Located off the beaten path on a road that needs re paving, is a sub shop with a lot of potential. It is hard to miss driving by with little signage and next to an unassuming salon. The staff is friendly, but not very happy or at least the day I visited. The food was good and I will come back. When leaving, my sub fell through the bottom of my brown paper bag. Like I said, lots of potential, but with a little more welcoming staff and more reliable bags, I would have been able to rate this establishment higher. read more

I love going to this place for lunch! Everything they make here is fantastic, and the two women who run the place are always so kind and friendly. This lil shop is located in the industrial part of Kearny Mesa in San Diego and came here based upon my other yelpers' reviews. I can tell you for the sandwiches, we were not disappointed. I viewed the menu online prior to making my entrance through the door. This shop has a small parking lot shared with others in the complex, as well as street parking - but like everywhere first come first served. It seems like a lot of locals ventured here and pre-order their food. I noticed a soup special menu upon entering the door. I ordered the tomato basil for my SO, however and unfortunately he did not quite like it much. I didn't think it was too bad, wasn't great but okay. He was hoping to dip his sandwich in the soup. Otherwise our sandwiches were fully stocked with avocado and chicken and did I mention delicious? the bread comes from the California Baking Company and their bread is super delicious! I even went the healthier route and ordered a wheat - it was the best wheat I have tasted in a long time. Accordingly, the sandwiches are about $10+- depending on what you order. They have bottled beverages in the cold cases and offer some cold salads (potato salad etc.) in half pint containers. We will definitely be back to try other sandwiches as it was all made fresh and super delicious! While my Tourmaline turkey sandwich (sub the cheddar for swiss) was fresh and tasted good, it was just missing the extra something special to really take it to the next level. Personally, I think it would benefit from a higher quality mustard than basic yellow. I didn't realize until after I ordered that I forgot to ask what type of mustard they carry. The young lady was cashier and accommodated my request for pastrami, egg, avo & jack on a croissant no problem, as it was not on the menu. I appreciate that - immensely. Didn't add any crazy upcharges either, so that's nice. I also appreciate that they made it on the grill and not in the microwave (yes, apparently some ma n pa places do that. Lit'l Pepper Gourmet is one of them) and my food was HOT. Only thing I would have changed is putting a little more pastrami. I won't knock em for it tho cuz their price was reasonable. Most people will call in their orders to come and pick it up to make it more convenient. Whereas Subway you can walk in and pretty much get your order in a minute or two most of the time this place will at least take around 5 to 10 minutes per sandwich, one of the reasons is I believe they put out a great product and they take their time to make sure that it looks as good as it tastes. Most of their sandwiches are around $5-$7, from there you can choose to grab a drink or get some chips which will be extra, I do not believe that there is a actual combo, you pretty much choose your sandwich and get the extras add additional charge for whatever price they have chosen.
