On my last trip, the bus driver 1) talked on a cell phone (without a hands-free device) because a passenger asked him to talk to her friend; 2) almost hit a person pulling out of a parking lot (prompting him to shout, 'Oh shit'); 3) played music on all of the bus speakers throughout the ride; 4) stopped and bought a soda ten minutes from our destination; and (5--the whopper) BACKED UP on the SHOULDER of the highway, while traffic was whizzing by. Apparently, he missed an exit. I was going to give it three stars, because, hey, it's cheap. But I started fuming again when I wrote this! Also, it lies. You buy a ticket from D.C. to NYC, and that means a stop in "White Marsh, Md." and a stop in New Jersey to switch drivers. Cheap. But weird. read more

I Love megabus! It's so cheap and the buses have free wifi and a bathroom.They have outlets on the bus, so no worries about dying laptops, droids or iphones. :) My favorite part was that I got a double decker and got to see trip in a whole new view! Sometimes you can even get a trip for $1!! How awesome is that? This location in dc is awesome they have a parking lot and an organized system with separate lines for each destination. This location also has a lot of departure options such as Philly, NYC, Boston and toronto. So far I've used it for Philly, Boston tomorrow, buffalo ny two weeks from now, toronto next month and NYC in the near future! I'm a big megabus fan! Prices cannot be beat! Quality is great. The .50 cent booking fee is nothing and the change fee is a $1 I think an 24 hrs before and $5 on the spot. near union station metro. Big fan ride megabus now! The worst costumer service I have ever experienced! Trip to DC from Philadelphia. The bus broke down in Baltimore on the side of the freeway. We had to wait for three and a half hours! The driver had no information about what was going on and would not allow us to leave the bus or open the windows. We eventually did because the heat was unbearable and this caused the driver to get into several heated discussions with other passengers. I had originally paid extra to change my ticket in order to leave Philly early and arrive to DC at 9p.m. I got to DC at 12:30 a.m. They won't refund your ticket, they only offered to compensate us with half of our ticket in Megabus credit. Like we would consider riding with them again. Several passengers missed their flights and trains, it is not a trustworthy transportation. read more

People have horror stories about Megabus, but I've got no complaints from my recent trip from DC to New York. I paid extra to get one of the front row, upper level seats, and it was awesome. The leg room leaves a lot to be desired, but I loved the vantage point, and also being able to pick my seat and not worry about getting there early. It's the first time I've taken a bus from Union Station, and the whole operation was easy and clear. The ride took forever, but that's because we left DC at 4pm and hit horrible Baltimore rush hour traffic. But we left on time, the driver was courteous, and the bus was clean. Oddly, we stopped to pick up passengers north of Baltimore (a surprise to me) but it only added a few minutes to our trip. read more

This is my second time booking with Mega bus and they fail every single time to leave at the appropriate time. I booked the 8:00 AM bus for a reason, there was no reason for a delay. Why are we just now leaving for the destination at 8:24 when we had a 8:00 AM trip?? Worse EVER, at least the Chinese buses are punctual. read more

The pros absolutely outweigh the cons! The routes are generally on time, but a piece of advice is the later riutes are going to hit traffic and run slighty to considerably later. So its best to take the early, or late evening routes to ensure a more prompt departure. Now that staff, that's a whole different ball game.... they are generally kids, so, what you can you say,.. we are paying 13 bucks for a trip.. if you want better staff, sure, they can charge us 130 a trip. I feel the service we get for what we pay for is legit, thus I give it 4 stars and a stamp of approval. Just keep low expectations.. in that you will get from point A to B with little to no service with a smile. read more

