I had the earl grey tea which was freshly brewed and loose leaf which you don't see too often! It was very flavorful and nice on a gloomy day. I then got the salad and soup. The soup of the day was the chicken and veggie which was okay, it could've used some extra flavor and the chicken was a bit rough. I did love my salad though! I have all my breakfast meetings here. My go to is the "threedom of choice" with eggs, turkey sausage and a muffin that I take make to my assistant. Meggs is by far the best place to eat in Temple. They have the best breakfast I've ever had. Cinnamon roll French toast is killer. Pastrami hash with Brussel sprouts is even better. Usually love Megg's but there is something going on here. The hostess with the red highlights literally didn't make eye contact with us at all! Asked us how many, got the menus and sat us, all without looking at us once. It took everything out of me not to ask if we were bothering her. Then our waitress was killing me, we would say excuse me, and she would say "what's up" super annoyed. Forgot to bring half of our stuff, then seemed even more annoyed that we had the nerve to ask for it. Nothing came out well. We travel between Fort Worth and Austin regularly and try to time our drive so we can stop for a meal at Megg's Cafe. There food is always good whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner. My daughter has breakfast no matter the time of day. The corned beef hash is amazing. I've had the burgers, sandwiches, entrees and, my latest visit, the avocado toast and Mac and cheese. You just can't go wrong. On the wall they list the local farms that supplied the food. If you are trying to decide if you should give Megg's a try, do it. The flavoring of the sausage gravy was delightful, the biscuits were unusually quite tall, made from scratch, but quite dry and fell apart. After a bite or two of the delicious gravy, it became apparent, there was very skimpy and inadequate portion of gravy covering the biscuits. I had also ordered cheese with my scrambled eggs which I didn't get. I reported these issues to my waitress. I had to wait until the next time I saw her which was when she dropped off my bill. She seemed disinterested in hearing my concerns. This was a frustrating experience. The prices are a little a bit on the high side for breakfast and lunch, but keep in mind everything you're eating is locally sourced so it's definitely worth it Only reason I knocked off a star was because of a space issue, everyone's table is uncomfortably close to one another. As someone who served for many years, I don't believe in judging a restaurant after just one visit. I have now been to Megg's a total of four times, and have decided I won't be giving it any more tries. First visit- my husband and I were hopeful we had found a new breakfast spot after moving here from San Antonio where there are many fantastic brunch places to choose from. I won't be giving a play by play of the entire meal as I have 3 other visits to go through, so pro's- the food was great and friendly waitstaff. Con's- food took FOREVER to arrive and service was slow. Second visit- once again the service was friendly but even slower this time, food was good but also took even longer than before. So long in fact that I had to ask the server for an update which I rarely do. Third visit- server was one of the best I've ever had. She was young and blonde, but I unfortunately can't remember her name. She was fast, efficient, and amazingly friendly. The food came out very fast and was good as always. Fourth visit-waited 10 minutes before we were finally greeted by our server, no apology. Should have also offered to take our food order as we had been waiting a ridiculous amount of time already. She took our drink order and after 15 more minutes of waiting, decided we'd had enough. I'm not sure if they're understaffed, although for the size of the restaurant and the number of servers I have seen running around, I don't think that's the case. Maybe it's a training issue. Either way, I just can't bring myself to go again, which is very unfortunate as the food is excellent. Be prepared to wait. I would advise to look elsewhere if your hungry. read more

More Megg's in My Life! Having one of my best friends come visit from out of town, I wanted to impress by taking him to a nice breakfast spot. Thank goodness Megg's came to the rescue! Not only was the location great (5min away and super close to 31st St) but the parking was ample, inside/outside was very clean, service was fast and friendly and food was very good! Our waitress, [Amber] was prompt, attentive and friendly which only enhanced our visit. The food came out fast and fresh. I ordered the standard 2 eggs, house potatoes, toast, and bacon. No complaints here. My friend ordered the Breakfast burrito and my goodness it was enormous! I joked that they used about 20 eggs because it was so huge. He seemed to enjoy it as there was nothing left by the end of our meals. These factors are all reasons why our experience at Megg's was pretty great. Although I feel the menu was a tad overpriced, I'll just say you are paying for what you get. I'll undoubtedly be back! read more

I come to Megg's usually about once a month and the food and service has always been great. It can get pretty busy at peak times but we usually go around on Saturday's 1pm and are about to be seated quickly. Like other reviewers mentioned the seating is a bit crammed but they seem to try and space customers out if they have the space. I love that they use fresh local grown food. read more

Found horrible traffic at Temple, TX during a road trip and my friend and co-pilot found Meggs Cafe to stop for dinner. Michael was our server and he took excellent care of us. Both me and my friend ended up having breakfast for dinner. She liked the bread and ended up getting a great deal on "yesterday's bread" to go. We sat at the patio and it was very nice and comfortable. Ambiance was not super great, but they have cute lights and a nice setting. The also have patio couches, blankets and I saw a few board games. Restrooms were clean, they have plenty of parking. Prices are reasonable too.
