I've made three appointments here, two of them have resulted in some sort of scheduling inconvenience. First time he was running behind and I sat waiting for 40 min. Second haircut went as scheduled. Walked in today, dude says he has me down for tomorrow. Only problem: I made my appointment for today and... tomorrow is not today. I leave town early tomorrow morning, today is planned to account for all the things I need to get done before I leave, and so no, I can't come back later today. Later today is not when I scheduled my appointment. He just kep repeating that he has me in for tomorrow and not today, no apology, just repeated that as though somehow it was my fault that when I repeated Thursday on the phone last week, I should have known that he was kid-cut, busy, and would accidentally put me down for Friday. I came all the way from North Berkeley, I should send this fool an invoice for my time and my transit costs. A waste on an already packed day. If you ain't got shit going on, and have time and money to blow, then by all means, go with this guy. Dude gets one star because he cuts hair real nice but that don't mean shit if you never get your haircut. read more

Moved here five years ago and needed to replace my longtime barber of about 10 years who was extremely nice with the hands. Kept searching "Barbershops" on yelp once I arrived here and going down the list to try and find a worthwhile replacement - hitting up multiple places in SF and Oakland. Finally, got an appointment at Megah Brown's. After getting my first cut there - I knew the search was over. Damien is the best-of-the-best. Can hook up any cut/design/shape up you want and welcoming to everyone that comes in - treating all like family. Easy to talk to and extremely punctual - as he will have you in the chair right at your appointment time. Most importantly though - I've never gotten so many complements on my cuts (I've been there about 10 times now)! Final tip - call a week in advance to make your appointment. Damion is an extremely skilled artist! After having some not so great haircuts and cutting my own hair for a year, it was time to get a real haircut. I found him on yelp and got an appointment a couple days later. I was lucky enough to see Damian work while I was waiting for my appointment. His customer was more than happy walking out of there! I had grown my hair out for a good few months and just had a bit of a mop going. I talked to Damion about what I was looking for, but left the details up to him. This review is only for the other barber that doesn't cut by appointments. I went in for a simple cut as I just moved to area, and I have been struggling to find serviceable barber. Summation- Haircut- Level 2 all around. Full beard lining with razor Pros- Quick. Under 30m Cons- No attention to detail Lining was off my by a lot. I had to constantly point to areas that needed straightening. Found more issues in my bathroom mirror. Expensive-$30 No idea if the main barber is any better but, other fellow is a no-go. read more

I hadn't had a haircut for many months, and told him to just do his thing. Ended up looking like a million bucks. His shop has a great layout and feel. Lots of magazines, comics, old school records, etc. I have been to some of the more well-known barbershops around (e.g. Peoples) and truly they don't compare. My boyfriend comes here to get his haircuts and his girlfriend, I am always impressed when he comes back from his haircuts. He is always able to get an appointment the day of and will stay past closing time to make sure every single strand of here is looking the best. This place is close to home and it is very easy to get to. Parking here is hit or miss but not impossible to find. If you are doubtful take uber here. Overall a cute little barber shop and pleased that my boyfriend is always looking sharp when he walks out of here. I called this barbershop to see if I could make an appointment. The barber Megah answered and he got upset because I didn't know that he was only one that work there, plus that he is the owner. He was rude with a bad attitude as if I suppose to know that he is only one that work in his barbershop. I don't write a ton of reviews so I'll try to be as succinct as possible. This guy can cut - he is definitely a lot more skilled than other barbers in the area. Convenient location to downtown Oakland. I took the advice of many other reviewers and called to schedule appointment. After sitting in his chair a few times, I've seen him turn away walk-ins and then speak at length about how he doesn't accept walk-ins - so you definitely want to make sure you set an appointment. Easy enough instructions to follow and as long as you follow it, you'll be good. This at least was the case for the first few visits I had. I've visited a total of 4 times - twice for full on cuts, once of a shape up. The first two cuts were fire. The shape up was OK (also was the same price as a full cut which was a little bit strange), but because he had come through twice before I was eager to visit for my next cut. Cut's run $25, which to me is fair in today's world. I'd usually through $30 or $35, as he did a good job. Best of all he's pretty consistent, which if you've searched for a solid barber you know this is tough to find. Sadly, my last experience was a deal breaker. After scheduling for a Friday afternoon appointment (which he told me was his only available slot when I called), I showed up and bruh acted as if I had scheduled an appointment on a different day. I am certain that I scheduled an appt for the time/date when I showed up, so that was a bit frustrating. If you double booked or forgot to put me down - that's all good, just say so. He weirdly decided to put it on me and made no effort to accommodate me at a later time or even the next day. Again, didn't have to be a thing, but if you're so adamant about your own rules the least you can do is follow them. He's a busy guy so moving my schedule around to his only open spot only to end up wasting my time was not the greatest experience. All in all he is a solid barber but can be kind of a diva. PS: I ended up getting a cut the next day at a shop over on 13th/Franklin which is solid shop. read more

When I moved to Oakland 6 years ago, one of the first things I did was look for a barber. After about 6 months and different barbers, I met Damion (aka Megah Brown) from a coworker's recommendation. My search ended after my first haircut with him. Damion is a great barber, that can't be said enough, but it goes beyond that. I consider Damion family. Many great conversations have been had sitting in his chair that have gone beyond the shop. He attended my wedding, my wife and I attended his wedding, and he and his wife came to visit my son when he was born. It's exciting to see him transition into owning his own shop which was literally built by his own hands. Damion is exceptionally professional, wise beyond his years, and a fun guy to be around. As far as barbers go, Megah is probably the best kept secret in the Bay Area. Most passionate barber I've ever met. I appreciate his eye for details, and the cut doesn't feel rushed. Fresh fade, razor sharp lineup, and handy with the scissors. You can tell he takes pride in his work and professionalism, but he's also genuinely personable too, makes you feel at home. The shop has improved even more as the owner has brought his turn tables into the shop with a nice selection of good vintage vinyls. Dameion is amazing! He has been cutting my fiancé's hair for over 5 years. I would never let him go anywhere else. He goes in once a week to freshen up. Lined up, beard trimmed, hair looking so good!
