This is a solid diner option, with all day breakfast and lunch. After much debate, I had a veggie omlet, that had broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, and onions in it (fun combo!), and I asked for extra cheese. It was huge, also fluffy and cheesy, with toast and delicious home fries. I came in a little after 1, and I think they close at 2, so they were obviously cleaning up and getting ready to close, but service was fast and I didn't feel rushed. Solid choice! read more

Samantha's Frontier Restaurant is open every day from 6 AM to 2 PM. They serve ample portions of delicious foods at reasonable prices. This standalone restaurant is located on East Maple Street in the village of Hartville, Ohio. The private parking lot is of adequate size for the business, this is good because the place can get packed. Every time I've visited, it has been very busy. The Samantha's franchise includes four restaurants in total, two in Canton, one in Louisville and this location in Hartville. The Louisville location serves breakfast, lunch and dinner while the other sites serve breakfast and lunch. I have not tried the other locations. I appreciate this restaurant keeping the 6 AM opening time when so many other restaurants serving breakfast don't open until 7 AM. I was with a group of ten when we ambushed the restaurant around 9 AM on a Tuesday morning. The restaurant was mostly full but they were happy to accommodate us. We pushed a few tables together and had a great breakfast experience. I cannot recall our server's name but she was delightful. She didn't miss a beat keeping our coffee cups and water glasses full and providing friendly and professional service. Every order was correct and everyone really enjoyed their meal. The food was abundant and oh so delicious. I had the Country Fried Steak and Eggs meal with homefries topped with grilled onions and peppers . For my bread I chose sourdough toast. My meal was truly fabulous, the best breakfast I've had in awhile. I tried a bite of my cousin's Amish Fried Mush and it was fantastic too. If you want eggs and a pancake it's fine. I've been here many times and the food is terrible now. Prices went up and quality way down. Many items are frozen and never has a fresh taste. Velveeta cheese and canned or frozen potatoes. Turkey and Swiss on rye is the most processed turkey I have ever seen. Couldn't eat the vegetable soup, tasteless and couldn't identify the potatoes from chicken. Squares of something in it. Absolutely disgusting, another regular customer gone for good. read more

We had a very friendly waitress and always had our coffee cups filled. Menu is pretty standard and we tried some breakfast sandwiches. Would want to try something different next time! The pancakes sounded great. We went on a Sunday at 11:30ish and had a long wait to get a table for 2. Would probably try a less "prime" time to go as the waiting area was pretty packed. Since moving to Hartville, this restaurant has become one of our family favorites. It can get a bit crowded at times, but the food is good, the portions large, and the prices well within standard for the area. My wife loves the veggie omelet, and it's so big she makes two meals out of it. Substitutions are allowed for sides, and there are a good number to choose from. My favorite breakfast place in Hartville. The coffee is better than most mom and pop home-style restaurants. They don't use Folgers or Maxwell House like so many others. They use coffee from someplace in Cleveland -I think. It wasn't my French press at home but it was a pleasant surprise. The food is pretty good as I like the sausage gravy topped on my eggs, potatoes, and cheese. All of us at the table enjoyed our meal and no food complaints. The only issue is slow service as it took them a long time to get our food ready as we watched a few tables order after us get their food before us. Maybe bowls just take longer ?? But they also showed wisdom in service by setting the coffee carafe down in front of me which made waiting much better. Prices range from $5-$8 for your basic breakfast meals. I have never been here for anything other than breakfast but I know my father makes frequent lunch trips here as well. They used to have a bison burger which was well known throughout the area, I don't know if they still have it. read more

My daughter & I were going out for our weekly morning breakfast at our favorite spot in Canton before we had to stop in hartville but sadly they were closed today so I looked to see if there were any good spots in hartville. Luckily Samantha's was the first to pop up so we stopped. BEST DECISION EVER! It was so good & they give you more food then you can eat but it's worth it. My daughter enjoyed every second of it too! When we left she said "if someone's having a rough day, they should come here to eat! It's so peaceful & the people are so nice!" Which I agree! We'll definitely be stopping in again sometime soon read more