As a post-collegiate with significant student loan debt, I can't afford Amtrak for my visits to the folks and I don't trust the Chinatown buses. I used to take Vamoose, which I love, but needed a cheaper alternative which is how I came to Megabus. The positives, yes it is cheap, I have ridden for free before. And if I need to book a ticket last minute, I can usually find a bus. The only drawback to Bolt is that they sell out fast. The negatives. They constantly moved there stop locations but don't bother to update the info on the ticket or website, meaning that arriving at the stop 15 minutes early as suggested only to discover that the bus stop is now several blocks away. Additionally, I was made to ride standby and had to pay for a change of reservation fee, which I could not do in cash. I usually bring my iPad when I travel, but for some reason I can never connect to the WiFi on the Megabus, I never have this problem on Bolt or at any other location for that matter. Finally, the buses are rarely if ever on time, I have waited 2+ hours for a bus to show up with no explanation at all. Obviously you get what you pay for, but if I can at all avoid it, I don't use Megabus. read more

More of a 2.5 here. As plenty of others have said, Megabus is far from the best or even a good bus line. Right now I'm writing from a bus, but am not using the wifi because it is laughably slow/spotty. Dial-up would be 50x faster and I remember those days. Additionally I tried 3 different outlets and non of them work, naturally. The bus left at least 10 minutes late, which isn't that bad compared to other stories and in my lucky experiences they are seldom very late. The a/c works fine right now, but at least twice before it hasn't. The price is comparable to other new bus lines but the services provided are shoddy at best. What else should you expect from a bus line still part of the greyhound company? Ooh, we'll compete with the others too since our monopoly of overpriced crappy service is starting to lose! No wonder all the other lines are always busier. Basically, if you have any other good choices (I didn't for this route in the northeast/midatlantic) never choose megabus. Better than a crazy chinatown bus, less expensive than a standard greyhound or train, but the worst of the new buses. read more

#Megabus is the worst bus service, EVER. Every time I rode Megabus from Washington, D.C. to Hampton, VA and back, it was late. When I say late, I don't mean five or ten minutes. I'm talking at least an hour. The last time I rode Megabus, I was leaving Hampton, VA to go back to Washington, D.C. The bus didn't leave because the bus driver couldn't get it backed out. There was something mechanically wrong with the bus and the bus driver attempted to "reset it," but a new bus didn't come for hours later. I took Megabus for the first time ever from DC to Durham, NC. I was very impressed with how everything worked. Bus was loaded in an orderly fashion in DC and left exactly on time. Ended up arriving in Durham 40 minutes before the time listed on the schedule. Total ride time was approximately 4 1/2 hours. Coming back I had the same experience. I'm very glad Megabus started up this DC-Durham service. Amtrak going south is a complete joke, takes at least 7 hours and is fairly expensive. Flying from DC to RDU is expensive and doesn't save you that much time when you factor in the time getting to the airport, going through security and waiting to board. Megabus takes about the same time it would to drive, but at a fraction of the cost due to the high cost of gas these days. The only minor issues I have is that that bus stop in DC is in somewhat of an inconvenient area. I heard it used to be very close to the Gallery Place metro stop, but now it's about 3-4 blocks north of Union Station so it's kind of a pain to walk that if you are carrying bags. At least they offer a shuttle from the stop to Union Station in the evening. Lastly, I found that the seats offer very minimal leg room, but you can't really complain about that considering the price you pay. All in all, I will definitely use Megabus again when I have to travel from DC to North Carolina. read more

