to the register with red lanterns that remind you of the tradition Taiwan streets. Just order your drinks and food at the register, receive a pager to buzz you when your order's ready, and find a spot to chill and enjoy the yummy drinks/bowls. read more

Love it!!! I've always wanted a place like this to open up in the Boston area. I was indifferent of the ice cream and taro paste but the mochi texture of the taro starch stuff in there was delicious, the ice, herbal jelly and cream all went well together. (Not overly sweet and not plain flavoring) Noticed it was pretty busy when I went on a Friday night. I would definitely come back to try more items off the menu! It did not disappoint :) read more

Like many others, I have literally waited YEARS for this place to open. I arrived maybe 10 minutes afer they opened at 1pm on a Sunday and the line was out the door! It did take a little long to receive two drinks and a dessert, but it was understandable since the place was pretty packed and just starting out. Pretty yummy but not worth almost 11 bucks for a small serving of dessert though. Hard to find street parking. This location is right at the corner of a busy intersection. Came here twice in a week, and they were out of boba both times. The second time, they didn't tell us until after we placed our orders. They also overcharged for taro paste in the drinks. When we pointed it out, they said all the menus just have the wrong price... Anyway, the hot desserts were decent; would go elsewhere for drinks. read more

After a couple years of waiting, they have finally opened! We came about 15 minutes before closing and this was still their soft opening phase. They didn't have that big of a menu compared to other Meet Freshes, but definitely a good amount. I got the red bean hot soup combo B, and tried my friends milk tea with pudding. The soup was average, not bad but not the best. It kind of lacked flavor and was pretty bland. The milk tea was very thin, which was kind of off putting. It was a busy day so I understand things may have been rushed so definitely would try again as there isn't as many dessert places in Boston! read more

Got the icy ball taro dish, and it was pretty tasty overall. I'm a fan of taro so definitely enjoyed the taro mochi things. They're also a pretty color. It was a bit pricey, considering what you're getting. I feel like the quantity should've been larger, a lot of it was ice, which is kind of the point, but didn't feel like the right balance. Would go again if I'm really craving something taro and sweet, but not worth going on a regular basis. read more

Went at apx 2 pm on Friday. Lots of seating was available. I have had saved ice elsewhere and their texture is different but still ok. It felt like little ice pellets, not shaved ice as I have had at other places. I enjoy taro a lot so I had their Icy Taro Ball Signature. I was not disappointed in the taro. The tapioca pearls were small but ok. I would not get them again. They have a small sign about bussing the tables yourself. Be sure not to miss it or they may raise their voice at you like rhey did to me. It was a very awkward moment as I was actully going to ask where I could leave my tray and bowl. read more

I do miss a lot of the dishes they had when they were still in Artesia such as their squid vermicelli and this one fried rice that got my brother and me through many long nights of studying... but I understand that they may have had to shorten their menu to fit the flavor profile of Boston. One can only hope they'd bring back some of those. I will never turn down the chance to pay my old faithful a visit whenever I'm in Allston.

Meet Fresh in Brighton deserves all five stars! The Passion Fruit and Strawberry Tea was refreshing and full of flavor--a perfect drink to enjoy on a warm day. I was also craving Strawberry Milk Tea, which wasn't on the menu, but the staff went above and beyond by making it for me anyway. It was delicious and really hit the spot! Plenty of seating is available if you want to sit down and enjoy the ambiance. The location in the heart of Allston is super convenient, making it a great place to stop by when you're in the area.
