Icy grass jelly signature
Stephanie T.

Food: 4.00/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 3/5 I enjoy the icy grass jelly special a lot, because it's a refreshing desert that isn't too sweat at all, and I like the creaminess the cream packet adds to it. The taro balls are the best texture and taste delicious without any particularly large flavor. The fruit tea boba is pretty solid, I've never had milk tea here before though. Bubble waffles could improve, tube gotten the red bean matcha a couple times and I think it could be sweater. Service is typically a little slow, nothing terrible, but the people do not seem the happiest to be there. Ambiance is very open dialogue, many lively discussions happening and very causal, but space is small and I frequently have trouble finding seating and end up taking my stuff to go. It's very close to the public parking lot behind Blanchard's and street parking, so pretty forgiving as a greater Boston area for drivers.

Taro Volcano

This place is a vibe! It's basically like a dessert restaurant or a dessert café. Devoted entirely to dessert from Taiwan that likely gives people a taste of home, for that amazing nostalgia factor. For my boyfriend and I it was a new experience. We got this volcano taro dessert that was fire. It took me back to my childhood when my dad would pour condensed milk on fresh snow as a treat for us. This volcano ice has the works- ice cream, caramel, pudding (like flan), condensed milk, boba, taro... just so many textures and flavors. This is a great place to come and hang out with friends on a hot day.

Hot Grass Jelly Soup Signature - Before you mix it

Walked in and was immediately bombarded by 2 girls selling us on downloading and ordering through their Hungry Panda app. There was a free gift and my kids wanted it so we did it, lol. Hot Grass Jelly Soup Signature - This doesn't look very good but my wife enjoyed it. I thought it was okay, kind of bland, not that sweet. Wished we got the red bean instead. Chocolate waffle - Completely missed that they had a chocolate CHIP version which may have been better. However, the waffle was overcooked. Place is decent and the options seem good, so we may come back. Its so conveniently located right in the middle of the allston food scene where street meter parking is abundant (but not easy to get). The dining area is clean and decor is modern and pleasing. Staff was friendly in answering questions.

Meet Fresh is a Taiwanese dessert shop tucked right in Packard's Corner, offering a wide variety of hot and cold dessert bowls. When we went, staff interaction was pretty minimal -- they were mainly focused on preparing the orders, which was fine since it gave me time to browse the large menu. One thing that threw me off was the odd smell when we walked in; kind of like body odor, but could've just been someone in the shop, so I won't judge too harshly on that. We got the Thai Tea Tofu Pudding and the Signature Grass Jelly. The grass jelly bowl was decent overall -- the jelly itself was good, but the shaved ice didn't really add much. The Thai Tea Tofu Pudding, unfortunately, was a miss. Even though we were only 5 minutes from home, it completely melted by the time we got there. The Thai tea tasted like watered-down powder, and the tofu didn't really have any flavor -- just a block of silken tofu with not much going on. The red bean balls were the highlight, but not enough to save it. Pretty disappointing first experience. Might give it another shot in the future, but only to try something different.

Crystal Mochi Shaved Ice and Chocolate Chip Bubble Waffle

Interesting menu! I was curious about crystal mochi - it is not like mochi at all; it has more of a jelly texture with red bean paste filling. It was good but I prefer mochi. Overall, the shaved ice was yummy. Ambiance was nice. I sat next to a sunny window that offset the coldness of the shaved ice.

Pudding & Q Mochi Milk Shaved Ice

Great place to go after grabbing a spicy Szechuan meal! Got the Pudding & Q Mochi Milk Shaved Ice, ordered a large because it was only $1 extra but it was HUGE (we shared between two people and struggled to finish it). The toppings were pretty good overall, but if I were to be picky, I would have liked to swap out the almond pudding and regular mochi (a lil tasteless)

Large pudding and q mochi shaved ice

A no frills dessert place. Ambiance was decent and noise was an acceptable level. A nice place to go after eating at nearby restaurants. I would order a medium next time as we couldn't finish the large after a meal at mountain house.

Brown sugar shaved ice

Recommended by a couple coworkers for their milk tea and shaved ice so finally gave it a try. Milk tea reminds me of the hk milk tea. Love!! The brown sugar shaved ice was soo good and refreshing. We got a large for two to share and it was huge! I just hoped for more toppings on it. In the end, we were left with just large amounts of shaved ice left. I would come back!

