4 of us went for dinner. 2 "hardcore" vegetarians, 1 "almost and 1 "just a social vegetarian". Appies were Ok. Of course the best stuff was deep fried. The much touted gravy and fries was not as good as the Naam. I guess we like Miso gravy better. All the nut gravies and sauces could have been soo much more nutty and flavourful. Not everything needs to be Chipotle!! Noodle dishes were OK, but typical. Burger was not at all worth the trip. Kale was bitter and super yucky. Even the diehards at the table could not choke it down. When we complained about the kale dish, the server suggested a different sauce. It was still bad and we were charged for the fixer sauce. Not impressed. Plenty of other vegetarian options in this City. read more

Lost a star for charging for a tiny container of chipotle sauce. Fries come with one tiny container and if you ask for another you will not be told that $1 will be added to your bill. The service was so slow for the two of us, and it wasn't busy. We almost left but our server came at the very last second to take our orders. Do you know what it is like to watch other people around you get served and get what they asked for and you just sit there sipping your water, waiting like sitting ducks? It seriously sucked. Just the meet burger is good enough but if you are adventurous I recombine the mac and cheese burger. My fav appetizer is their spinach and artichoke dip! I can't find the words to express my love for this place. The food just hits the perfect spot and I've been dreaming about their Mountain Burger and Stroganoff since the day I had it. I've been a vegetarian for 20 years and have a lot of generic soy-based burgers but this one is different. It's pea-protein based and incredibly succulent. And the Stroganoff is to die for! MeeT is one of my favourite restaurants! Even though I'm not vegan their southern barbecue burger is delicious and their fries are some of the best I've ever had! I highly recommend coming here! Love going to a vegan restaurant and not having vegan food advertised like it's a big thing. The food speaks for itself, and doesn't have to rely on marketing to vegetarians. I haven't had a single thing here that wasn't fantastic. Service can be slow when it's busy, but that is why there is take out. The Server was initially helpful but as soon as I told her my list of allergies, the help stopped there. I ordered the "Little Mountain of Fires" and the "Sunshine Salad". The server assured me that she would make sure I got a fresh batch of fries. Well, the fries I was served looked like they had been sitting around for a while then reheated in the frier, turning them a deep burnt brown and the salad was missing the carrots and beets. Never mind that as the tomatoes and the greens tasted like they had been sitting at the bottom of the refrigerator. Not fresh and crisp as one would expect. Unable to choke down more than two bites of salad, the dish remained on the table for the duration of our stay. After pointing out our darken fries, comparing them to the Neighbours light golden fries, no comp was offered, just another bowl of fries. I took my dad for a lunch here and we were both kind of disappointed for some reason. I would go back and try other things as the reason we went is we're both meat eaters and want to eat a lot less of it. I had a cauliflower appy and he had a loaded burger. I will definitely try again but more for the ethics, not the actual food. I hate to say that, but it's true. The servers were super nice and the environment is fresh and quirky. If you want vegan or vegetarian food that will fool any carnivore, this is the place to go. All the menu items are fantastic, especially the burgers. They have everything a vegan or vegetarian might miss, but won't after they sink their teeth into anything on the menu. Great place! The food is excellent and I have been able to convince stubborn family and friends that you don't need meat for food to taste bloody delicious! My one drawback is that it's quite pricey so I can't go more often and the gluten free burger buns they use now are really terrible. They're mealy and dry and the filling gets squished out because they are too stiff. They had way better ones before. read more

I love the food at Meet. It is amazing. I love that they offer vegan and gluten free. The Angry Burg with the gluten free bun and patty. I thought the customer service was great I would definitely go back. I would have like if they had the AC on when we got there but they did turn it on shortly after. My first trip to this restaurant was with my two meat eating teenagers. Despite the recommendations from others, they were skeptical that one of their mom's vegetarian ideas was going to be any good. We've been back many times since and have tried many things on the menu. We love the vibe, the food, the service, and the specials. There is always something new to try or we go for tried and true favourites, mac and cheese, poutine, cronuts, spinach and artichoke dip and hocus pocus. They have great healthy choices too but we love the vegan comfort food. Meet has become a regular stop on our errand running outings. read more

