What better time to unwrap the gift of a tamale than heading into the New Year. The order came with reheating and freezing instructions. The masa is light and the chicken is fresh and high-quality. The perfect comfort food to add spice and warmth to a Chiago winter! Unfortunately, after hearing so much good feedback I decided to try them for myself. Sadly, they were a poor in substance and taste. And sadly his business didn't survive Covid. But he's reopened at another place on Diversey and Richmond between Sacramento and California out of a bar called Quality Time. I want to thank the bartender Dan or Stan(?) for helping me with my order. I ordered one dozen red tamales and a half-dozen chicken tamales. Complimentary salsa was given. Although the flavor for both tamales was good. Presentation had a lot to be desired in order for them to a true wrapped tamale. The filling on both at times were leaking from the side, as if the masa (cornmeal dough) wasn't completely covering the filling. And what's with the one single chintzy corn husk wrapping? I like that they didn't have a lot of masa covering the meat. But they were somewhat sloppy. And update your prices on your tamales since I was charged $12.00 per half-dozen instead of the $11.00 listed on your website. Or notify the customer of the price increase. One more thing, that salsa was very watery. Would I return, I don't know. The jury is still out on this one. But I might go back to the bar and try a special drink that was being offered and depend on how it went down. might order just a half dozen. I am going to check out a new establishment on Harlem Avenue near Addison, that sells tamales. And compare them to yours. The winner gets my return visits. The flavor was almost there, but packaging had a lot to be desired.

Some say, if you order at the ghost kitchen directly, pricing is better than going through the many, delivery apps. Delivery apps are known to add on additional service charges and some percentage of increase on food to boot. Are they bad-ass? It's something very American by meshing tater tots with meat and cheese. I've never been a huge fan tbh. The idea would have been stellar in my 20s but today, not as much. If they could season and sautée the tots before adding them to the burrito, it could be fire. As is, I imagine a food line with ingredients and employees simply going one to the other. The way the ingredients are added to the burrito is simple & basic. Care isn't taken to spread the ingredients across the tortilla prior to wrapping so there will be concentrations of components as if it's all lumped together. The side sauces are basic. Something mayo based and a hot sauce that is vinegar based. Nice of them to include with your purchase but if you have other options in your pantry you'll certainly want something else. *In this vicinity are Spanish grocery which make their own salsas. I had first come across Man vs Fries earlier this year when I was walking down Pulaski and saw a random food truck stationed in an obscure parking lot. I saw the sign touting this place, but apparently you have to order the food through a third-party delivery service so I did not try to stop by and check out the menu. Today my love wanted to check 'em out thanks to the lure of an Uber Eats deal. Our order was delivered to our doorstep within the promised timeframe. The sealed delivery bag had an "order accuracy card" printed on it, which prompts the order taker to put everything in the bag correctly (good idea!). We were psyched by the heft and size of the two food items that we ordered. More importantly we were both impressed by the flavors of our food. While da kool kids seem to like choosing Flamin' Hot Cheetos or Doritos as a burrito filling, we stuck with more standard ingredients. My Cali Crunch was a large disc-shaped wrap, with a flour tortilla encasing chicken, lettuce, tomato, cheese, onions, cilantro, guacamole, ranch sauce, and a tostata to supply the crunch as advertised. My love went with the NorCal Burrito, a "big as your head" burrito with carne asada, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, secret sauce, and also fries inside. We each received a cup of queso sauce, which added a nice zingy flavor to our meal.

The first thing to note about our timely delivery was the weight of the bag! It was a heavy, well-packaged meal that we could hardly wait to bust into for today's lunch. My NorCal Burrito was magnificent. Far too much to consume in one sitting (never a bad thing!), but given its hearty composition, I am confident my other half will warm up well this evening. I found the plentiful amount of carne asada meat to be bursting with flavor. Every bite was scrumptious. Additionally, the Cali Crunch was a swing and a hit for my husband. Though I really enjoyed the meal, I live in an area with a profusion of amazing locally owned eateries, and I am not a fan of food that is only available through delivery partners. For this reason, I cannot say I'd be a return customer. I appreciate that the logistics associated with affording customers the ability to order directly would change their business model. That said, it's a bummer that one cannot simply walk up and order.

I decided to order the breakfast burrito without chorizo, subbing cheddar for the mozzarella that comes on it. Sidebar: mozzarella is an insane choice for cheese for a burrito. My partner ordered the avocado toast with no eggs and a side of fruit. Our food took a while to come out, which I found surprising given that the place wasn't packed. Maybe they were also doing their meal prep stuff? When it arrived, I was taken aback by how much cheese was in the burrito. It seemed like half the filling was cheese! Just too much for me. The menu said it came with homemade salsa, but as far as I can tell it just had diced onions and bell peppers and therefore needed more flavor. However the side of potatoes was perfect. Really well seasoned. The avocado toast was fine, but had a pretty strong citrus flavor that was overpowering. The prices are a bit high, but considering the cost of food and that they use high quality ingredients it's not surprising. I was hoping they'd give me a slight discount for making my burrito vegetarian but no such luck.