Nice spot for shaved ice condensed milk mochi, i think the only thing that would elevate it even more is have more fruit add ons or any fruit add ons for the shaved ice items. It was still yummy, flavor soaks down so when you get to the bottom of the bowl there's a lot of flavor at the bottom and in the middle of the ice mound. The service was quick get a buzzer, and pick it up when the staff is done making your plate. We shared a large and it was definitely a lot haha. Had different types of mochi around the shaved ice. I believe we got the Q mochi milk shaved ice. I can't find my picture of it but if i find it I'll upload! Alotta folks from the dinners around the area stopped in after. Another couple that sat next to us earlier for dinner also showed up there! Does have bathrooms and plenty of seating space.

Wasn't too sweet and a nice little dessert. I don't say this often but I kind of wish it was a little sweeter. First time not getting the shaved ice and wasn't dissatisfied. I still prefer the shaved ice but this is a good alternative if you want something less filling. I really like their Mochis as it had a the perfect chew. I will try the taro one bowl next time. Location wasn't too busy for a 7pm on a Friday.

Really enjoyed my shaved ice here! The taro toppings went along with the vanilla flavored ice cream very well. The prices are reasonable and the service is great! Would highly recommend!

we stopped in this past Sunday for a shaved ice. The order came out, the toppings were on the conservative por The shaved ice was not shaved ice but in actuality, ice chunks. we've had this problem in the past, but we thought it was in one time, anomaly, sadly to say, it's a continuous thing. i hear other tables complain about the same thing.

Mark L.

Very disappointed. The milk tea is tasteless. Already with less ice. See the pictures, looks diluted as well. Been to many meet fresh in California. This one is the worst.

It has a spoonful of mango syrup which enhances the shaved snow. So definitely pour on that delicious mango syrup! The mango is so fresh and it is creatively put together to enjoy! The ice cream croffle is another great choice to try! The strawberry ice cream is mixed in with fresh fruit pieces and is mixed in a flavorful texture to the croffle. Overall, I am a big fan of Oasit's and it is a favorite dessert spot! I have always enjoyed desserts where the dessert is "not too sweet" and all the desserts here were delicious. We got here right when they opened so they were still preparing the premium onigiri for the day. Service was very friendly - order at the register and pick up your food when ready. We did order one of each - Chashu & Aji-Tama (Braised Pork & Egg) - this was one of my favorites, flavorful and fresh. Karage - Probably our second favorite - the chicken was tender. Spicy Karage - similar to the regular karage but I wasn't the biggest fan of the spicy mayo Takana (Pickled Mustard Leaf) - this one was surprising but very good and a little spicy. I also ordered their Cherry Blossom Tea and the Hojicha Latte. Both were good teas. I did some shopping here too as they had a variety of snacks, teas and other trinkets. They have a small little refrigerated fresh food section where you can also get onigiri and other foods. Very cute spot and good amount of seating inside. Nice, quiet and calming inside. The location near Northeastern and Symphony Hall gives it a built in audience of students and concertgoers, and the spacious hardwood interior handles both crowds comfortably without ever feeling chaotic despite the energy that tends to fill it on a busy evening. The drinks are the main reason to come, and the specialty lattes are where the menu shines. We tried the strawberry latte and the misutgaru latte, both of which lean closer to dessert drinks than traditional coffee preparations, thick and satisfying in a way that works well for a late night treat. The bingsu is the food item worth ordering, and the green tea and red bean versions are both well executed in a way that the rest of the food side does not always match. The macarons are a solid accompaniment, crispy on the outside with a lightly gooey center that lands where it should. Service is friendly and efficient, handling the steady flow of customers without delays even when the cafe is full. The space remains comfortable throughout, with plenty of seating and a relaxed energy that makes it easy to settle in for an extended visit. Beyond the drinks and bingsu, the food menu is uneven, and some of the pastries feel more convenient than considered. Sticking to the specialty lattes and the bingsu is the smarter approach. For a late night cafe stop in Boston that reliably delivers on atmosphere and a few standout items, Caffe Bene fills a gap that few other spots in the city address.