The operators of this restaurant do not know now how to properly fry food. Tried a cronut at their Main St. restaurant and burger & fries at their Yaletown operation. The cronut was like eating a sponge saturated with oil (squishing out when you bit into it) and the burger was overcooked and over saturated also. The fries looked and tasted like they had been re-fried a dozen times and we only managed to eat around a third before giving up. The deep-fried burger patty had a weird sour flavour which did not fit with the meal. At one point I had to spit out what I was chewing because something tasted off and decided to leave the rest uneaten. The little side salad was the only nice part of the entire meal. Don't get me wrong; I love fried food but this was ridiculously bad! The worst part for me was not the food though but the non-alcoholic beverage choices. I always like to have a nice glass of water handy with a meal so was very disappointed to be served a PLASTIC tumbler full of CHLORINATED water. For a sit down restaurant that serves alcohol, this feels very cheap. The only affordable non-alcoholic bottled item they had on their menu was Phillips root beer which was horrible; it was like drinking clove extract in carbonated water and had no resemblance to root beer. After a few attempts to sip it, I gave up. When I asked if they had any bottled water, the server said the only water they had was their filtered water. Since I had already rejected the chlorinated plastic tumbler presented to me at the start of the meal and since I did not want to spend $12 on a bottle of flavoured kombucha, I was really disappointed by the time the meal was over. They never charged me for the soda but even if they had, I would gladly have paid for some bottled water even if it was something like Canadian Springs from an 18L plastic bottle. My suggestion to the owners is if you can not figure out how to fry food properly, then maybe its time to redesign your menu with non-fried foods that are of better quality and appeal. Either way, for god's sake, offer SPRING water in a GLASS. read more

Very disappointing will never go back to this restaurant. The food took for ever to arrive... the waiter apologized for the delay but that was it. When it finally did arrive we thought it was very very mediocre. We had the burger and you could say that it was a soy patty. We have had such good veggie burgers at other veggie places around the city. But that wasn't the end of it. The burgers come with fries and a salad and for one of the orders of the burger we asked to substitute onion rings which they gladly did and the rings were good.But when the bill arrived they charged $4 for substituting onion rings... really?? are you serious??? and the waiter didn't care to tell us about this when we placed the order, usually most restaurants do. Other than the hot chiggin wings, the pleasant demeanor of the waiter and the ok onion rings (which finally turned out to be quite worthless because of the $4 SURCHARGE) nothing was pleasant about the experience. Oh yes there was almost no wait time and 3 of us were seated in a table for 6... that was it everything else was a rip off for a restaurant that was so noisy. read more

I've been to Meet on Main too many times to count. The food, service and decor are all terrific. The entire menu is vegan which makes me feel like a kid in a candy store but I've found a few dishes that I love so much I end up ordering the same thing every time I go now. Bring friends so you can share! I can't go to Meet without ordering the Not-Cho' Average Nacho Fries with vegan queso sauce, they are ridiculous, at first I thought the cucumber was silliness but now I think it makes the dish. This dish is the perfect combination of fresh, crunchy, saucy and decadence. Then I split the double bacon-double cheezburger and sub Cesar salad for the fries and green salad that normally comes with it. When there's enough people to split the food I like to order the sweet-chili cauliflower and/or hot chiggin' things. Also you must try the coco-cronut, it's a deep fried croissant coated in cinnamon and sugar, filled with coconut cream. I often eat too much and need a lay down after visiting Meet. They have healthier bowls on the menu too if you're interested. I've also visited the new Gastown location and everything was just as great at the original Main St location. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they will try serving brunch again because the portobello benny was pretty darn good. read more