I took Megabus about a month ago and had a terrible experience. I always write to the company I have a problem first to see if I can resolve my issues with them, but Megabus did not even respond. Thought I would share my email since Megabus obviously doesn't care: "Hello, Last Friday, I traveled from New York to Virginia and was appalled by the state of the buses. I had not contacted before now because I assumed Megabus would have contacted the passengers and issued an apology without prompting. Our bus was supposed to leave at 1pm, but did not leave until 1:40. We had to wait in the direct sunlight with no explanation when we asked what was going on. Then, once on the bus we were told that the bus was inspected before departure in the safety video, and yet we had only been traveling for around 15 mins when the air conditioning stopped working. This might not seem serious, but on a full bus with no open windows, the heat was suffocating and I felt extremely light-headed. We pulled over at a rest stop and had to wait there for a new bus to arrive and to transfer all the luggage from one bus to the other. Believe it or not, our next bus (DD043) was even worse. About two hours into the trip, an alarm sound starting beeping and did not stop for a half an hour. My friend and I moved to the back of the bus where we couldn't hear the alarm. About 10 mins later, we felt a thud and the bus started slowing down on the highway. Immediately, cars started honking all around us and then the bus driver announced that we experienced engine failure. The bus came to a complete stop on the highway and we thought we would have to wait for a new bus again. However, after being at a standstill on the highway for about five mins, the bus driver tried turning on the bus again, and with frightening screeching noises and thuds, it turned on. We were able to drive for about five mins until the engine cut out again. For the last hour of our trip to Virginia, this was the frightening way we made it home. 'Terrifying' does not amply explain the rest of the trip- the driver would blast the horn and race through red lights so the bus' engine would not cut out if we stopped. We did not get home until two and a half hours after when we were supposed to arrive. I am disgusted with Megabus and the way you treat your passengers. I have always appreciated Megabus' cheap prices and recommended Megabus to others, but cheap ticket prices are not worth the danger we were put it. I took pictures of damages on the Megabuses we were on (e.g. air conditioning vent precariously hanging down over the people sitting next to us). Worst experience ever on a bus. I decided to give Megabus a try and the seats I reserved and paid extra for were 1. cramped 2. Slippery. So slippery the people sitting across from us had their knees in our crotches and we all slipped so many times that when we finally made it to DC none of us could stand up straight and had immense back pain. Thank you Megabus! I still didn't complain!!!! I called to get different seats for my return trip and explained to them everything going on. They hung up when asked for a supervisor, then again wanted to charge me a fee for changing the seats. Really??? Then they hung up again after I again asked for a supervisor. I will never use them again, especially when there are so many options in the competition, but I will make sure everyone hears my experience so that hopefully I save a few poor souls the physical pain and a couple bucks. read more

Megabus pretty much treats the customer like crap. 1. Most recent issue: I was charged $5 for trade and booking fees even though the ticket I was trading in was $4 more than the one I was getting. 2. They're usually late. 3. I once arrived to the bus stop 10 minutes early. Asked the driver if it's the 1 PM to Philadelphia. They told me it's the 12:50 PM. I figured if they specified a different time it's not my bus. They drive away around 12:52 PM. Turns out that was my bus. They left 8 minutes earlier than scheduled which is totally unacceptable. I should not have to worry if my 1 PM bus is going to leave earlier than they say they will. Spent awhile on customer support who told me on 3 separate occasions to trade in my ticket for a $5 fee online for a later bus. Turns out trading in tickets is not possible once you're within 45 minutes of your bus's scheduled departure. The fact that customer service would mis-direct me on how to resolve my issue even though they, of all people, should know that the trade in functionality would not be available at that time is absurd. I ended up having to buy a new ticket at full price and after a couple months of emailing back and forth with a customer service rep, they declined to refund me because I didn't show up 15 minutes early, like their policy requires. The main takeaway is the company and customer service sucks. They will pretty much never refund you, and they really aren't concerned with providing a good experience for the customer. Only reason I still use the service is because of how cheap it is. read more

They have a policy where drivers cannot drive over 10 hours because they don't want to pay them overtime (also for safety reasons which I appreciate). So we are currently 30 minutes away from our destination but are waiting for an HOUR for a replacement driver to come. Why they scheduled this driver to drive this shift (he ran out of his 10 hours 40 min before we were scheduled to get in) or don't have a back up ready is beyond me. Other buses are unpleasant because of traffic and factors beyond the company's control. This is within the company's control. No wifi. I have to complaint my very disappointing experience with megabus. On 13th June, I and my parents took megabus from Washington DC to New York. It was not the first time we chose megabus to NYC. We brought three luggage and two carry-on bags, which was definitely satisfied to the rule. However, the staff at the station forced us to pay extra 70 dollars for the carry-on bags and threatened us if we don't pay, they wouldn't let us to get on. That had never happened when we took boltbus or gotoBus. They always allowed us to take one luggage and one carry-on.We have to pay because we have already pay the bus tickets. It was definitely extort. However, that was not the most provoking thing. I can already ignore the little thing like wifi didn't work. After we got on the bus, the bus was broke before it left Maryland. It was just stopped at a parking lot with no food, no drink and no toilet. And the driver also shut down the cooler and We had to stay outside the bus but it was raining. We waited over two hours for another bus. And since the schedule was delayed, the driver also didn't stop at the gas station in the following way, which means during the 10 hours, we don't have chance to buy some food or drink. We spent almost the whole day for the trip from DC to NYC. I take the bus between DC and NYC frequently, but I will never choose megabus again. I promise. read more

