Went to Mughal The Biryani House for my mom's birthday and overall it was a really nice experience. The place itself is super cute and has an upscale vibe, which made it perfect for a special occasion. They're also great at accommodating large groups, which was a big plus for us. Service was good throughout the night staff was attentive and everything came out pretty smoothly. For the food, it was a bit hit or miss for me. I didn't really care for the curries, but some dishes definitely stood out. The dynamite shrimp was really good, the fish was flavorful, and the masala dosa was a favorite. 12/13/24 - This is the second time I've been to Mughal The Briyani House. I met my 3 former colleagues (we're all retired architects) here for our semi annual lunch. The food was excellent just like the first time. I wrote a review before but somehow Mughal had 2 Yelp pages and one got deleted w/my previous post. Mughal is located on the NE corner of Northwest highway & Touhy in Park Ridge. The food is remarkable & the best Indian Food I ever had. Now I don't claim to be an expert on Indian Cuisine, but I know what I like & to my palette their food is outstanding. Mughal is a nice restaurant, but the service is a little odd. You come in & no one greets you. They give you a menu & disappear to the back. Not being very knowledgeable about the different dishes is a bit confusing & overwhelming. The menu has a fairly large selection of food items but no description of what the dish is or what's in it. Two things that would help is to elaborate on the food items and give a written description of what's in the dish. Not everyone is familiar with Indian cuisine & what goes into the dish When it comes time to order there is a white square pad w/around button that serves as a call button summoning the server. Please print new menus that elaborate & tell the diner what the dish is and what the ingredients are in the dish & maybe have a little more interaction w/the diners & server. Good and unique biryani. Pretty big portion of it. Moist and well-flavored rice. Very spicy though; I'll have to ask not to make it so hot next time. But maybe that's the only way it'll taste that good, I dunno. I've had biryani in quite a few places in more than one "western" country and this is a very memorable place. read more

Had lunch on a quiet Saturday - place was very understaffed- our server forgot to plate appetizers and it took an hour to get any food - the food it self was fine - the naan was microwaved but the rest of the food was good. The service made the experience poor read more

Come here for the tava fry fish! We stopped by for lunch and really enjoyed the fish fry which was pompano btw (favourite fish growing up). Perfect blend of spices for this one. We also got the Hyderabadi biryani and that was good too! Recommend coming here for some great fish fry! read more

Wanted to grab dinner before a flight, and stumbled upon this restaurant. We were greeted and seated quickly, service was great. We got the mango lassi (), chicken 65 biryani, and veggie samosas. Everything was so delicious and the portions are huge! I could eat my leftovers for the next two days if I wanted to! Idk the names of the sauces, but the sweeter one that comes with the samosas is sooo good! I didn't realize how spicy the cuisine is, but that sauce pairs amazingly! read more

On the way back from a trip, we were craving Indian food for dinner. So we called in an order from the airport for pick up. The owner is always nice when you call the restaurant. We ordered the butter paneer, chili chicken, rice and garlic naan. Food review: Butter Paneer - The dish was good but needed more spice and the paneer cubes need to be much smaller. I've never seen cubes this size before. Chili Chicken - This dish was delicious and flavorful. The chicken was cooked well. Overall, the food wasn't bad but I would like to try more dishes before giving this restaurant a 5-star. read more

Love this place! Open until midnight, and actually serving food late, unlike other restaurants in the area that claim to be open, but serve nothing but drinks. The biryani is the best I have ever had, and I have had it here several times (the goat and chicken biryanis). Dosa is awesome. Don't expect fast service, but everything is fresh. If you describe exactly what you want or what you don't like, the wait, staff is very good at directing you. For example, if you want a dish that features meat, you might want to specify whether you want a lot of meat, or just a little to accent your rice, and whether you want bone-in or not. If you tell them what your dietary restrictions are, they will work with you as well. One point I needed, gluten-free food, and they were very accommodating. read more

What a shame - the food is good here but after waiting 90 minutes for my take out -the order got pushed back another 45 minutes. These guys don't have a handle on things and do a worse job of setting expectations - a simple "we are really busy" so I knew to order somewhere else would have kept me coming back - now - Ill never eat here again. read more

I'm far from an expert on Indian cuisine, but my husband and I recently had an excellent meal here. We started with an order of garlic naan and an appetizer of chili chicken. The chili chicken was crispy and included pieces of red and green pepper. Our very helpful waiter suggested that we try mild seasoning, which still gave us enough heat, without setting our faces on fire. I had chicken tikka masala and my husband had lamb in a coconut curry sauce. Again, we selected mild seasoning, which was perfect for us. Our entrees were accompanied by jasmine rice. My chicken included large meaty chunks which were tasty and the sauce was delicious. I had enough leftover to take home for lunch. My husband enjoyed his lamb. We had no room for dessert this time, but will make sure to leave room for it next time. The restaurant has a spacious feel and large windows overlooking Touhy. Relaxing instrumental music was playing, which made the space feel intimate. Definitely make a reservation if you're dining on a Friday or Saturday as we saw walk-ins turned away because the restaurant was at capacity. read more
