Lastly, and this isn't really on the restaurant, but while I was waiting for my food there was this one loud table of men talking about politics that just made the vibe of this place undesirable. I think people should be able to talk about whatever they want, but be a little courteous to the others in the room with you. Not everyone is a MAGA fanboy. This place really changed and its unfortunate. Used to be one of the best spots for cali-burrito in town, emphasis on "used to be." The outside part was starting to harden like it was getting stale so I guess it was baked at least a day ago. Cake had a mostly mild flavor. I didn't taste the pineapple though the top was lined with it. I did taste a ton of ginger flavor. It appears pieces of ginger were mixed in with the pineapple. I love ginger as part of soy/ginger seasoning for fish but not in a cake. This is one of the worst pineapple upside down cakes I have had. My favorite is at Roy's where you have to give them 30 minute notice and they bake it to order. Roy's version was piping hot out of the oven, was moist and fluffy, with amazing pineapple flavor. Staff provided fast and friendly service.

The chili is my absolute favorite and it's offered daily! Absolute yum with shredded cheese and chopped red onion. Also love... the tiny cookies that are included with your sandwich! Usually a small chocolate chip, but if you get a full sandwich, a chocolate chip and snickerdoodle cookie! The sandwich shop is tucked into an industrial park complex. Small tables inside the shop and several small tables outside. Usually you can find parking. They're not open on the weekends, and during the week, only until 2pm. So apparently you can't yelp this deli without having the manager / owner / district manager in your face about it. After receiving a horrible experience and talking to the manager who claims all three titles, I went in for a sandwich and sure enough he got in my face and began talking rather reckless telling me how I don't have a right to "put those things" on his profile. Excuse me????? Is this Yelp referring to our experiences or no? So this guy goes on and on and on and then had the audacity to bring my husband into the conversation!!!! My husband was not present for my egregious visit at this gas station / deli so why bring him into it? This manager wants his 5 stars and will go to any length to get it including harassing customers. He is as unprofessional as his staff. Ladies I advise you to be very careful with this character. The inside of the suite looked like a cafeteria with several tables and countertop seating along a set of windows. Breakfast is served from 7 to 11 am and then lunch is available from 11 am to 3 pm. I visited during lunch hour to pick up a couple of sandwiches to go. You could build your own sandwich or select from over a dozen specialty sandwiches. Wraps, specialty burgers, salads, and soups were the other categories. Many of the items were named after San Diego landmarks or neighborhoods. I picked two specialty sandwiches which were sold by the half or whole (my choice). Prices ranged as low as $7.49 for a half to as high as $14.99 for a whole. The TOPGUN was my first selection that had ingredients of tuna salad, alfalfa sprouts, cheese, avocado, and cucumber. Wheat and provolone were my options for the bread (toasted) and cheese respectively. The USS Midway Torpedo was my second selection that was made up of dry salami, genoa salami, ham, provolone cheese, and Italian dressing on a fresh French roll. Both sandwiches were dressed with the works (lettuce, tomatoes, onion, mustard, and mayonnaise). A dill pickle spear was also included with each item.