If I could give them -5 stars I would. This has been the worst experience ever. The 5pm bus we were supposed to be on was an hour late getting into Union Station. Now it is over 5 hours later we are stopped at a truck stop in New Jersey, but we are not allowed to get off the bus....with zero communication from the driver. Google maps is still saying we have 51 minutes to our destination in New York City. That means our 10pm arrival will now be 12am. read more

Haven't used megabus before today. But the morning I was going to leave from Annapolis to NYC with the 8:15am bus. I arrived at 7:58am and watched the Megabus depart, over 15 min early! Several of us were stranded at the park and ride. Those that needed to be in NYC for work then had to catch a train. Customer services was able to put me on the next bus and refunded me for the 8:15am bus. But never have I heard of a bus leaving 15+ min early! They should have had the driver turn the bus around and pick those he left stranded up. But they couldn't contact the driver for some reason. Not a very happy customer. read more

Never again. The two stars is generous, and only because Megabus is consistently cheaper than Bolt Bus. The bad: everything else. The bus boarded 10 minutes late, and it was pure chaos. Everyone pushed to the front and it looked like a mob. The bus interior was dirty, and littered with trash and water was dripping from unknown locations onto some of the seats. We ended up leaving 20 minutes late, and then we hit traffic. When that finally cleared, we made an unexpected stop in the middle of Maryland to pick up 3 people. 30 minutes lost for 3 PEOPLE. So know we're an hour and 10 minutes late. The driver refused to speed up past 40 mph, despite how late we were. There are just so many easier ways to get from Washington to NY, prices be damned. DO NOT TAKE MEGABUS if you value your time or sanity. I usually take greyhound and have never had a problem but booked megabus to New York because they had earlier departures and I needed to arrive by a specific time. Half an hour after we should have left, the bus was still sitting in union station with no explanation. Eventually I heard from other passengers that a panel was falling off the bus and we were waiting for a mechanic to fix it. After 45 minutes without any official announcement I asked the megabus staff how much longer it would be. They said they had no idea and were still waiting for the mechanic. At this point I realized that my only option for getting to New York on time would be to get off the bus and take Amtrak. I was told to call customer service to ask about getting a refund. The customer service rep did not listen to me and kept robotically repeating "we do not offer refunds for weather or traffic incidents out of our control." This was a maintenance issue completely within megabus' control, and the website says that refunds can be offered if megabus fails to provide reliable service. I asked for a manager. He eventually admitted we were not talking about a traffic or weather issue, but claimed he couldn't decide whether to issue a refund until after the bus arrived in NYC (who knows why) and said I would receive an email. He refused to tell me his name, refused to let me speak to anyone else, and then hung up on me. Needless to say, I never received an email. I have never experienced such abysmal customer service. A mere $30 refund would have pacified me. Instead, I will never take Megabus again and will urge everyone I know not to take it. I will gladly take any other bus service or pay 5x the price for Amtrak rather than deal with this company again. read more

