I was in this area on business for the week and found this small little deli on the first day. I've been eating here everyday for lunch since. There's no beating the fresh sandwiches here. The lunch crowd can get busy and there's only one lady who does it all, so do both of you a favor and get there early or after the crowd. She's truly amazing though. I stopped here for a sandwich during my work day and am happy I did. I ordered the vegetarian sandwich and it was great! Full of fresh veggies and good flavors. This place is a little hole in the wall and I'd definitely come back for a lunchtime sando in the future! The deli was a little busy when I went but the woman nicely communicated how long she estimated it would be until I got my order, which I appreciated. For the most part I got a sandwich here and it tasted pretty good. The only issue I have (as pointed out by a few other reviews) is the sandwich was made by the lady here bare handed. She also picked up the phone in the middle of making the sandwich and went from touching the phone to the ingredients. Cross contamination? I mean I didn't get sick or anything afterward but...I'd prefer some disposable gloves myself like a regular sandwich shop uses. read more

I love coming here when I'm in the mood for a sandwich. My to go to is the a Ham & Swiss sandwich with everything except tomatoes and mustard on a whole wheat bread. I get that almost every time with the exception of this week where I ordered the sandwich along with the small cup of chili. It was the first time in my life tasting chili mainly due to the finger scare at Wendys back in the day. Full of flavor and was the soup of the day. I also scored the last bit of it. Yung is a one woman show, taking in orders by phone and in person and finishing them pretty fast. The more often you go, the more she will end up remembering your order. I think she already pegged me for the ham sandwich order which I get every time. I used to go in to order but recently I've been calling in. The food was good and the lady there was kind. My biggest complaint was the sanitary issues. She went from giving someone change to making my food, no gloves or handwashing. I was so nervous I was going to get sick; almost didn't eat my food. I'm surprised she hasn't updated her sanitary practices especially since many reviews have noted this. Solid hole in the wall type of sandwich spot! The entrance is very hidden and surround by offices. I've only been here once, but my sandwich was quite tasty. My only complaint is how long it takes to order and get your food. But that's because there was only one woman running the show and doing everything. I work really close to this place and out of all the delis around, this is by far the best. This place has a lot of great food to try out. There are a variety of sandwiches, which can be ordered as a wrap for the people that want to cut out the carbs. If sandwiches aren't your thing, then try out the daily lunch specials. For such a little shop, there is a wide range of choices. If you're around the area early enough, the breakfast menu is pretty good as well. The lady that works behind the counter is amazing. She is the sweetest lady you'll ever meet. If you go there enough, she remembers your name and also tends to remember your voice if you order ahead of time over the phone. I stopped in with my coworkers today during lunch and it wasn't busy at all. There's a reason for that. The atmosphere inside is strange to say the least. It's not dirty inside, but it is cluttered. And the seating reminds me of an office that had gone into liquidation 20 years ago and all of their swivel chairs ended up at this deli. I ordered Young's sub, which was turkey, roast beef, ham, provolone, pepperocino's, the usual LTO and condiments. I was really impressed with their prices; less than $7 for my sandwich, which I feel was cheap for the area. The sandwich was blah. Nothing special. All I could taste was the mustard. What really grossed me out (all of us actually), is that the woman preparing them didn't bother to change gloves between picking up the phone and making the food. In fact, she never put gloves on at all! Disgusting. But we were starving and short on time so we sucked it up. So bottom line, don't bother. Small mom and pop shop in the middle of a business park. In fact, they're right next to MiTel's SD office. Shop is clean and the asian lady who works there is friendly and cheerful. Just started a new job in the area and while training I wanted to check out some local lunch spots. This place is tucked away in a commercial building. The tables are quaint and theres seating for about 20 if it was packed. I got a California club with chips and a snapple. Yung was behind the counter making sandwiches after sandwiches while ringing people up and answering phones. I only waited 4 minutes at lunch rush times and the prices were under 6$ for a huge fresh sandwich. Talked to Yung and she said shes been there 10 years. Wow. This place is really as good as it gets for a quick lunch while at work in Clairemont. Some tips: The sandwiches are great, the specials are great. CALL AHEAD if at all possible. Her lunch hour is very busy and you can wait in line for most of your lunch break. Best sandwich I think is the valley melt: Turkey, corned beef and all the fixings on sourdough.