Hadn't been to the Frontier for years but I had fond memories of the place so we stopped in for breakfast after some rando errand running in Hartville. While the business seems to have recently been acquired by someone (now it's Samantha's Frontier) I can tell you they still have one heck of a breakfast! This homey country diner is really quite the gem! I love that the classic brown coffee cups are waiting at your table to be filled, their frustratingly small but ADORABLE water glasses, and cozy lodge-like interior. They had a fantastic array of menu options - both breakfast and lunch and a very long list of specials as well. Their pancakes sounded and looked FANTASTIC but I was feeling eggs and went with an award-winning California omelette with avocado, bacon, turkey, and pepper jack cheese. I like that they offer you a choice of homefries or hashbrowns and of toast which awesomely includes cinnamon raisin. (CINNAMON RAISIN - THE MOST SPECIAL OF ALL THE TOASTS!) I got homefries (delish) and cinnamon raisin toast (for which my enthusiasm shall NEVER pale) and there was REAL BUTTER on my toast and not that fake yellow stuff diners seem to like to put on toast so I stood up and slow clapped all the way back to the kitchen to shake the hand of the chef. (Just kidding, I just ate my cinnamon raisin toast like a totally normal human but probably should have done that other thing.) When I was done adoring my toast I ate my omelette and home fries which were both great. The omelette was very large with a nicely thick but not too thick egg packet encasing its generously stuffed innards of quality meats, avocado, and cheese. The boyfriend also got an omelette (of the corned beef hash variety) and when I stopped blathering on about raisin toast, he mentioned his omelette was 'perfect' as well and that we should return. Came here for the first time for my mother's birthday. It was really good food! The sliced home fries were great! We all got something different. My nephew got the cinnamon swirl French toast and the pieces were huge and thick. It was delicious. I'd never been to this restaurant prior to the switch, so I can't compare, but from what I could hear and see, the regular patrons were pretty upset with the new switches. I got the fried mush. I'm a fanatic-- it's my favorite breakfast food, but I wasn't impressed with their offering. It came with choice of breakfast meat. Boyfriend got the breakfast burrito- choice of meat and came with choice of potatoes. Portion was small, but it tasted good. Pricing was terrible for this area; in Cleveland I'm expecting to pay these prices, but not in small-town Ohio. Service was pretty good, the girls were fumbling a bit because of the new menu, but you can't blame them too much. In the end, I'll probably pick somewhere else to get my "hometown meal." read more

Since the ownership change I have been to Samanthas in Hartville a few times. The restaurant is on a steady decline. This morning was another example. I ordered the steak and eggs, with the steak being the strip rather than country fried. The steak was "starting to turn" as I told the staff. Truth be told, it was beyond turning. Really disgusting. I think this place has the best breakfast for your money in Hartville. It's got a little bit of that small town diner feel to it. My favorite dish is the breakfast bowl. You can get 2 versions of it - one with diced ham or with sausage and gravy. It's also loaded with potatoes, eggs, and cheese in a big bowl. I don't remember the price because I went with guys from work and my boss paid for it but I think it's around $6. You can get a small bowl for under $5. The large bowl is very filling. The coffee is also decent. Usually, I don't really like restaurant coffee but I actually enjoy their coffee. The servers are very friendly. Although I think this is the best restaurant to get breakfast in Hartville, I don't think it's high enough quality to get 5 stars. It has to be pretty amazing for me to give it 5 stars. If you're in the area though, this is where I recommend for breakfast. read more

If you like REAL homemade food, not just "home style" out of the can, this is the place for you. I did not have great expectations when I entered the battered, ancient front door. The restaurant interior is basic homespun neat and clean. Samantha herself brought the menu with daily specials. I ordered the chicken croissant sandwich and vegetable soup, pretty standard American restaurant basics. The surprise came with the meal. The fresh large croissant was overflowing with a unique creamy chicken salad that had lovely bits of orange and walnuts that made a total tasty blend. The cup of soup was totally homemade, no soup base salty off flavors. It was a rich beef broth filled with many kinds of fresh vegetables and chunks of tender beef that could stand alone as a meal itself. It is obvious the meal was lovingly made from scratch. Decent place to go in Hartville for breakfast food with reasonable prices. Good omelets, French toast and pancakes. The only suggestion I'd have for this place is get a water filtration system. The glass of well water was unexpected, so bring some bottled water if you are not used to that. read more