I commute to NY every week and have been looking for a cheaper alternative to Amtrak in the next year. I bought a ticket for mega today but the online reservation told me it was unable to process the ticket. I tried again and it said the same thing. I booked the same ticket on Apex and went to print out tickets and what did I see in my inbox but 2 confirmed megabus tickets. Now, of course, even though I'd rather try mega out, I had a non-refundable Apex! It took over a half hour of calls to find the right number and to get the money refunded. At first the woman said I could only have one refunded because somehow it was my fault that their online service didn't work correctly. Ultimately cooler heads prevailed. What a shame. read more

Run do not walk away from Mega Bus. The only thing positive about Megabus is the wifi (which apparently doesn't always work either). I took the bus to/from DC-NYC. On the way there the bus left 45 minutes late and then in the middle of the route stopped while they changed drivers (the most annoying part was they never even explained why we stopped). I arrived in NYC 1.5 hours late. Apparently that day was a hard one for megabus, as the 1:00P bus broke down for several hours causing them to be late too. The return trip was even worse. Most of the employees had no idea what was going on (i.e. where the buses were going and what time they were supposed to leave) - the ONLY friendly and knowledgeable person there was the hotdog vendor. As i waited patinetly in line (for well over an hour) the employees of Megabus proceeded to first,, not tell us what was going on (the bus was late) and second, to scream at people. At one point one employeed yelled at the line "If you make my job hard, I will make your trip miserable". And if arriving 2.5 hours late is miserable, he succeeded. I have taken the Easter bus several times and have never been late. It might not have wifi and might be a slightly older bus, but I will be taking them in the future. read more

Husband and I decided at the last minute to head to NYC for the weekend, and checked out a couple of bus companies as this was our first trip. After reading terrible reviews of Megabus' service, we were a bit hesitant, but their timetable, price and ticket availability beat every other company for that last minute purchase. The bus was comfortable, clean, staff were pleasant enough. On the outward journey we arrived two hours late, but PURELY due to heavy traffic. It was Easter weekend, so all of those people that complained to the poor driver should really be ashamed of themselves - what do you expect on Easter weekend, heading to NY???? The return journey was equally as comfortable and we arrived back in DC bang on schedule, if not a few minutes early. I have read a number of reviews saying that the queues at the pick up points are complicated and confusing and that the staff are unhelpful. To be honest, you'd have to be pretty stupid to not be able to work out where to queue given that there are signs with the destinations on, and you queue up behind the destination you want...and it never hurts just to ask someone in the queue if they're going to the same place as you.... Perhaps we were just lucky, but I have to commend Megabus on their service - it made our weekend! read more

Megabus belongs in the worst cities in the worst third world countries. It should not be operating in this country. Besides being so late with no refunds for any reason whatsoever, I can't believe what I witnessed from one of the most horrible drivers I have ever seen in my life. During an unscheduled stop on the 8:30 a..m. from NYC to D.C., this horrendous woman driver deliberately abandoned a fellow passenger without his belongings and cell phone. The guy got off quickly to grab a snack from the hawker who stuck his head in to the bus selling $1 water and granola (with the obvious blessing of the ground staffer, who probably got a kickback). He wasn't off the bus 20 seconds when she took off, and despite our cries and the wave of the ground staffer, yelled out the window in a barely coherent English "tell him to take the next bus. I wasn't supposed to work the 8:30." Beyond the empathy towards being separated from your stuff while traveling and or the horror at the sheer lack of accountability and humanity in this driver, but it's as if I were traveling in a third world country where all the rules of civilized society have been abandoned. This on the Northeast Corridor from NYC to D.C.! At D.C., almost 90 minutes late btw, we collected his belongings and saw the long list of texts on his from a friend or loved one who had no idea where he was (and we tried to respond, but the iPhone goes to lock once you swipe it), we spoke to the ground crew, who seemed in no way bothered by this, while the sick woman driver screamed at me from inside the bus. Three times the price for AMTRAK and no refund by Megabus be damned, there is NO WAY I'm getting back on that bus for the return trip to NYC. I called the credit card company and am disputing the return fare charges and sucking up the outrageous AMTRAK fare for peace of mind. read more

