It's not loud and the lighting is intimate. There's a variety of seats to choose from: tables, booths, bar. We try to sit at the bar because the best server ever, Deborah, takes care of patrons who dine here. The menu has a lot to choose from but it's not overwhelming. Share a couple of appetizers and then have an authentic meal. The signature cocktails will leave you with a smile on your face. Considering the location and quality of food, I would say the prices are reasonable. Great place inside Tropicana that has normal seating and a bar area. Very friendly staff and service was good. We sat at the bar. Chashu Buns and chili wontons were ordered along with two drinks. Can't remember the names of them - one was a Japanese Sidecar (highly recommended) and the other a version of a Manhattan. Both very tasty. The food was awesome. a little confused by the high ratings based on food alone -sushi was not great and tasted similar to sushi you would get at a grocery store. the rice was too soggy as well -pad thai was mostly vegetables and hardly any noodles or protein . i've never had a dish served this way. it was mostly green onions ambience was good and i guess i expected a lot given the reviews service was just ok. read more

The food is delicious here. They aren't always open though and only for dinner. I believe mostly the weekends. It's next to ILL Verdi tucked away in the casino. Finally had a chance to go and it was worth the wait. Very nice decor here and there are tables and booths here. There's a sushi bar as well. I believe it used to more of sushi place in general but the menu had way more than sushi. We were lucky enough to be in a booth. The food and the service were both very good. The General Tao's chicken was excellent as was their steak. I'll definitely be back. Wish they were open more often. They might have expanded hours during the summer season. read more

Staff and ambiance were really nice! Our server was so quick to take our order and was so attentive. Food is definitely overpriced for what you get, though. We ordered the chicken ramen which we didn't expect to have a small spicy kick to it, but delicious nonetheless. I also ordered the wonton soup which had a rich broth. Their spicy tuna roll was fine. Best time!! We drove down to Atlantic City for a show in the Tropicana and decided to try Ossu. It met all my expectations. The classy, but relaxed decor was very inviting. We had a reservation but arrived 15 minutes early- thankfully they were able to seat us. Our server was Stanley and he was the best. Super friendly and knowledgeable. We started with the Lobster Dumplings and the Pork Gyoza. Both were delicious but the Lobster Dumplings hit the mark. Hubby asked for a recommendation and Stanley stated we couldn't go wrong with the Mongolian Beef. He was so right...it was so delicious. I got the Blue Crab & Shrimp Tempura Roll. Just came back to Ossu for the second time and simply must reiterate -- this place is SO much better than Nobu nearby and at a fraction of the price. This time had the whole crispy fish and sushi deluxe platter as well as returning to the five spice rib and tuna poke appetizers. The whole fish was one of the best we've had, not at all greasy, perfectly cooked, with a very yummy sweet and sour glaze and lots of baby bok Choy on the side. First time here since it changed from Okachi. Wonderful staff and similar ambiance. Enjoyed the edamame - flavored with Japanese spices and soy butter. Yummy. Husband had some gyoza, sushi and sashimi. Although pricier than most sushi places, the seafood was fresh. I had the veggie sushi (without tempora and substituted nori for soy paper). It was mango and cucumber wrapped up with sushi rice and topped with basically guacamole. I used a little of the lime from our pad Thai which added the perfect flavor to the dish. The pad Thai, however, was not so great. Way too many onions and it did not have the pad Thai flavor I am accustomed to. The shrimp on the dish were quite large. We ordered the chicken and steak yakitori which came with two dipping sauces, the fried rice and the edamame wontons. The fried rice was good for two people. The edamame dumplings are underwhelming in comparison to Buddakan's version. One thing I will note is that the bathroom is shared with the one next door so you have to push a heavy door to go to the other side and then pull to open to come back in. Very similar to the Borgatas Izakaya which is a great thing both food and decor wise. Small menu to ease your worried mind, Layla. The kajino roll was the best roll I've had in '23. The broth in the edamame dumpling dish was drinkable on its own. Japanese soda might be the coolest thing ever. A glass bottle with a marble in it that looks like juice until you work your magic on top and release the bubbles. Pork belly bao bun was delicious just could have been more meat inside. Food was really good, waitress was friendly, attentive and service