We tried this restaurant for the first time today. I rarely write reviews but the service and overall experience was so bad I felt I had to. I ordered pancakes and a decaf coffee and my husband ordered a basic egg breakfast and asked to have his hash browns extra crispy. Not an overly special request if you ask me. Our breakfasts came out, I never received my coffee and the waitress said "oh she never came around with coffee?" So anyway, I'm pretty easygoing and just waited for it to come around. Hash browns were soggy and definitely not crispy. Then, no one came to see how anything was, never refilled our water, and never came around with coffee until the waitress was dropping off the bill. Ridiculous when our bill totaled $15.00 ($1.75 for a cup of coffee) I was a server for years and I know what good service is. We will not be back. read more

It doesn't take long to figure out that this is the place to be for breakfast in Hartville, especially since The Pantry closed down a while ago. There are a lot of regulars here in the mornings. It's where the locals go. I would say their breakfast is definitely their strong point. Not a huge selection, but everything I've had here has been pretty good. I wouldn't consider myself a coffee connoisseur, but I would say their coffee is above average. Price wise, I would consider them a little bit above average for a breakfast place. Most meals run $1-2 more than the same meal would be at a Denny's or IHOP. I really haven't been here for lunch. Would like to try their bison burger sometime. I do like the laid-back, small town atmosphere. The fireplace adds a nice touch. It seems to be a good place to grab a coffee and chat for an hour or two with a close friend, which is probably why so many people I know meet here for breakfast. All in all, it won't leave you craving for more, but its a solid choice for a good breakfast that isn't too pricey. read more

Very disappointed with terrible service. Arrived at 10:30am Sunday with a party of six. Had out-of-state relatives and wanted to enjoy a nice breakfast together. Apparently they do not follow any kind of order when taking your name and adding you to their list. They seated 5-6 groups of 2-4 people that arrived after we did. Made no attempt to accommodate us and their back half of the restaurant was empty with an adjacent table that would seat 6-8 people. The lights were on in the back half but would not cross the mystical line in an attempt to accommodate their customers that were now waiting 45 minutes. When I complained they said they could not accommodate our party yet, but was able to accommodate the 20 people that arrived after us. No apologies, no attempt to take care of their customers. Appeared to have no leadership or management that knew how to run a restaurant. Lost a local customer for life. read more

My wife and friend took their 18 month old children the today and after waiting far to long for the waitress to bring their order, let the children sit at the booth next to them to eat. The kids played with the salt shaker and jelly packet which should not have been a major issue!!! The owner of the restaurant came over and scolded the children and proceeded to yell at them stating that it is not a playground and is in acceptable. Who yells at 18 months old kids like they have a clue what is going on besides a little bit of fun!!!!My very apologetic wife was trying to explain it was a very small mess and kids have made a mess twice that when we have eaten here numerous times in the past. Embarrassed that the entire restaurant was now staring cause the owners voice was so loud the cleaned up ate and left a nice tip! Here's where I have a problem with this!!! She proceeded to yell at two 18 month old children for touching a few jelly packets and spilling a very minimal amount of salt on the table! What kind of terrible person puts kids welcome on their website then verbally scorns two young children that were by all means behaving very well in public?? I hope family people who read this choose another restaurant because it's quite obvious she doesn't care about her loyal customers like we were!!!! Not to mention publicly embarrasses two adults that were paying customers! I can't believe that my kid was the first to spill a shaker or play with 3 cent jelly Lakers so I hope you are ashamed of your behavior and I hope the patrons who read this choose another place to spend their money!!!! read more

Dined here for the first time on a Friday for dinner..atmosphere was pretty dated, giving the feel of a nursing home. There were a few other elderly couples dining, not terribly busy. Price for most entrees was around $12...appetizers not far behind around $9. Warm dinner rolls were served as we waited on our meals. My husband, my son and I all ordered a different entree...I got the spinach salad with grilled chicken, which was good but I wish there was more of it, it wasn't the biggest thing I've seen. My son ordered the all-American burger with fries and the burger was cooked to perfection and the fries were good but not a very generous portion. My husband ordered a corned beef sandwich with onion rings and he really liked it but finished it within a matter of minutes..not because of how good it was but how small it was. The onion rings were barely even there. He got maybe 4 rings. The service was good and the drink refills were consistent. We all did enjoy our food but left still feeling hungry so I give it 3 stars because I thought the prices were high for the amount of food given. read more