Returned from NYC via MegaBus and saved over $60.00 by switching from Amtrak. It was a little confusing prior to boarding, but found my line and got on early. Don't wait until last minute as I hear they overbook. Ride was comfortable if not overly roomy. Free Wi-Fi is a huge plus! Arrived ahead of schedule. I signed up just so I could write a review. Normally I wouldn't but in this case I felt that it was necessary. Our bus was delayed for more than 2hrs going to and coming back from Toronto, Canada to Baltimore, Maryland. They said they emailed us notifications about the delayed, but when we checked our inbox and even our spam mail we didn't see it. Employees were extremely rude, whenever we inquired about our delayed bus, they rudely responded and told us to take it up with customer service. On that note, we were coming back from Canada and had just gone through customs. We began boarding the bus again and we were new to megabus so we sat down in new seats. Seats were not assigned so we assumed that it would be alright if we could pick new seats so we could sit together on the rest of fhe ride back. A lady approached me from behind as I was sitting down and told me to get out of her seat. I asked if the seats were assigned and she said no but she wanted to sit there. She then assaulted me and pushed me out of my chair where I nearly hit my head. I am a 5ft tall 95lb girl and was completely appalled that anyone would want a seat bad enough to resort to violence on someone half their size, when they could have easily just explained if the seats we chose at the beginning of our ride was our seats for the entirety of the journey. Another passenger ran to get the bus driver just as my friend was boarding and saw what happened, while the other passengers looked on in shock. The bus driver quickly arrived but after hearing what happened rudely said that we needed to go back to our original seats. I understand if our seats that we picked from the beginning of the ride were to be our seats for the remainder of the trip, but no where does it clearly state that, and I do not even know if that is even true. No matter what it is, there was no need for violence or rudeness from both the passenger and bus driver. I can only imagine what would happen if I had hit my head and gotten a serious injury, would the bus driver had even cared since they were not even concerned that I had been assaulted in the first place. After seeing all the other horrible reviews about megabus, I am not surprised at what happened to me. You do get what you pay for, but I feel that this was a bit appalling to say the least. Lesson learned and I am thankful that I was not seriously hurt, but I will not be taking megabus again in the future. I'd rather pay a bit extra for the security of knowing I have a bus driver who will at least have the decency to care about the safety of another human being and employees who act much more professionally. read more

I had a really unfortunate MegaBus experience on Sunday December 23, 2012. Having a 3:30pm reservation from New York to Washington DC, the bus was more than one hour late in arriving, which in itself is disappointing but understandable. However due to blistery weather conditions and a line that wrapped around a corner half a block, it was a miserable experience. The real problem I had is that no MegaBus staff provided updates as to whether we were waiting in the correct line, what time the bus would come, or provide any information or relief whatsoever. It was like a mad house of people arguing and trying to figure out where to go. There were people in the same line for multiple destinations and multiple bus times to the same destination. One gentleman, a MegaBus employee, snapped at me when I requested information. I requested some type of compensation for this experience and MegaBus declined to provide - simply provided a cookie cutter apology and said they will try not to let it happen again. I will never ride megabus again. They are regularly late, disorganized and over crowded. I've ridden them three times in the past two years. First time was great, bus was on time, comfortable and cheap. The second time it was more crowded and a little late. This last time the bust was late heading to New York and completely absent coming back. I walked over to Amtrak and took the train back and said goodbye to Megabus for ever. Megasuck. read more

Oh my lord, where do I begin? So we decided to take a last minute trip to NYC and the Bolt Bus was sold out. Megabus was the next option. I always see those cute blue double decker buses driving around so I was excited to check it out. When we arrived at the stop, we found out the bus was a run down Chinatown type bus! What the heck, can we say false advertising?? There was no internet or power outlets and the seats looked dirty. On this particular day it was pouring!! When we got to the NJ turnpike, I noticed we were in the far right emergency lane going 15 MPH (ON THE TURNPIKE!!!). We continued this for at least 20 miles or so. Finally, the bus driver confesses that the wind shield wiper was broken and he couldn't see anything!! So dangerous! So we finally made it to one of their hubs off the turnpike and switched buses. Not a pleasant experience. On the way home, we were put on a double decker which was nice but a bit cramped. Stick with Bolt.... Tip: If the pickup spot is NOT Parking Lot H St. NW opp. 10th St. NW then you WILL be put on one of those horrible Chinatown buses!! read more

