I decided to order the breakfast burrito without chorizo, subbing cheddar for the mozzarella that comes on it. Sidebar: mozzarella is an insane choice for cheese for a burrito. My partner ordered the avocado toast with no eggs and a side of fruit. Our food took a while to come out, which I found surprising given that the place wasn't packed. Maybe they were also doing their meal prep stuff? When it arrived, I was taken aback by how much cheese was in the burrito. It seemed like half the filling was cheese! Just too much for me. The menu said it came with homemade salsa, but as far as I can tell it just had diced onions and bell peppers and therefore needed more flavor. However the side of potatoes was perfect. Really well seasoned. The avocado toast was fine, but had a pretty strong citrus flavor that was overpowering. The prices are a bit high, but considering the cost of food and that they use high quality ingredients it's not surprising. I was hoping they'd give me a slight discount for making my burrito vegetarian but no such luck. I'm open to trying it again for lunch or dinner given the other stellar reviews, but I wasn't wowed this first time out. read more

Went here thinking it was just a cafe to work from, but was pleasantly surprised that it was a hybrid between cafe and restaurant. Plenty of seating and well lit area. This place is wonderful. Good food, good ambiance, and even better service from staff. My friends and I came here for dinner and ended up staying after to play a few rounds of UNO. Our waiter, Luis, is very pleasant and attentive. He went the extra mile to make us feel welcome. As we were playing cards, he even jokingly said, free ice cream for the winner. I didn't take it seriously, but he did indeed keep his word and brought out a delicious bowl of strawberry ice cream for the winner (which was me ). Joseph, who I believe is the manager, checked in to say hello and ask about the service, which we happily replied, "great!". I've never been treated so well at an establishment. Now on the the food! I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, my friends order Breaded to Perfection, and Chicken Milanese. Every dish was delicious, the chicken was juicy, and the portions are large. We have been meaning to try this place for a while. We had lunch (turkey burger and smash burger) and it was delicious. It came with fries and a side salad. Wish there were a few more fries but at the end of the meal we were all full. We did see the protein bowls and will definitely try that on our next visit. Also enjoyed a bloody mary with crispy bacon which did not disappoint. Very flavorful. Prices are very reasonable and a nice atmosphere. The only complaint I have (and the one thing preventing me from giving a full five-star rating): the door between the indoor dining room and the patio was left open, leaving us on the inside to swat away bugs while we were eating. Ordered the fried calamari and it was played beautifully on top of a salad we could eat too! I had some of their fried chicken breast and it was so juicy and delicious. I couldn't decide on what side to get so the server brought me all 3! They were all so good and I'm glad I got to try all of them. Then I had a breaded chicken breast with rice pilaf and a small salad and my friends had a chicken sandwich and a chicken Caesar wrap. We were all very happy pleased with what we ordered. We also appreciated the great service we got from Arturo. The reason I'm only giving 4 stars is that it took an abnormally long time for our food to come out even though there were only a few other tables of patrons. Had lunch and ordered the Steak Protein Bowl for $17. It was super delicious and yet pretty healthy. My friend had the breakfast wrap and said it was ok but was slightly less enthusiastic. The service was friendly and attentive. Background music was not obtrusive (By comparison, Honey Bear's music is horribly loud and overwhelming). Prices seem comparable to similar restaurants. I left with leftovers for a 2nd meal. I'd return. Menu seems limited especially compared to a place like Honey Bear. Bryn Mawr neighborhood could use a place with more basic diner-style mainstays on the menu like eggs/bacon/toast or I'll keep going to Cozy Corner for their specials. Of course, diners don't offer $175 tomahawk steaks. So not sure what niche they intend to fill. read more

So I had pancakes, steak & eggs with potatoes(I was starving) this is a great location for the restaurant, sliding glass windows on the Winthrop side and very comfortable and laid back atmosphere, back to the food, pancakes nice and fluffy but not to fluffy(just right) eggs were great along with the potatoes, now the steak, medium well, it was fantastic, my lady who doesn't eat red meat tried and liked and had a second piece, oh, she had the chicken caesar wrap and chia seed pudding, and those were good as well and our server was on point no problems substituting or adding to your eating experience. Will be going back very soon to many things on the menu that I have to try. Bottom line there are not many restaurants in this area, and I for one will support these guys because I can walk less than a half a block, sit and have a good meal at a great location. The space seems nice and chill. Got there Sunday morning and it was not too crowded. The server took my order, got me coffee. 45 minutes elapsed and none of the 2 waiters, or my server, came around despite the restaurant only being half full. I flagged down a waiter, and he didn't know what was going on. The Maitre D said "I don't really know what's going on. but we'll comp you your coffee" as I was leaving. Might give this place a 2nd chance, but I expect I will have to follow up to see where my food is. read more

Ny neighborhood has not had a traditional American food restaurant near by , for years. I mean a place where I can get the american style breakfast. This place is opening next week but on Friday they were practicing as restaurants do. I went im and ordered eggs, potatoes and toast like I have been wanting for a long time. I use a walker and it was not worth traveling to get this simple meal. The waitress, I think her name was Sylvia (?) was friendly and when I asked about the potatoes as they are important to my brealfast, told me that she had them for breakfast. I ordered them and they were exactly as well done as I love, the eggs were picture perfect and the toast was sour dough. This is a place that we have needed for a while. I think it is becoiming my Wednesday breakfast place, I reccomend that you try it and see if it is as good as I think it is. Leave a message and tell me your thoughts. Ambitious dinner menu implies fine dining but execution is casual. Two of us had a full dinner including Tomahawk steak total was almost $250 no alcohol (its BYOB). Could have gone to Mortons, Gibsons etc for that price but wanted to support dining in my neighborhood. Steak was high quality but sliced in the kitchen which left it slightly undercooked contrasted by a heavy char. Still it had great taste, worth it. Bacon dates, mushroom, onions and potato sides are unremarkable compared to the caliber of entree. No bread for the table and modest desserts left us confused and BYOB corkage fee was $7.50 per glass on the bill. Service competent but inexperienced not the best match to full service dining I would expect. I might return for more casual food like salads or pastas the other diners' meals looked promising and prices were reasonable. read more

We loved this place. We were staying in the neighborhood and ended up coming here multiple times for breakfast and dinner. The coffee is excellent (and we are coffee snobs from Seattle). The breakfast was simple enough that you didn't have to order something rich and heavy but creative twists so that the dishes were all interesting. We had their fluffy pancakes one morning and they were the best I have ever tasted. The eggs were cooked to perfection and the sides were tasty . The dinner we had was also excellent - chicken breast that was cooked moist and tender (a rarity in most restaurants). I also had their octopus appetizer (unusual for chicago I think) and it was both tender and nicely spiced and flavored. The ambiance was relaxed and warm and the service was attentive, warm and friendly. Was a place you can just settle into. I didn't have their breakfast pastries so can't speak to those. Hope they make it because it is a great neighborhood restaruant- would love to have a restaurant like this within walking distance of my home! read more

So when "All Meal Prep" opened in the former Nookie's location, I decided to give it a try. I went for breakfast, and WOW!, what a great experience! A very healthy breakfast menu, which included some creative items, as well as usual standbys, made a very positive first impression on me. I ended up ordering an AMP omlette, which came with roasted new potatoes and a small vinaigrette side salad. I also ordered their home-made sourdough bread toast, which was extra, but well worth it! In addition to a robust breakfast printed menu, if you want something but don't see it, ask the server. Chances are they just might have it. In addition to the great healthy food, the atmosphere is very relaxing and conducive to enjoying a great meal experience. What a fantastic addition to the Edgewater Beach neighborhood! read more