was quick. For our appetizers we got the "Shrimp Tempura" speciality roll, the "Suteki" and "Shittake" sticks. The shrimp tempura roll and suteki (filet mignon sticks) were delicious and fresh. The Shiitake sticks I didn't like so much, the sauce on them made them taste strange in my opinion. For my main meal I got the 16oz Ribeye and it was flavorsome. The sauce that came with the ribeye and suteki were both sweet and appetizing. The Ribeye cut easily, came with lots of fat and didn't take long to chew. The only reason I gave 4/5 stars instead of 5 was because of the atmosphere. The restaurant is nice but very dark where we were sitting. On top of that the walls are also black so I was very sleepy the entire time, to the point where I had to take my food to go because I was too tired to keep eating. The ambience was giving city night life vibes and I honestly love the decor set up. Yakatori - I love the yakatori concept of getting 3 of each skewers. The pork belly was my favorite. It was cooked perfectly and the flavoring was on point, a mixture of sweet and savory. The sausage and salmon were also really good. Salmon can get pretty dry when cooked, but this was literally cooked just right. Sausage is sweet and dense when biting in. Overall 5/5 Kani croquettes - Made with crabmeat and some sort of cheese filling. This was a fun appetizer to eat! 5/5 Unagi roll - 5/5 the roll was made really fresh no complaints here. It was... as one would expect from a restaurant in a casino: first and foremost, overpriced and dolled up. The service was good, the food was good but not phenomenal. You can certainly find much better sushi at places far less dolled up and lower priced. Would I recommend it? Heck, I wouldn't recommend Atlantic City as a whole, you can find better quality and price elsewhere. I was SO Happy to see they kept the same cool atmosphere & decor, although not speakeasy style anymore. The food was fabulous!! Can't wait to come back. Rolls were delicious & perfect size. If you are looking for a decent sushi place this is not for you. Where do I start the food had no taste. Ordered the shrimp and pork garlic wontons and they were bland, the wontons were mushy and the pork and shrimp stuffing had no flavors. Then ordered the deluxe sashimi and the tuna was slimy, liked the yellow tail, the octopus was over cooked. The double down salmon roll was horrible, no taste, what kind of salmon has no taste, instead of the fish eggs for decoration they added tempura little balls like rice crispy , the salmon felt greasy too, only has two pieces and that was enough to say this is not a good or even decent place to eat. Ordered the egg rolls and again very disappointed, no taste at all mushy paste in the inside. What kind of place is this, the egg rolls in the freezer aisle are better than this place. It was a very bad experience, you are better off having a burger in the boardwalk than eating here. Very disappointed. The folks next to us were very disappointed too. My husband I I made a reservation to dine right when the restaurant opened on Tuesday night. From the sounds of things at the hostess stand, they were fully booked for the night and not allowing walk-ins, which seemed weird because the restaurant was very empty the entire time we were there. We ordered the 5spice ribs (after seeing some reviews online) and our typical sushi roll order. The ribs were amazing... full of flavor and so tender. The sushi was a disappointment... the rice was not cooked well no seasoned well, so it made the sushi roll chewy and lacking flavor... It's definitely not a tasty bite of food. I was a huge fan of the predecessor in this space, Okatche, an unfortunate COVID casualty. My first time to Ossu was last night and it's didn't disappoint. Same great chicken wings, tasty seaweed salad and perfectly seasoned edamame. Abundant sushi selection and very tasty rolls. Love the ambience with subtle lighting and great music. Started with the flight of Japanese whiskies, moved onto the pork belly yakitori, and finished up with the blue crab & shrimp tempura roll. This place has a very cool ambiance and setting, especially for being in the Tropicana which is a full blown MAZE and for that I'll probably (hopefully) never be back. The sushi was mediocre at best, nothing to write home about or return for. They have a very limited menu, no place on the menu listing basic sushi rolls only a couple signature rolls which we ordered 2 of. I wanted to order the Kimchi but for 8.99 I can get an entire jar of it at home so I decided to pass. We got the Mongolian beef stir fry which was very sparse on actual beef but it tasted fine, just really saucy and mostly veggies. We got the Kajino roll which was delicious due to the large fried tempura piece on top, and the rainbow roll which was just okay, wouldn't order it again. Had a carafe of the Blue One sake and enjoyed the evening, for that I give 3 stars but will not be back. read more