Sighs, where to even begin? Okay so we decided to book a fairly quick same day trip from Richmond, Virginia to DC area. I attempted to get a refund due to reasons which are not relevant here and was turned down. I get that they have a no refund policy but it needs to be made more clear to folks. They tried charging me 10 dollar fee to switch my return trip, did it online and it cost me $7. The phone reps never told me that as an option. I needed to take a wee so against my best judgement used the "lou". It was so filthy. Oh my god. There was a cup with boogers, and trash on the floor and the urinal was so stinking I couldn't breath. Very bumpy ride! Bus was an hour behind and it was an inconvenience for our already short scheduled trip. Needless to say we wont be taking a megabus anywhere else anytime soon. Megabus was a complete disappointment, from the rude staff to the lack of organization, I will never use megabus again. I was traveling with a large group and we all booked our tickets together for Friday at 4:30. When we got to the stop in NY, there was no organization in lines and it was all extremely confusing compared to when I rode with boltbus. They kept yelling at us to stand against the fence; I felt like I was in prison. Our bus wasn't an official megabus and didn't have enough seats so they had to have people wait for a second bus to come. Why wasn't there a real bus? Who knows. The greedy managers overbooked it seemed. My group and I sat in the 20 degree NYC weather for an hour waiting for another bus since we didn't want half of our group to go on one bus and half on another. The staff was very short and blunt with us, though we were nothing but polite even after facing the horrid service. I'll never ride on megabus again. Terrible company. read more

This is by far the most incompetent and unreliable bus company out there. I have taken Megabus perhaps at least a half dozen times and all but once the bus has been late, anywhere from 15 minutes to one hour. Plus, there isn't much room on the bus compared to the other major bus lines. Sure, it's cheap, but you get what you pay for. read more

I have taken the Megabus a few times to and from NYC and once to Charlotte. I am not a big fan of driving long distances and would rather sleep, so it is either a bus, plane, or train for me. The tickets were cheap, we got there on time, and when the internet/electrical outlets work, its great. The ride is pretty smooth. The best part is just not having to drive, spend all that money on gas, and just being able to get work done. Trips are slightly longer then when you drive, because of the few stops you have to make, but beggers cannot be choosers. read more

Worst bus ride ever. NYC to DC. No power. Loud beeping alarm for 4 hours. Temperature on bus was like a sauna. Seats were cramped with no over head storage. I recently rode a Go bus for a living social trip and it was much better. read more

All I can say is, "Don't Do it!!" I have taken other buses to NYC previously and never had the horrible experience I had with Megabus. Terrible customer service, late, and you better be there 15 mins ahead of your scheduled departure, particularly coming back from NYC. They will sell your seat and don't really care if you get on the next bus or the next one or the next one!!! Horrible, once was enough for me, NEVER AGAIN!! read more

Megabus has moved to inside Union Station in the bus lot and it is SO much better. Safe and convenient, I now travel Megabus back and forth to NYC without a second thought. Seems like the company got it's act together too on the condition of the buses. Thanks Megabus for making it better! read more

I love the Megabus, free wi-fi, electrical outlets, clean and they got us to our destination right on time. The seats aren't the most comfortable, but they weren't too bad. Oh and you can't beat the price. It does get a little cold on there, but I rather be cold then burning up. read more

NEVER AGAIN!!! I took the roundtrip DC to NYC. The service out of DC was excellent, but the return trip, not so much. It was almost a free for all boarding the returning bus in NYC. No staff in sight to help or any organization to the lines. Halfway home, the bus broke down...stranded on the side of the highway for over 2 hours.
